Britains Got Talent - any thoughts!

I thought the acts were really good. Wasn’t surprised when the winner was announced but couldn’t believe the runner up! So many other excellent and amazing acts. My dh always maintains the whole thing is rigged. Amanda’s dress was as entertaining as some of the acts. Any one else watching?

I love magic, but weren't they long winded?
I was fed up by the time they stopped blabbering and did the trick.

I enjoyed the magician but thought Sydnie would win. Someone should tell AH that it's a family show and could she wear something more appropriate!

I don't watch it but did have a go watching snapshots of a couple of episodes. Like others can't figure why it's called Britain's got talent when so many from other countriess seem to take part. And that's only from part of the two episodes I saw. What on earth has happened to AH. Absolute mess, and the two outfits I saw - no words!

I love BGT. Don't care where the performers come from, I just enjoy all of it. This year's final was great with a number of possible winners. Personally I hoped Innocent would win. I wasn't a huge fan of Sydnie really. But the whole thing was wonderful.

Clawdy

Seemed a bit unkind to list all the votes from the bottom. Why not just the top three?

I thought that as well.
Totally unnecessary.

The problem with taking singers out, is that this is the only competition where they can choose their own songs to display their talent, not have a different genre forced on them every time.
If Eurovision can include Australia, Israel etc, why not have performers from other countries coming to Britain?

Discussing this with friends today, although I never watch it. Why is it called Britain's got Talent, suggesting it is made up of acts from people who live in the UK and NI, when it actually has people who travel in from abroad to take part ?? Canada and Japan etc.

I agree. Another reason I quit. And the sob stories.
But no worries. I am maybe not the target audience. Doesnt matter in the great scheme of things.

Looks like there were 3 pianists who sang and two singers in the last 10 years.
Too many for me personally.

BlueBelle Mon 03-Jun-24 16:39:52

Freya5 nothing to do with home grown contestants it’s held in Uk so hence the name it takes part in Britain
British contestants take part in Australias got talent Americas got talent etc etc

I havent watched it in a few years.
I think singers should be taken out of the competition. So have done my own personal boycott!
Not surprised that yet again, a singer won.

Out of the 10 most successful acts to win BGT only 2 acts were singers.

I was going to write "really"?

But what do you mean by 10 most successful.

merlotgran Mon 03-Jun-24 16:33:06

I liked BGT in the early days with much more home grown talent and less sophisticated acts. Diversity was breathtaking but now there’s loads of ‘em and Susan Boyle was definitely a one off.

The judges didn’t show off, even Piers Morgan was good and for a sense of the ridiculous, Stavros Flatley were spot on!

Like a lot of reality stuff I think BGT has had its day.

My next door neighbour kept asking who I liked, and I had to pretend I'd been watching.

Then she said "How about we watch the final together?"

I thought they were all mundane.
Innocent was good, and I liked the jugglers and those pants

Mollygo Mon 03-Jun-24 15:59:20

Actually, Poppyred, that explains how the votes can be so different. In the other rounds I’d have put him through. In the final, I didn’t even think he deserved second place.

AGAA4 Mon 03-Jun-24 15:57:51

I don't usually watch BGT but after an exhausting day driving then 5 year old GS birthday party I needed something easy to watch.
I think the magician who came second and Innocent were more worthy winners. It gets a bit repetitive when the ones who do the vocal gymnastics win so often.
Sydney has a lovely voice but there are so many like her.

Poppyred Mon 03-Jun-24 15:49:21

I thought the runner up should have won, he was brilliant! I agree that the shows title should be changed, they come from everywhere!

MissAdventure Mon 03-Jun-24 15:31:27

Gone with the wind. grin

keepingquiet Mon 03-Jun-24 13:53:22

I only watched a bit where a woman was burping into a microphone. I switched off and never watched it again.

Mollygo Mon 03-Jun-24 13:49:05

We recorded it so could fast forward both the ads and the sob stories. I enjoyed most of it, especially some of the funny ones like the bloke with the hair (though not the goldfish). The judges are a comedy act in themselves.
I agreed with the winning entry this year.
Fixed? Who knows? There’s always the same cry every year, though never from the winning act.
I thought it was unnecessary, even unkind to call out all 11 in reverse order.

BlueBelle Mon 03-Jun-24 13:43:07

I can’t stand the animal acts I always potter off when they are on Not because I don’t like dogs but I think they are exploited and I know you ll all shout me down and say they love it but I don’t think they do, any more than circus animals enjoy all the hours of training I don’t think they should be allowed just like circuses are no longer allowed dogs might enjoy doing the tricks for their master but do they enjoy the noise, the lights, the smells, the screaming audience, they do it because their master wants them to and they want to please It’s cruel in my eyes
Sydnie had a lovely voice and deserves to get on the stage but should she have won, not too sure, seemed a really nice person too
Innocent was excellent

Charleygirl5 Mon 03-Jun-24 13:42:27

I wanted anybody to win except Sydnie. She has performed in West End London shows and not in the chorus line. I also liked the blind lady with her husband but apart from last year's clown/idiot it would be good to give someone other than a singer a chance.

Innocent the opera singer had a fabulous voice. They should not be told who came no.9 or whatever- it should be the last 3.

merlotgran Mon 03-Jun-24 13:29:38

I watched the final but didn’t bother with the heats.

I think Sydnie was a worthy winner. Great voice!
