Strictly restarts this Saturday when it will be the pairing up of celebs and pros..... which may even be less cringe-making than usual. grin

I don't know many of this year's celebs, but nothing new to that, and no doubt I shall get hooked in as usual.

Having watched the results show I'm going to stick my head above the parapet and put one forward for Wynne here.

Both Shane and Nick had their arms around the waist of their partners when the judges were talking. A lot of the male pros had arms around the waists of partners talking to Claudia.

Wynne looked frightened to go anywhere near Katya - he barely touched her when they found out they were safe and also very subdued generally.

Given she wrapped her legs around him at the end of their dance, - has leant on his shoulder - held his face in her hands - he probably didn't think he was doing anything untoward or unwelcome as there clearly is a level of familiarity between them.

Common sense post. Most people want his head on a stick!

Katya posted another clip this morning. I saw it on BBC news. She said the hand incident was a very silly in joke between the 2 of them and it was absurd for anyone to think it made her feel uncomfortable.

“The lady doth protest too much”.

The truth is Calendargirl that we will never know whether you are right in your assumption or not. I feel for Katya though regarding the negative publicity, and I think we should take what she says at face value - at the end of the day it’s about the dancing not about the relationship between the professional and the dancer, which is for them to sort out. There is a chaperone so I highly doubt anything else will happen.

ferry23 Mon 14-Oct-24 09:28:11

I'm not keen on Katya. She is a talented dancer and choreographer but she caused controversy by having an allegedly "drunken" snog with Sean Walsh a couple of years back which ultimately ended her marriage and now this with Wynn.

He really doesn't seem to be the type. I don't want to sound naive as I know this could be said about a number of people who have been outed as abusers/sexual predators, but he really looked to be somehow diminished in the results show.

I don't understand how this could be a joke or a mistake as Katya is claiming.

The Results Show is filmed within an hour of the actual show ferry23

The hand incident clip hadn’t gone viral on social media then.

Katya is the only one who knows how she felt.

Yes I do know that the results show takes place after the live show - doesn't everyone? But the broadcasting time of the results show has no relevance. When it was picked up on SM also has no relevance.

It happened when it happened. The timing of the show or the furore on SM makes no difference.

Of course only Katya knows how she felt, I'm not implying otherwise. And only Wynne knows his part in it.

The thing is, that something which would have caused little comment last year, is really under the spotlight this year, obviously I don’t know what the story is, but I agree, that Wyn looked very uncomfortable.

Sparklefizz Mon 14-Oct-24 10:39:06

I suspect "words were said" , probably by the producers, in the interval between the end of the first show and the filming of the results. They don't want any more suspicions or scandal regarding the programme.

It would have been better if Katya and Wynn had not given their rather strange explanations which made the whole situation worse. They should have just let it go ......

Anniebach Mon 14-Oct-24 10:41:52

The explanation was most strange

Casdon Mon 14-Oct-24 10:42:56

I don’t agree on that Sparklefizz, because social media wouldn’t have let it go until there was some kind of outcome.

Calendargirl Mon 14-Oct-24 13:16:50

One would think so, but the judges now seem to make a huge thing about the ‘connection’ or ‘rapport’ between the pros and their partners. So if one of them isn’t keen on the others physical gestures…. doesn’t bode well for future weeks.

Grannynannywanny Mon 14-Oct-24 13:26:30

I think regardless of what actually happened it’s going to cost them votes.

DanniRae Mon 14-Oct-24 13:50:07

I agree! Grannynannywanny

ferry23 Mon 14-Oct-24 14:09:30

You've got a lot of egos at play here now that a lot of the pro dancers consider themselves to be celebrities these days.

I'm just very surprised that Katya reacted the way she did when not long before she wrapped her legs around his body. And he was doing nothing more than any other male celeb.

All a bit strange.

Anniebach Mon 14-Oct-24 15:15:36

With other men be fearful of placing a hand on their partner’s waist? They certainly must avoid bottoms and thighs

Sara1954 Mon 14-Oct-24 15:21:05

It all seems really silly, and the explanation even sillier.
But as others have said, it’s bound to cost them votes x

merlotgran Mon 14-Oct-24 15:24:29

Anniebach

If he’d left his hand just placed on her waist there wouldn’t have been this furore.

It wasn’t a dance move. He was taking liberties

Anniebach Mon 14-Oct-24 15:39:40

You saw taking liberties, I did not

Sparklefizz Mon 14-Oct-24 17:34:58

Many many others saw "taking liberties" Anniebach. My daughter immediately texted me about it at the time. In your opinion what would be the reason for his hand to be creeping round?

Anniebach Mon 14-Oct-24 17:51:16

Yes many others, I didn’t, and it has added a little excitement to
a boring tv show

petra Mon 14-Oct-24 19:10:16

After reading comments on MN I watched the results show again. Wynn was very uncomfortable with Katya.
He had his hands behind his back the whole time.
When it was announced that they were through he didn’t know what to do.
It wasn’t until Katya put her had on his chest that he put his arm round her.
Then he went back to holding his hands behind his back.
So then I looked at the results from last week. His demeanour was entirely different when waiting for the results.

Sparklefizz Sat 19-Oct-24 16:22:39

I'm sure Wynne and Katya's behaviour last week will affect voting tonight so I'm expecting them to be in the dance off.... not sure who with, though.

See you later.

Anniebach Sat 19-Oct-24 17:01:09

It will please some, excitement in a very boring show

Sparklefizz Sat 19-Oct-24 18:00:45

It's not "very boring" Anniebach for those of us who enjoy it. Each to his/her own ......
