Loved it, had to track down the air raid warden, knew I’d seen him before, Durrells and Foyles war, Jeremy Swift.
ACG&S is a comfort blanket.

He was Violets butler in Downton .....Spratt !!

Oh yes! Septimus Spratt!

Thank you 🙂

Dottydots

I've recorded it, so will watch it tonight. I have my bag of nuts and two mince pies at the ready!

2 mince pies and nuts! You little 😈 is it Christmas already?😄

Very pleasant watch. Fits my current non violence viewing.

The business with the black cat was funny!

I’ve never watched Downton so didn’t know that.

This is a lovely series with great actors and the costumes are very well replicated for the depicted time.
I liked the way they gave James an illness that was as far removed from his actual condition that had him discharged from the RAF. His actual illness would have prevented him flying ( by the seat of his pants ) if you get my drift.

So enjoying this already. Would be nice to see Tristan back, though.

OK. Who isn’t already grabbing the Kleenex?

MrR and I LOVE this programme! smile

GrannyGravy13 Fri 04-Oct-24 08:15:01

I must be getting soft in my dotage but I shed a tear last night, I just love, love, this programme 🩷🩷

Were/are Scots people really as starchy as depicted by the MiL? Not my experience thus far.

As with every nationality, there are some who are/were, many who aren't. Most of us north of the border are very far from being 'starchy', I can assure you, especially these days - but I have known some who were like her.

Dammit. We have no television as the landlady refuses to fix the the aerial. Absolutely love the programme. Who are the lead actors in this series?

So sorry about your aerial problem dairymple23. Do you have a smart tv that will let you watch through the wi fi? If it is a recent one you should have all the main apps which just require you to sign up on your lap top or iPad which will give you a code. You may have this already. Other than that you may be lucky with an indoor aerial of some kind.

Recording this series so we can fast-forward through the ads. Watched the first episode last night and when it finished Mr. G and I both sighed contentedly - this is cup-of-cocoa-and-comfort-blanket tv, something we all need now and then.

Clawdy Fri 11-Oct-24 08:02:14

Last night's wasn't quite as good as the previous two,but still very watchable. Wish we'd seen the cow doing the gallop!

Floradora9 Fri 11-Oct-24 21:59:23

I thought the story line in the latest episode was pretty weak . It is really chewing gum for the eyes but passes the time . Did you know there are three different babies playing the one part ?
THey say they would like to find a small part for Christopher Timothy in this reworking of the original . He is now 80 .

aggie Fri 11-Oct-24 22:09:10

This weeks episode is mawkishly sentiment !
The original books were anything but !
The original tv series took a few liberties with the books , but were good
Thes version is nothing like the books or the original series
I wish they had called it by another title so I would not expect good stories and excellent acting !

merlotgran Fri 11-Oct-24 22:46:23

I think the acting is good, especially Sam West but last night’s episode was just pointless.

DanniRae Sat 12-Oct-24 07:19:57

Yes I didn't enjoy last nights as I can't stand the animal that they were looking for. I spent most of the programme with my eyes shut and MrR telling me when it was safe to watch.
It seemed like a very silly story line anyway!
