Mrs Harris goes to Paris.

A lovely gentle watch. Set in the late 50s.

Any decent thrillers/legal thrillers on Netflix? Ie not horror/psychological nasties - if asked, I liked "runaway Jury and the Jason Bourne series.

Daddima - ah - that explains it!

I’m liking The Sinner series on Netflix. Detective drama a but with a bit of a twist.

Oh yes, I loved Find Me Falling.

Lovely film, saw it at the pictures. I would also recommend "Where the Crawdads Sing". Xx

This was the last film I watched with my Mum at the cinema before it became apparent that taking her to the cinema was no longer an option because of her dementia. We both loved it but she just kept saying, "Why on earth did she need to go to Paris?" over and over again! At the time it drove me mad but now I just wish she was able to enjoy a film again.

Yes I remember a similar story in a black and white film, I believe it was Kathleen Harrison in the title role.

Myself and DDs arranged a ‘matinee afternoon’ for my mum (89) and watched this film with popcorn and boxes of chocolates. It was lovely.

Finally managed to watch ‘Where the crawdads sing’, which is a rather romanticised version of the book, but a nice easy, undemanding watch.

Living is worth a watch. A man who discovers he is terminally I'll starts enjoying life and goes back to work and pushes through a children's playground which has been put on the back burner

How we all see things differently. I enjoyed "Where the Crawdads Sing" but I found it quite dark and somewhat disturbing in parts.

Scenes of domestic violence, or violence of any kind, child abandonment and rape are neither undemanding or easy for me. sad

I watched Find me Falling yesterday and that was an easy watch. But definitely shades of "Mamma Mia" in the storyline.

we watched Mrs Harris goes to Paris Sunday night and enjoyed it smile it was a very gentle film

Yesterday afternoon I watched lost boys and the fairies. I wish someone had warned me how sad it was. I really cried blush I most probably needed to but it was such a moving story

Now i don't know what to move onto!

JaneJudge Tue 23-Jul-24 11:46:19

I loved where the crawdads sing

JaneJudge Thu 25-Jul-24 15:20:46

I have started on the sinner and I just cannot watch it

CanadianGran Thu 25-Jul-24 21:21:33

We started watching The Sinner, and I think we got through one season, but there was something about the way it was filmed that bothered me somehow. The lighting was very blueish, and the main character hardly spoke at all. It was all in all pretty gloomy.

I loved Where the Crawdads Sing; I had read the book and looked forward to seeing how they would film the setting and atmosphere. The actual plot was a bit thin at the end, but I could forgive that.

Mrs. Harris was enjoyable - yes, it was a fluffy, shallow movie, but I really enjoyed it for what is was.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople is enjoyable. A comedy-drama set in New Zealand, a boy and his foster father get lost in the wilderness, and a bit of silly manhunt ensues.

Good to have recommendations.

Highly recommend"Green Book" is brilliant, top film.

still on the lookout for not too OTT thrillers/crime.

"Sinners" sounding a bit gloomy

JaneJudge Fri 26-Jul-24 08:13:24

Oh there was just so much blood in the first episode that I hade to turn off re the sinner

I started watching high country on iplayer and it’s less gory!

Aveline Fri 26-Jul-24 08:43:35

I really wish there was a second series of High Country right now!
Fisk is very good too btw. It's a comedy series but I really enjoyed it. Australian TV is really good.

JaneJudge Fri 26-Jul-24 14:07:31

I've just finished High Country, it was really good. I've hurt my knee so I'm trying to rest up btw...

JaneJudge Fri 09-Aug-24 09:41:28

Yesterday i watched Georgia rule and that was very good too

Not sure what to watch now...
