Mrs Harris goes to Paris.

A lovely gentle watch. Set in the late 50s.

This was the last film I watched with my Mum at the cinema before it became apparent that taking her to the cinema was no longer an option because of her dementia. We both loved it but she just kept saying, "Why on earth did she need to go to Paris?" over and over again! At the time it drove me mad but now I just wish she was able to enjoy a film again.

It was just a lovely and easy to watch film - really enjoyed it 😀

We really enjoyed The Green Book too

Lovely film, saw it at the pictures. I would also recommend "Where the Crawdads Sing". Xx

Oh yes, I loved Find Me Falling.

I’m liking The Sinner series on Netflix. Detective drama a but with a bit of a twist.

Daddima - ah - that explains it!

Any decent thrillers/legal thrillers on Netflix? Ie not horror/psychological nasties - if asked, I liked "runaway Jury and the Jason Bourne series.

Luckygirl3

Watched Mrs H - it was gentle implausible nonsense and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

How she fitted all her chic outfits in that tiny suitcase I will never know! smile

The outfits were borrowed from the accountant’s sister, who was conveniently ‘away’, and ‘would have insisted’ that Mrs Harris wore her clothes ( which were a perfect fit!)

I remember seeing an older one, which I don’t remember being as implausible as this one!

Lovely film which I saw at the cinema when it was first released but will happily watch again on Netflix

I’ve only ever read Mrs. Harris goes to Paris. I liked Paul Gallico’s books especially Jennie.
so I’ll give the film a try. Thanks for the mention.

I’ve really enjoyed Emily in Paris so far. A new series is a great idea.

I enjoyed the 'Phantom of the Open' yesterday. It was on BBC i-player. Most unexpected but enjoyable British film with a great cast.

hollysteers Sun 21-Jul-24 12:35:26

Watched it a while ago but really disliked it, twee and implausible, just not my type of film, although I love films set in that period on the whole.

A new Emily in Paris starts August 15th. 👗 👠 👜 ❤️

I was trying to think what I'd watched recently, POMS - I quite liked it

Daddima Sun 21-Jul-24 12:16:09

I may just watch that now. Well, this is a day of rest, innit?

I also liked The Miracle Club.

JaneJudge Sun 21-Jul-24 12:10:20

It keeps suggesting this to me and I love Lesley Manville

Puzzlelove Sun 21-Jul-24 12:06:22

We watched it last night and have to say that we enjoyed it. A nice easy one to watch. Wicked Little Letters is coming on next week too. It’s another one that I didn’t get around to seeing at the cinema. Now I’m hoping that Back to Black and One Love will come out on Netflix, they are on Prime but to rent.

Grandmabatty Sun 21-Jul-24 09:58:18

I'm wrong. There was one made with Gracie Fields, apparently and another with Angela Lansbury.

Grandmabatty Sun 21-Jul-24 09:55:00

There was a much earlier version made of this with Peggy Mount, I think.

Sparklefizz Sun 21-Jul-24 09:09:47

Thanks.

Oreo Sun 21-Jul-24 09:09:27

Am pretty sure we watched it on Netflix, yes.

Oreo Sun 21-Jul-24 09:09:01

Just to say😂I wasn’t around in the 40’s, I remember this film on tv sometime in the 70’s.
