Strictly restarts this Saturday when it will be the pairing up of celebs and pros..... which may even be less cringe-making than usual. grin

I don't know many of this year's celebs, but nothing new to that, and no doubt I shall get hooked in as usual.

Cross thread!

Pete's pink trousers will get the votes!

Calendargirl Sat 16-Nov-24 19:51:11

I’ve said this before in previous years, but I find the other dancers rather distracting at Blackpool.

Just watched JB and Lauren, had a job spotting them at times.

rafichagran Sat 16-Nov-24 19:57:28

I have always liked Pete, but tonight was not his night. At least he had a sense of humour.

escaped Sat 16-Nov-24 19:58:29

Tasha is now my favourite. Her dance was so sharp. I liked it because I'm a ballet fan.

I might have to watch Pete again to check a couple of bits …

Don't know what it is about Tasha but I find something rather 'manufactured' about her dancing, possibly because she has worked as a professional dancer. To me her undeniably perfect appearance and performance lack personality and passion, and I dislike the too frequent references to bullying throughout the series.
Chris makes very little reference to his lack of vision other than as a joke. I noticed at the end of the opening dance one of the professionals was instantly at his side to guide him off the dance floor, and thought how terrifying it must be to be in an unfamiliar environment surrounded by noise, flashing lights and dozens of people, aware that millions are watching you.

Calendargirl Sun 17-Nov-24 07:38:26

He won’t be aware of the flashing lights though, eazybee.

kittylester Sun 17-Nov-24 07:44:53

Some blind people are though.

I spotted the man who was immediately by his side, eazybee. I love Chris and is bravery. I thought his dance last night was phenomenal. And all credit to Dianne.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 17-Nov-24 08:00:56

I want to Chris to win.

To me he is what Strictly is all about, never danced before with the addition of being blind.

I also like Sarah, cannot take to Tasha plus she is a trained dancer!

escaped Sun 17-Nov-24 08:19:21

I loved the way Chris said he does his own thing and let's everyone else dance around him! All credit to the professionals. There was one moment in the number where he alone was slightly out of line, and one of the men skillfully brought him back into line.

There's a few who could be in the dance off tonight - Wynne, Pete, Montell and even Jamie.

Calendargirl Sun 17-Nov-24 08:37:12

I think the dance off will be Pete and Wynne.

They are both the weakest.

But yes, Montell could also be in there.

Grandmadinosaur Sun 17-Nov-24 08:44:35

I want Chris to win too. I loved his dance last night. I also like Sarah and despite being a Fosse fan wasn’t keen on her CC dance.

Not a fan of Tasha either she has had the same standard all the way through. Much prefer seeing improvements along the way.

Casdon Sun 17-Nov-24 08:57:03

Sarah is a trained dancer with a lot of experience too, which puts me off her winning. JB is my favourite, although Chris is amazing. I agree with escaped about who could go tonight, all those four are vulnerable I think.

Grannynannywanny Sun 17-Nov-24 08:57:39

That was an enjoyable evening of entertainment. Chris and Diane were the highlight of the show for me. I love Sarah and Vito but I was a little disappointed in their performance last night.

I watched it with my 18 year old granddaughter and we had my 11 year old granddaughter, 100 miles away, messaging us back and forth during the show on our WhatsApp group. During Pete’s performance they both posted at exactly the same time ‘I have no words” 😆

Sparklefizz Sun 17-Nov-24 08:58:18

I hope Wynne leaves this week. In my opinion he has never deserved the high marks the judges have awarded. I feel that they just wanted to get him to Blackpool. Now he can go.

The standard of dancing was excellent from most couples last night. It will be tough to see good dancers voted out over the next few weeks.

escaped Sun 17-Nov-24 09:05:16

JB is my favourite
You and me both Casdon. Such a lovely person, too, it seems.

ferry23 Sun 17-Nov-24 09:12:14

I felt Montell and Johannes were let down the music (again!). Dancing a Salsa to a tune without a salsa beat must be a real challenge. When the band played a few bars of Latin beat in the middle it came to life but just for a few seconds.

Plus she had an awful pair of clonky silver glittery plimsolls on which did her no favours.

I'm with escaped, Pete , Wynne, Montel or possibly even Jamie tonight.

NotAGran55 Sun 17-Nov-24 09:18:35

Wynne to go in the dance off with Montell. I think Wynne was kept in by deliberate over marking after the handsy/joke incident.

Grannynannywanny Sun 17-Nov-24 09:20:59

I agree ferry23 about Montell’s footwear and also their choice of music. I’m wondering if she might be in the dance off with Wynne. If so, I suspect the judges will save Wynne yet again.

I have a feeling Pete’s over the top silly dance will win him votes and he’ll go through to next week.

escaped Sun 17-Nov-24 09:25:55

But he didn't really dance at all. Just strutted about and stretched out his arms!
You're right, the trousers might save him!

JB and Lauren covered the entire ballroom floor whilst dancing.

Charleygirl5 Sun 17-Nov-24 09:47:07

I love watching Johannes dance so I want Montell to stay. Pete's trousers were almost painted on. Possibly he and Wynne may be in the dance-off, but if his trousers save him it will be Montell I think, with Wynne going.

Grannynannywanny Sun 17-Nov-24 09:54:37

If it’s Montell and Wynne in the dance off I’m not confident the judges will save Montell. I think Wynne is consistently overmarked every week. The judges love him.
