The old one is getting full, so here’s a nice shiny new one.

Where is Lauren? What is Dee Dee’s chap up to? Is Kit a villainous baddie or a force for good? Do we care?

Post your predictions and observations here (no spoilers please).

Not sure what the 'Institute' has to gain from Leanne. It's not as if she's fabulously wealthy or has hundreds of friends anxious to join her.

Sarnia Wed 19-Jun-24 08:21:42

I find myself fast forwarding through much of Corrie these days. The Toyah/Nick/Leanne storylines drag on and why on earth are the Barlows entrusting poor Ken to Cassie's sketchy care? Ken had better keep his hands on his money.

FindingNemo15 Wed 19-Jun-24 08:23:42

I too am fed up with all the footie. Then it will be Wimbledon, Royal Ascot and the Olympics.

As someone has already said surely it would be better to have all this on a designated channel and not mess up the other programmes.

maddyone Wed 19-Jun-24 23:47:19

I don’t really know what The Institute is. There seems to be no other members except Leanne and Rowan.

Calendargirl Thu 20-Jun-24 07:04:56

Well, there seemed to be a few of them enjoying a free meal at the Bistro.

And Leanne is ‘Level 5’, now, whatever that means,

Perhaps she will be qualified to cut Rowan’s very annoying, floppy hair.

Grannynannywanny Thu 20-Jun-24 08:36:41

Ken is suddenly warming to Cassie. It’s quite a while since Ken had a romance. Could Cassie be next? 😆

Doodledog Thu 20-Jun-24 08:58:38

I wonder if this is the way Cassie is being made acceptable? They often do that in Soapland - bring in an insufferable character or family, and move them a degree at a time towards decency and before we know it they are lovable grin

Remember the Battersbys? Fizz was a tearaway when the Croppers fostered her. And Lovely Roy was a creepy neighbour of Deirdre when she lived in an HMO for a while.

This might sound awful, but I don't want to warm to Cassie 😂. I'll be quite cross if they soften her up and make her a core character.

Calendargirl Thu 20-Jun-24 09:07:37

Oh, I do agree Doodledog.

With her wolfish, over white grin and her accent, I just hope Cassie gets written out asap.

And how dare she mock Deirdre’s specs?

Have the family informed Tracey about her dad’s accident! No mention of it that I recall.

Grannynannywanny Thu 20-Jun-24 09:19:18

I agree with everything you’ve just posted Doodledog. I thought last night there were fleeting suggestions of Cassie about to turn into a kind and caring person.

In the meantime the possibilities are endless for the scriptwriters. She’ll probably be wrongly accused of stealing something from the house which will turn up with a simple explanation.

If she serves up stuffed marrows for dinner while wearing Deirdre’s glasses that will be the last straw 😆

Primrose53 Thu 20-Jun-24 09:21:07

Could not take my eyes off Abi’s pumped up lips last night. I have seen her interviewed on TV before and she struck me as very down to earth and not show bizzy at all. How wrong was I? I just cannot understand how seemingly sane women decide to follow the trend and get these big, ugly lips.

Aveline Thu 20-Jun-24 09:29:04

Cassie and Steve will soon be an item!

Charleygirl5 Thu 20-Jun-24 09:57:11

Cassie has to have a hidden agenda for supposedly looking after Ken. She will be able to rifle drawers at her leisure and maybe see if there is anything worth pilfering. Otherwise I cannot see a reason to work there.

Naughty Toyah, will she have an unexplained bump soon? That really would end Nick and Leanne's marriage.

Has Felix left for good? If so what a weird entrance and exit with zilch happening.

maddyone Thu 20-Jun-24 10:16:04

Torah is supposed to suffer from infertility problems, but I suppose that will be forgotten if it suits the writers.
It’s amazing how many women fall pregnant after one incident of indiscretion on Corrie.

Aveline Thu 20-Jun-24 11:09:05

I don't think she should have signed the NDA. Let them take her to court. She's a 'woman of straw' - has no assets so what good would it do. Meanwhile she could have a field day discrediting them in court.

Cabowich Thu 20-Jun-24 11:12:48

Aveline - I've also suspected that Cassie and Steve will soon be 'getting it on'.

Calendargirl Thu 20-Jun-24 11:15:50

Let’s face it, Steve has ‘got it on’ with nearly any available female over the years.

He’s hardly a catch.

Grannynannywanny Thu 20-Jun-24 11:19:51

Ches and Gemma quickly solved the lack of a boiler by popping out with Joseph’s pocket money to buy an electric shower. I was expecting them to be threatened with eviction by their nasty landlord.

Cabowich Thu 20-Jun-24 11:28:20

I'm sure they still will be, Grannynannywanny. Unfortunately, this storyline is mirroring what my daughter (and many others) are currently going through.

Grannynannywanny Thu 20-Jun-24 11:51:37

Sorry to hear that Cabowich. I hope life improves for your daughter.

Doodledog Thu 20-Jun-24 13:13:02

I thought that they'd be evicted too.

Whilst I like the more lighthearted stories on Corrie, I do think it's good that they highlight social issues too, and it's time that housing insecurity was brought up - usually people end up in elastic houses and mysterious spare bedrooms are found to accommodate them, which is obviously not true in real life.

I hope your daughter is ok, Cabowich.

Crossstitchfan Thu 20-Jun-24 13:14:49

I agree that Corrie isn’t what it used to be and in my opinion, some of the storylines are really pathetic. It’s not helped by having people like stupid Sarah and the dreadful Bethany in it. Bethany in particular annoys me. There is something about her that makes me grit my teeth.
If only we could have characters like the old ones in the 60s and 70s. Corrie was outstanding then. Now, it’s just something to have on while I potter about my flat. Not worth sitting down and watching it properly but marginally better than the silence.
As for Cassie? Is there a point to her being there? If there is, I can’t see it. (She couldn’t act to save her life in Brookside either!)
Something has got to be done to save Corrie. More lines for Evelyn would help as her acerbic wit is priceless and she is a terrific actress, probably wasted on Corrie, but I love her being there. More Evelyn please! Thinking about it, there really aren’t many characters I care about - Evelyn, Roy, Betty, Audrey and a few oldies like that. Shelley’s ok too, but only just. I could happily see less of Sally, Kevin, their dreadful ‘I screw my eyes up every time I talk’ daughter, Ian, and a couple more and I am so glad that Suranne Jones has gone. She was no asset to the programme with her whining. Hated her.
Hope Corrie survives but sometimes I wonder if it can.

Aveline - I've also suspected that Cassie and Steve will soon be 'getting it on'.

I agree with you two.

Doodledog Thu 20-Jun-24 13:27:18

I think they are trying to keep it alive by bringing in younger characters, though. Some of the oldies are really getting on, and without new blood it would get pretty dire.

I think you're mixing up characters from Classic Corrie with the current ones, Crossstitchfan grin.

Crossstitchfan Thu 20-Jun-24 13:28:15

Forgot to say, I thought Abi looked very attractive last night. Her lips didn’t look ‘pumped up’ to me.
I hate the Rowan character too, but I can see the attraction for Toyah. She never had any taste in men and I suppose Rowan is a relief from the boring personality-deprived Nick.
Sometimes though, I’d like to bang all their heads together.

Oops, Doodledog. You might be right. Apologies to anyone I might have confused.
