The old one is getting full, so here’s a nice shiny new one.

Where is Lauren? What is Dee Dee’s chap up to? Is Kit a villainous baddie or a force for good? Do we care?

Post your predictions and observations here (no spoilers please).

BlueBelle Sun 09-Jun-24 05:32:34

I like Stu I think he’s very sweet and totally wasted on Yazmine who I can’t ever imagine being a seductress

Calendargirl Sun 09-Jun-24 07:23:52

Stu and Yasmeen are another mis-matched couple on Corrie.

Aveline Sun 09-Jun-24 07:45:47

Fully agree. Re Blanche: she was very funny with Steve. Those two were an unexpected double act. His face used to be a picture when she came out with some grandiose comment.

Why are all the women in soaps so awful, serial adulteress and a few murderers, plus mouths like the Mersey tunnel? Rhona in Emmerdale is one that is such a car crash despite however being a super vet, I’d like to know when it is she does any work with all her plotting. Sarah in Coronation Street, if it moves she’s there. The men not much better.I continue to watch them every night.

Aveline Sun 09-Jun-24 08:17:12

Soap writers can't win. If nothing much happens we say it's boring but if they try to include more exciting things like relationships or crimes we say it's not realistic! Life is just hatches, matches and dispatches in all their various forms. Soap writer just use these.

Anybody got time to give a quick resume of last week’s Corrie please? Couldn’t find an omnibus edition.

The Barlows found out about Bobby’s police statement and got the hump with him and Carla.

Toyah got arrested after her baby was dug up.

Leanne was saying I love you to a laptop screen. The person turned out to be an AI thingy of what Oliver would now look like.

Cassie got sacked from the garage after saying unkind things about Abi.

Josh proposed to Dee Dee and she met his parents beforehand. His mum was unpleasant.

Simon left and Carla gave him some money.

Michael kissed the undertaker’s sister.

I can’t think of anything else Primrose.

Fantastic Beechnut. You are a star.

I did notice Dee Dee has lost a ton of weight. She had a red dress on with a big wide belt and her waist looked tiny.
She has surely had weight loss surgery or a gastric band. Remember Fern Britton’s rapid weight loss?
Thanks again.

And Ken had a fall and broke his pelvis!

Clawdy Wed 12-Jun-24 08:13:27

But that was this week, of course!

Beechnut Wed 12-Jun-24 14:33:52

I had thought that with what happened to Ken, Tracy would return from her shenanigans with TO and get back together with Steve. I’ve seen a spoiler and am thinking Nooo!

Calendargirl Wed 12-Jun-24 20:35:43

Well, good old Doctor Gaddas was able to dash across and help with Paul, which was great.

I expect the surgery was left unattended though,

Calendargirl Wed 12-Jun-24 20:49:00

Could they not have found a taller boyfriend for Summer?

BlueBelle Wed 12-Jun-24 22:09:37

Deedee was talking about her weight loss she has been on a total keep fit regime and taken up running (I think it was running) and I think she looks fantastic I don’t think she’s had any surgery Primrose
Instead of ditching the stair lift why not use the safety seat belt that they normally come with ….. Dah
Well Summer looked good but what an item she brought with her could have done better methinks

Charleygirl5 Wed 12-Jun-24 23:22:46

Who is that fellow in the car eyeing Toya twice? I wish that Rowan character would take a one-way ticket soon, I cannot stand him.

Clawdy Thu 13-Jun-24 08:31:37

Ken's face when a commode was mentioned! Wonder where this story is leading.

Aveline Thu 13-Jun-24 08:43:03

Very realistic situation re Ken. That makes a change. Meanwhile so many other stories going on. Corrie has improved!!

Calendargirl Thu 13-Jun-24 08:59:53

Surely someone as intelligent as Ken would have lain there in his hospital bed wondering how he was going to manage stairs, showers, loos etc with a broken pelvis at his age, even if it was only a ‘small’ fracture?

As for the family all ‘going to muck in’. They’ve no idea. I suspect it’s to highlight how grim it can be in a situation like this.

vegansrock Fri 14-Jun-24 17:28:04

Corrie not on tonight or Monday due to football☹️ on next Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday.

BlueBelle Fri 14-Jun-24 17:57:20

My best friend fell and broke her pelvis about 8 weeks ago she lives alone was offered help said she’d see how she got on and has been fine has never had to use a commode (she hasn’t stairs like Ken has she used the shower from day 1 ) she has been cooking for herself and after about three weeks she was going to the nearby shop we are now meeting for lunch ( albeit she uses a taxi) but she walks round the shops with me after the meal and has done some light gardening
She is 87 and broke a hip last year
It’s not always doom and gloom

I wonder if Ken s story is building up to retiring from the show

Bloody football

Charleygirl5 Fri 14-Jun-24 18:43:20

In real life Ken is in so much debt I doubt if he could afford to retire unless the writers have decided his time has come to leave.

Ken will be lucky if anybody bothers to make a hot meal for him.

Aveline Fri 14-Jun-24 19:09:03

How can Ken be in so much debt in real life? What does he do with it all?

Calendargirl Fri 14-Jun-24 19:27:18

I hope Ken does as well as your friend BlueBelle, that’s good to hear.

But I expect it’s to highlight yet another modern day scenario, care in the community (or lack of it) for so many elderly people on being discharged from hospital.

😡🤬

Why can't they put football on a designated channel? Or at least move Corrie to ITV2 when it's on if the advertising revenue is higher on ITV1.

Who lives in the Barlow household these days?

Many years ago, when the Dierdre/Mike Baldwin saga was gripping the nation (or some of us) a newspaper suggested that Dierdre was considering leaving Ken because he was boring, and went on to suggest that William Roache was as boring as the character he played. Instead of ignoring this, when it would have quickly been forgotten, he came out with all guns blazing and sued the newspaper, lost, and was then declared bankrupt. However, this must all have happened over twenty years ago and I would have thought his finances must have recovered by now.
