Anyone watching? I like Jenna Coleman, but not sure we need another child grooming story. Also hadn't realised there were two different time scales!

Walter presents have some brilliant series on there. I gave up watching the Jetty. 5 have some good series on there which I watch on My 5 just watched Harry Wild with Jane Seymour , Madam Blanc mysteries, think it's called murder mystery with Julie Graham. U drama has some good series on there as well. Can catch up on ITV X now I have a Fire stick.

We dumped this after the first episode. I don't dislike Jenna Coleman but she seemed the least believable detective that I have ever seen and we could not get engaged with it.
We watch a lot of detective stuff including the Scandi Noir and Walter Presents stuff and there's a parade of intriguing, believable , entertaining and inspiring (although fictional obvs) detectives. Sophie Grabol, Jenna. Watch and learn.

Just started watching The Jetty why is the lighting so dark. Couldn't the BBC afford lighting . And the colour looks washed out. Annika is set by water but at least you can see clearly what's going on.

Thank you for the reviews.
It saved me wasting a few hours of my life.

It turned out to be one of those “well there’s a few hours of my life I’ll never get back” series for me. As well as leaving me feeling a bit grubby by association.

Maggie , thanks you’ve expressed my feelings so well. Grubby by association

Callistemon213 Fri 26-Jul-24 17:30:20

It took me abut two seconds to delete it all!!

I didn’t realise for a while that there were two different time zones.
It was better when I did realise, but it wasn’t very compelling. I watched it because there was nothing else on worth watching.

*were two different time zones.

Curlywhirly Mon 22-Jul-24 23:53:37

Just watched the 1st episode and didn't realised that there was two different time zones! Obviously I was not paying attention 🙄 Good job I read this thread before I watch any more episodes, as I'm not so sure I would have noticed!

My sentiments exactly!

Apart from the many other concerns the majority of interior scenes were apparently shot in the dark.

Maggiemaybe Fri 19-Jul-24 18:48:07

I’ve stopped reading comments on here as it looked likely that spoilers were coming up quite early on. Could we leave discussion of the ending till the series has finished please? Not all of us binge watch.

Suspect looks better.

Galaxy62 Fri 19-Jul-24 18:36:38

Terrible but there's nothing else on

Tennisnan Fri 19-Jul-24 18:14:13

I expected to like it but was completely confused by the storyline, very disjointed. I like Jenna Coleman normally but not in this. Couldn't hear some of the dialogues and couldn't read the "notes" held up to the camera nor the pill bottle label. Just not believable really so a 👎 from me.

I don’t enjoy watching Jemma so not tempted.

Iam64 Fri 19-Jul-24 18:04:21

Tawdry is a good description TerriBull. The more I’ve reflected, the greater the unpleasant taste in left me with . Shame, I like Jenna Coleman

TerriBull Fri 19-Jul-24 17:23:39

I was thinking of going back to it after having been thoroughly put off by episode 1, but on reading through many of your opinions, I'm thinking no, I trust your judgements, it sounds tawdry. I'm not going to waste my time. Shame I like Jenna Coleman.

Yes HV was wonderful, that calibre of series only comes along once in a while. Excellent cast James Norton mmmm! So good even when he's so bad.

HV was in a class of its very own. Superb writing, acting, location, music.

Plus James Norton, even though he was a baddie.

😍

I found it tedious and unpleasant. Murky sets, muffled speech, hard to follow.... no wonder I kept falling asleep in it. What happened to quality drama like Happy Valley?

Iam64 Fri 19-Jul-24 14:27:29

Cadeby - you were wise to dip out. The conclusion by the detective was in essence, accepting she’d been neglected groomed and exploited by the father of her child, the man she married. She excused his behaviour because he became a good husband and father. Additionally, she didn’t confess to her own crime so remained a detective
Humph

icanhandthemback Fri 19-Jul-24 14:26:12

I binge watched it but wouldn't bother again. I thought the ending was a bit far fetched.

Cadeby Fri 19-Jul-24 14:12:06

I think this must be one of the most offensive and pointless things I have seen. Obviously abandoned it around episode 3 or so. What a waste of money and talent.
