Strictly restarts this Saturday when it will be the pairing up of celebs and pros..... which may even be less cringe-making than usual. grin

I don't know many of this year's celebs, but nothing new to that, and no doubt I shall get hooked in as usual.

Only 3 couples left.

Thank goodness, it’s seemed very looong tonight.

Allsorts Sat 21-Sept-24 20:59:57

I loved the opening dance, don't know some of the contestants.
Found myself on my i pad and wondering off making tea etc.. The magic has waned for me although they all work hard. I find it all bit false somehow. The footballer just was awful, why did they have him and why would he do it, he surely can’t need the money,

‘False’ and ‘Forced’ are the two ‘F’s’ I feel apply to tonight’s show.

It’s as if they are trying too hard to make us forget all the stuff that’s gone on with the show in recent weeks.

Perhaps when the contestants reduce a bit it will seem better, but tonight has seemed to go on and on.

Montel and Johannes - Wow! A great first dance.

Sweetpeasue Sat 21-Sept-24 21:09:32

Wow- Dance of the night for me. Johannes is as usual mesmerising too. Gladiator lady was just great- so sorry forgotten her name.

Sparklefizz Sat 21-Sept-24 21:14:00

I loved Chris McC, and he certainly put Craig in his place!

RosiesMaw2 Sat 21-Sept-24 21:26:11

Isn't Johannes THE most elegant and graceful dancer?

Grandmadinosaur Sat 21-Sept-24 21:29:23

He really is RosiesMaw2 and a such a gentle and lovely person.

I really “took” to Wyn , the opera singer. The few comments he made in both shows were very amusing. And his dancing will give him a good few weeks.

Gosh that was a bit of a marathon wasn't it?

Mixed bag for week 1 - definitely a few surprises.

Whoever chooses the music should be hung drawn and quartered - at least some attempt at dance appropriate music would be good. The American Smooth, the first Samba, the Paso and the Tango must have been nightmares to choreograph and probably one of the cha-chas as well.

Mollygo Sun 22-Sept-24 03:14:08

Watched it on record, so skimmed through the intros and when the waffle got too tedious.
Johannes ✅, Chris and partner ✅ especially when you consider he can’t see what it’s supposed to look like. The singer✅ though I don’t think he’ll last long.

Loved the programme though Motsi got on my nerves. Some of the music was dreadful. For week one the standard was high. Chris was incredible. It made me feel very emotional

ferry23 Sun 22-Sept-24 11:05:37

I wonder if Diane choreographed that by herself or if she had some appropriate help?

It certainly wasn't an easy routine and even if there was some additional help, they clearly already have a great relationship to have been able to pull that off - hats off to both of them. He was considerably better than some of the others for sure.

Clawdy Sun 22-Sept-24 11:56:58

Claudia's dress looked like something from Star Wars.

eazybee Sun 22-Sept-24 12:08:01

I enjoyed it although there are too many couples and it lasted too long. I thought the standard of the dancing was high, considering there were some difficult dances for the untrained; everyone was on the beat, no-one forgot their steps and they all put on an entertaining performance. Toyah Wilcox needs to let go of the idea that she is a famous punk star and concentrate on her steps; she has the ability to improve but I think she likes to give an individual interpretation.

NotAGran55 Sun 22-Sept-24 12:20:49

Why does Motsi SHOUT ALL THE TIME?

Charleygirl5 Sun 22-Sept-24 12:24:17

I also thought the standard was high for week 1. I see next week we are back to the Sunday evening nonsense. It would have been better to remove the padding and have the show done and dusted on Saturday.

Somebody in the audience always spills the beans so we know in advance who is going out.

Again the standard will be very high in the last few weeks.

Calendargirl Sun 22-Sept-24 12:29:37

I thought both Motsi and Shirley were quite rude, talking over Craig and hardly letting him finish one of his summaries.

I agree that Motsi is too loud, and Anton appears to try and emulate Bruno at times, with extravagant gestures and OTT pronouncements.

Allira Sun 22-Sept-24 12:38:28

Craig looks rather dapper with his new beard 🙂

Where you out of the room when Toyah was attempting the tango.
It wasn’t so much that she forgot the steps but made up her own as she went along 😱

Alongside the most peculiar head flicks ever seen on Strictly.

😳

Ilovedogs22 Sun 22-Sept-24 14:57:57

Absolutely agree with you Carlotta 👍

Ilovedogs22 Sun 22-Sept-24 15:00:42

Yes, Craig looks blooming fabulous! 😍

Crossstitchfan Sun 22-Sept-24 15:02:18

Marilla

I used to really enjoy Strictly, but I am tired of the same old format. The fillers for example with the journey of the celebrities. Dance couples out visiting places to get a flavour of what they need to put into the dance that week.
It’s all just padding. Daft props that are used for seconds in the opening of a dance. Oh God I could go on. I don’t think I’m watching it this year! 😄

I second that! It’s getting annoying now!

Why does Motsi SHOUT ALL THE TIME?

I have never liked her and due to this, I like her even less now!
