I agree it was well worth watching but I did not think it needed tissues!

It was the children awaiting adoption. A friend attended one of those events. I’ve taught children with challenging or traumatic backgrounds.

I thought it was very well acted and dealt sensitively and comprehensively with serious and very important issues but included humour too. I shall certainly continue watching to see how the pair get on.

I thought this was lovely. Definitely will watch it to the end.

I think I'm in a minority here. I hated it - their attitude to the prospect of adopting a child with additional needs was sickening and I thought the Social Worker's attitude was questionable to say the least. I gave up after half an hour.

I haven’t watched it (yet) but am interested. Five years ago a very close friend’s son and his husband adopted a beautiful 4 year old boy with additional needs. He has thrived and is doing very well with this amazing couple, one of whom is a headteacher.

Two of my grandchildren are adopted. It's been hugely
successful .
So was I .

Not everyone is able to cope with the physical and emotional issues of a child with additional needs. For me it's better to recognise and accept this and move forward.
I would never criticise anyone who admitted this.

I've just watched all of it, and loved it. The trailers don't do it justice. It was moving and funny at times and tragic at others. Good soundtrack, too.

Without a doubt, one of the best things I have ever seen on TV.

No need for tissues here but thoroughly enjoyed this.

I don't understand the comparison to 'It's A Sin' (which I also loved), as apart from that they are both about gay characters there is little to connect them.

I don't think LBAF was as good as It's A Sin, but obviously these things are subjective. IAS was so well done that when it finished I really missed the characters. LBAF was good, but in more of a 'fills a rainy day' sort of way, IMO.

Brilliant series, I needed tissues!!

I binge watched it last night. I found the acting very good and it was well made but ( ok I know it’s a drama and not based on real life) didn’t feel a lot of it was credible. I don’t think they would have been deemed responsible enough to adopt a child but I’m no expert in these things. Can’t really say more without giving away what happens.

I completely take back my comment. After reading the above posts, I've just watched episodes 2 and 3 and I now think the whole thing was excellent - very sad in places (no spoilers for those who haven't watched it yet), also enlightening as to the pressures faced by prospective adopters and adoptees. The performance of the boy's mum was so good. I really felt for her.

I only watched the first episode and didn’t think they were suitable to adopt, however perhaps I gave up too soon.

I really don't think that anyone who didn't watch it to the end is in a position to comment. I don't mean that snippily - it's just that the story doesn't necessarily unfold as expected.

I watched it mainly because nothing much else on. I liked the two guys in the couple they made me laugh in places. I know it will only be me who thinks this but I really did not like the concept of an open day where prospective adopters go to an open day in order to view children. It made me feel very sad and even uncomfortable to think that this is reality and that is how children get matched to a family. Someone please tell me this does not happen in reality and children are matched in different ways. To me it felt just like when dogs/cats are on view at an open day in the dogs home. i felt sad for the children

Finally decided to watch this programme and was transfixed. Brave and beautiful production with fine acting and sensitive handling of difficult issues.

The girl who played the child's mother was outstanding.
