Just seen a clip of him at a pride event where he wishes Kemi Badenoch would shut up and disappear. Then he says we should all be kind to everyone. Except women perhaps??

Kemi Badenoch:
"I will not shut up. I will not be silenced by men who prioritise applause from Stonewall over the safety of women and girls."

Another talented actor who has allowed accolades for his undisputed acting talent convince him he is an authority on other unrelated subjects.

I agree very strongly with Badenoch's quote re safety of women and girls.
As for Tennant, he should stick to acting. Good actor and this gives him access to wide audience in which to espouse his views but it doesn't mean they should be listened to any more than the man in the street.

I think you would probably be quite surprised by what his classmates think.

Sparklefizz Sun 30-Jun-24 14:26:08

And those photos will be on the Web for ever!

I think the mother is a lot to blame. She refers to the boy as 'they/them' and has paraded him on social media dressed in rainbow wings and frilly rainbow dresses at pride events. He has just turned 11 and will be easily indoctrinated at this age. What must his classmates think!

I'm really disappointed. As for his 11 year old child, only on the edge of puberty, he/she/they should of course be listened to, but gently encouraged to postpone gender concerns for a while. IMO many - if not the vast majority - of young 'trans' people are struggling with body dysmorphia and the confusing effects of the LGBTQ+ culture, most of which is surely nonsense. I believe the figures show that young people who go down the path of sex-change have a higher incidence of depression, suicidal tendencies etc. than those who do not. I often think we are being infected by a kind of mass madness even to entertain some of this stuff, put forward by a tiny, ultra-assertive, disturbed minority who are guilt-tripping us about our natural biology.

Never been one of my favourites. I saw him in Hamlet a few years ago, he was absolutely dreadful. He evidently speaks without thinking just as he did in the play not word perfect.

David Tennant has gone down in my estimation, firstly for publicly saying that a woman should shut up and also for accepting so easily that his nine year old son was ‘non binary’ and has the pronoun ‘them’. He’s a young boy who may turn out to be nothing of the sort.

I don't wish ill of her I just want her to shut up

Why? He won't.

I can think of multiple reasons why I wish she'd shut up, but I can't speak for David Tennant.

The voters have a choice regularly at the ballot box to choose whether they want to listen to politicians or not.

Seems with a lot of celebs that they think we value their political views.
Hurray for Sir Anthony Hopkins, how refreshing.

Emma Thompson’s oh-so-worthy lefty luvvieness can be exceedingly tedious, I must admit.

Yes, it's like Galaxy says, new information can lead to a change of opinion, and some things are a deal breaker.

Used to like old runs of Lewis until I discovered what a nasty piece of work Fox is. OTOH like Judi Dench more than ever....

VioletSky

Someone tell that to J K Rowling

Would that be the JK Rowling who funds women only refuge's, good on her I say, especially as one of the heads of Scotland’s women refuge is a trans women, who has stated that women need to get over it

Ilovecheese Sun 30-Jun-24 12:39:31

I do think that David Tennant is a very talented actor, he can act even with just his eyes.

There was an amazing trans actress in Doctor Who this season

Galaxy Sun 30-Jun-24 12:35:24

I changed my mind about DT years ago nothing to do with this issue. It's what adults do, when new information becomes known they change their mind.

I would certainly change my mind about someone I had previously admired if I discovered they had racist views. I would not necessarily stop watching them if they were an actor, or talking to them if they were an acquaintance, but I would certainly think about them differently.

sundowngirl Sun 30-Jun-24 12:31:47

And now a male cast member of Frozen the musical is holding up a placard reading 'Protect Trans Youth With Your Vote!' Why can't they just all stick to acting and let us enjoy a night out at the theatre without bringing politics into it. Just because they can act, doesn't make them political experts

Athrawes Sun 30-Jun-24 12:30:44

Very disappointed with David Tennant. I suggest he sticks to acting

VioletSky Sun 30-Jun-24 12:29:50

Maybe an autism thing, maybe I just find things to like about most people unless they are just genuinely horrible people

eazybee Sun 30-Jun-24 12:25:55

That is your problem, Violet Sky.
You lack imagination.

VioletSky Sun 30-Jun-24 12:03:25

I can't imagine writing someone off people previously liked just like that because they have a different view on issues and express some frustration at a person negatively impacting their own child

I have to wonder how this plays out in people's real lives with friends and families etc

Wyllow3 Sun 30-Jun-24 11:59:52

Ditto Laurence Fox....

Plunger Sun 30-Jun-24 11:48:13

Why do actors/ celebrities think we want to know there political/woke opinions? Some like to bring up certain politicians don't live in the real world - well you don't either! How much are Emma Thompson/ David Tennant worth? David Tennant-would you be happy for your wife to have to share a hospital room with a man who had all his bits? Basically, shut up.

Freya5 Sun 30-Jun-24 11:45:19

Whitewavemark2

He has a LGBT child. So Badenoch would not be his favourite person.

Hopefully tactical voting will sort her out.

Hopefully not. We don't need more Tennants in Government, following my leader.

Vile attacks on females isn’t helping trans rights to move forward either.
