I’m loving this. Don’t really understand all the cyber stuff but never mind. It’s really gripping.

Eloethan Thu 24-Oct-24 23:03:45

I thought it was very gripping at the start but then it got more and more ridiculous and I don't know why I even bothered watching to the end. It was just silly.

It reminded me of the other aeroplane one, with all the dead bodies stacking up - plane full of passengers oblivious to it all.

I'm late to it having binged watched it tonight. I really can't decide if it was great or not. Some terrible acting from some of the cast, the lead actors and Sharon Rooney always a pleasure but some of the rest were very poor

Shallow, easily pleased person here - we watch in ‘real time’ and are looking forward to seeing how it all resolves next week.

Usedtobeblonde Tue 24-Sept-24 17:42:53

Well I watched until the end.
What a load of …….

gulligranny Tue 24-Sept-24 17:27:48

Well we watched to the end. Worthy of a Hollywood B-movie review, not a cliche left unsaid or undone. But weirdly compulsive.

Spot on Greenfinch. smile
Interesting subject matter but simply not a credible presentation.

Greenfinch Wed 18-Sept-24 09:26:14

I have watched two episodes and don’t think I will bother with any more. I don’t understand the technology and cannot engage with any of the characters. Sad to say I don’t really care what happens to any of them. A good theme but unrealistically executed.

I binge watch the last about four parts last night. Excellent if overblown and with some interesting thought provoking ideas as we move into an AI controlled world. Ok it was a bit daft and Abby was far too young for her responsibilities but that IS the world we are moving into as older, actually less competent tech bods who are not managing to keep up, are overtaken by young thrusting clever folk. A genuinely honest attempt to show us what our world might be like under the tech bonnet.

merlotgran Tue 17-Sept-24 23:30:47

Well I've finished it and it just gets sillier.

Beyond ridiculous!

singingnutty Tue 17-Sept-24 22:55:07

Episode 1 very gripping. Episode 2 a lot of talking and techie mumbo jumbo. Episode 3 a lot more happening and now intending to keep watching. OH said it’s a bit Dan Brownish Da Vinci Code type of stuff and I reckon that’s a good assessment. Totally ridiculous but keeps you reading/watching.

Pittcity Tue 17-Sept-24 21:57:02

Well I've finished it and it just gets sillier.

Frightening as to what is happening without us knowing about it. The exploding pagers in Lebanon for example.

Allira Tue 17-Sept-24 17:48:46

Pittcity my DH does the same with police dramas always points out what would happen in a real forensic investigation, sometimes want to sellotape his mouth 😂

oh yes, I end up shouting at the screen and then DH tells me to be quiet, he's enjoying whatever.

Allira Tue 17-Sept-24 17:47:50

DH hasn't nodded off yet which is a sign it might just be a bit exciting but I am busy doing craft at the same time so half the time don't know what's going on.

I think Abbey is ok but as for the rest hmm

tidyskatemum Tue 17-Sept-24 17:44:09

It's so bad it's compulsive viewing! I've watched till the end of episode 4 and it just gets worse as it goes on. Wooden dialogue and unbelievable 2 dimensional characters lurching from one disaster to another. I'm beginning to hope the baddie wins.

I can't quite work out whether it is meant to be a comedy or maybe just a black comedy. The welsh woman is so implausible.. but maybe it gets better...

My thoughts exactly.

I tried episode 2 last night. No more gripping than the first episode, as far as I am concerned. The acting lacks credibility. I was so bored I turned off. I do agree with grannybuy's comments though.

grannybuy Tue 17-Sept-24 13:29:11

I enjoyed it, though found some of the acting to be a bit wooden. Abbi didn’t come across as someone who would have a senior, responsible role in an organisation.

Lahlah65 Tue 17-Sept-24 12:24:12

That boy was so naughty to have hidden from his mum like that. I didn’t know why no one told him off! Perhaps he’ll realise that actions have consequences now. Hrrrumph!

TiggyW Tue 17-Sept-24 12:11:45

The cyber boss seems to be a bit of a waste of space - rather like most of the police chiefs in crime dramas. The detectives do all the work! The MP is spot on!! Full of her own importance but completely clueless!!

TiggyW Tue 17-Sept-24 12:08:32

I’m enjoying it - it reminds me of an audiobook I’m currently listening to (Zero Days). Very technical, all based on online hackers. 👍 I imagine it’s all plausible. There again, why didn’t Joe, or any of the other adults, send the boy to his mother? He must be one of the heroes of the plot. Only up to the third episode! 😎

One part of my brain says this is rubbish, but another part is gripped by it. I'm not good at understanding cyber stuff so I get bored with the tech-speak. Overall it's just too chaotic and I don't feel engaged with the characters. Still, I've watched both parts and will probably continue to watch while occasionally finding myself nodding off.

rafichagran Tue 17-Sept-24 10:18:34

My eleven year old Grandson enjoyed it, he will watch the second episode tonight earlier as it was a school night yesterday. I think he likes it because of the IT and hacking side of it.

I like it because if the mix of people on the train, ordinary people who are not perfect or hero's.

FannyD Mon 16-Sept-24 12:40:13

We loved it! It is very different from the crime series we usually watch. Both gripped from the outset, and I couldn’t believe an hour had passed when it ended. (And as my dh pointed out, I didn’t fall asleep once).
We too may binge watch, otherwise we run the risk of hearing/reading about it before the series ends. That has happened to us before.
