Embarrassing ads

I m sure it’s been said before but I hate these embarrassing ads. Pet hate at the moment is the lady peeing her pants at the yoga class. Yuk!

Bulky pee pants, the advert where the boy has a mouth on his forehead and the Maltesers one where they introduce gran's boyfriend as her "companion". The bulky pee pants one seems to irritate a lot of posters, so advertisers take note.

Spec savers are imaginative and always very funny.

But I agree about the sanitary ads.
So unsavoury and unnecessary.

Pee, period and erection adverts just shock tactics, we don't need to see them.

I really dislike the ads for incontinence products and sanitary pads. I am also not keen on those that refer to constipation or the horrible smells that people make. Worst of all for me are those advertising products for fungal nail conditions or earwax in graphic detail. The thing is, we are adults and we know there is a need for these products but we don't need to be shown every intimate detail, especially if we happen to be eating something at the time.

Oh and the ones about the home security products.

A woman seen sitting with her mother, worrying about the poor old dear being alone.

Mother looks to be a similar age to daughter.

Most (well ALL) advertisements are cobbled together by moronic low-lifes who aim for the lowest common denominator. Other low-lifes.
And they seem to work judging by company profits.

The one that really irritates me at the moment is the two women comparing plug-in air fresheners and one of them going over to the other side and saying”it’s so fresh”🤨
It’s her tone of voice, you’d think she just discovered the wheel

I like the twix ad with the bears.
So glad I’m not the only one who hates the pee pants ad.
Who remembers the roller skating pandas?

Etoile2701 Wed 04-Sept-24 17:23:32

I love the Kelloggs one where a man is getting all passionate in bed but the woman would rather eat her cornflakes. It always makes me laugh.

Etoile2701 Wed 04-Sept-24 17:16:31

And I can't stand the one with the person who has a mouth on their forehead. These ads actually put me OFF buying the product. But I do like the talking boxer dog although my husband hates it!

Etoile2701 Wed 04-Sept-24 17:08:52

I can't stand the one where people are going to bed in the park; the Tesco ads; we buy any car; anything to do with incontinence pads or periods; AA and most car adverts; funeral plan ads and the chocolate bar ads with two bears salivating over two men ..... but I do like the Maltesers ad; the Snickers ad where there is a misunderstanding about a partner swap and the Flash one with a man, a boy and a dog.

David49 Wed 04-Sept-24 17:08:33

The Crunchynut Cornflakes is a bad advert, because you remember the stunt not the product

Visgir1 Wed 04-Sept-24 17:05:59

Pure Cremation, " must get ours done" is really irritating. Also, the ones you can clearly see are dubbed.

David49 Wed 04-Sept-24 17:02:48

My only comment is that there must be a massive profit in women’s protection to pay for all the adverts

I agree with all the leakages, bodily fluids, slurping comments!
There are a couple of new ones for Crunchy Nut Cornflakes. Couple in bed - say no more - but she would rather eat her crunchy nuts …. I can’t believe how they think this will persuade any sensible, right minded shopper to buy

That one is truly awful!

Etoile2701 Wed 04-Sept-24 17:00:38

I agree with you about the crypto currency ad but I can't stand the 'we buy any car' one and the funeral plans - ugh!

What about the ‘period’ weather forecast 😡😡😡

Harris27 Wed 04-Sept-24 16:43:52

Feel quite embarrassed when sitting with sons or hubby when the sanitary ads come on. And that awful women doing yoga in her tena pads. Absolutely awful is nothing sacred.!

Lyndie Wed 04-Sept-24 16:37:31

A lot of the ads. would be foreign company ads. Other cultures have difference sensitivities and humour.

Loobyloo12 Wed 04-Sept-24 16:34:39

And ....what do they take us for?! Stupid ads with cartoon animals. I don't want to buy a serious product advertised by a child; cartoon; or fluffy pet! As for sanitary and incontinence wear! Some of us like to be discreet......yes, grrrrrr!

HousePlantQueen Wed 04-Sept-24 16:24:37

I happily ignore any adverts which come on in the rare occasion that I am watching 'live ITV' but the ones that 'give me the rage' are the online gambling ones. They show happy, smiling, friendly people having a great time when the reality is someone desperate and suicidal and alone. When I take over the UK, take notice that they will be banned immediately.

HousePlantQueen Wed 04-Sept-24 16:20:13

I saw an ad the other day where they were pouring red liquid on to a sanitary pad. Really, do we need to see that to know what happens? 50% of the audience KNOW what happens. Spare us please!! shock

Apropos the red liquid, it used to be blue liquid that was used to illustrate periods, but I did read somewhere that Claire Rayner, agony aunt, reported lots of worried teens contacting her because theirs was red. Years ago of course.

The adverts for panty liners, Tena etc send me off to my pelvic floor exercises. grin

I hate the one that shows single parents having a good time.
I like the funny ones, the AA ad always makes me smile.

I'm sorry, why shouldn't single parents have a good time? Has their life got to be total doom and gloom? That aside, it's just possible that these ads making people come all over Lady Windermere actually help some people. Those who are shy, nervous, don't have/never had the support most of us take for granted might just find a clue about things that could make their life less stressful. If you're that delicate, roll your eyes to the ceiling, stick your fingers in your ears and hum loudly until it's over.
