Was so looking forward to this, but not sure it worked for me last night. Yet another drug-dealing gangster story. Will watch next episode tonight and decide!

We watched the last episode yesterday ✅

Me too, I thought it was outstanding. My son told me to watch it and we usually appreciate the same dramas, he is also a David Morrissey fan like me.

Allira, I think I didn't even plain very well what I meant. I think the actress is great but disliked the woman she was portraying.

Yes, I understood 🙂

I was trying to point out how versatile she is.
She makes each part she plays believable

Isn't she brilliant!

Great actress. Very convincing, we watched final part last night.

Ilovecheese

I read that this is the first time that Robert Lindsay has used his natural accent in a production.

He spoke in a very posh voice not a Nottingham accent at all. I had heard what you posted too.

Am binge watching at the moment. Can't stand the lady the mother of Nicky. But I guess it's good acting to provoke these feelings.
Finding the whole thing very depressing but will have to watch in the hope they, the murderers get punished!!!

Do you mean Ann Branson?

She was played by Monica Dolan who is such a good actress, she played Jo Hamilton in Mr Bates -v- The Post Office, quite a different character.
Different again when she played Rose West, Marian Thorpe and many other roles.

Ah, ok.

I'm only just catching up, missed most of the first series and episode 1 of this series.

I did hear a "duck" or two the other night (but not from David Morrissey).

Now - Neil Morrissey is from Stafford, not a million miles from Nottingham. Perhaps he should be in it.

kittylester Wed 04-Sept-24 17:21:34

But, in the story his family was from Nottingham. I don't think any of the accents are that bad.

^Is David Morrissey struggling with the accent?^

I always think he speaks a bit strangely, but I still find him quite attractive!

He's a Liverpudlian.

It's not unheard of for people from Liverpool to go and live in other parts of the country, perhaps they should have written that into the storyline and allowed him to use a Liverpool accent.

Up to episode 4 now and finding it increasingly unpleasant.
The only pleasant thing is that the thug who committed the first murder seems genuinely fond and protective of his downs syndrome sister.

rafichagran Wed 04-Sept-24 13:53:15

I really enjoy it and find it gripping.

Calendargirl Wed 04-Sept-24 13:23:02

It’s not a patch on the first series

Well, I think it’s better actually. Must confess I didn’t really ‘get’ the first series, and although I can’t remember much of the plot or the characters, this one is more ‘followable’ for me, if that’s even a word!

Boz Wed 04-Sept-24 11:02:38

Good. Although I sometimes buy food on Amazon!

Boz Wed 04-Sept-24 11:00:46

I am forgetting "real Telly" to quote the late, great Victoria Woods, and defecting to the digital channels.
Apple have the superb "Slow Horses" this week and Disney have started season 4 of "Only murders in the building." Amazon prime is also food and Now have some lovely stuff coming up.
Bear in mind, you can get free subscriptions if you search.
These progs. have what is sadly lacking in Sherwood and Grace Humour and irony and good scripts.

Oreo Wed 04-Sept-24 10:55:25

It’s not a patch on the first series and generally disappointing.
Nothing wrong with the acting it’s the script and how it’s directed mainly.
Hardly anyone seems to react as they would in real life and some preposterous story lines and dialogue. Is David Morrisey struggling with the accent? He seems in danger of swallowing his tongue.

Calendargirl Wed 04-Sept-24 10:45:37

Just watched the last two episodes last night.

Found them quite gripping.

I really don’t think this programme will do anything for the property market in the area!

Allira Mon 02-Sept-24 11:13:27

😁

My colleague thought all the houses above her line were in little rows of terraces.

Jaxjacky Mon 02-Sept-24 11:03:40

North is anything above Winchester for us Allira 🤣🤣

Watched last night, still good, getting very tense.

00mam00 Mon 02-Sept-24 10:49:58

Watched it last night and it was even more dire, but for some reason I will stick with it.

Allira Mon 02-Sept-24 10:23:46

Ok BigBertha - I understand, what is the north differs depending where we sit on this tiny island

One person I worked with years ago in the South-west maintained it was anywhere north of a line between the Bristol Channel and The Wash.
