Drama set in the 1980s where a mother steals diamonds from the shop she works in…Joan character is played by Sophie Turner -born in Northampton and best known for her role in Game of Thrones as Sansa Stark..also she is an activist for WOMEN INTERNATIONAL helping women survivors of sexual violence ..
Think I will enjoy this drama…

I read her book and found it difficult to believe in parts

We really enjoyed watching Joan & binged it in two nights .
However , being a dramatisation I felt that it veered too far from what I’ve read as the true story - ie autobiographical written by Joan herself .
That said it was superbly acted by Sophie as Joan along with the Frank Dillane who was so recognisable portrayed as Boysie antiques expert loved the fashions & music of the time .

Watched all six episodes on itvx, I couldn't move around yesterday so it was a good distraction.
Thought they captured the 80s very well.

Just googled him too he looks better as Boysie than real life 🤣

That had me in tears poor Boysie (yes he was really a sweetie wasn’t he Lisaange ) he really loved Joan

I’ve just watched the last one. Real edge of the seat in places but also sad.

I have slightly fallen for Boysie! I googled him and he looks nothing like Boysie in real life. He has quite a lot of wild hair.

He’s one the main characters in “fear the walking dead” my hubby thought he was American

Really good, watched over three nights. Think she played an excellent part in this drama- didn’t think much of her in GOT to be honest

I keep expecting Del Boy to walk through the door.

Last one tomorrow night.

Very impressed with how everything - clothes, hairstyles, furniture, decor is just so right.

Although a television drama and enjoy it- Please remember this is ONLY a VERY dramatised version of Joan’s storyline. As one who knows the exact truth of it, from the point of view of the criminality and legality involved, just take it all with a pinch of salt!

I think most people watching would realise that - it’s an extended drama, not an investigative documentary.

Watched first 3 episodes last night. Thought attention to detail was excellent (unlike The Hardacres)
Looking forward to watching the rest and maybe buying the book by the real Joan.

Yes it is very dramatised, however the jist of the story is there and she was a very notorious jewel their who took many guises and she did marry Boisy

tickingbird yes she was so abused in GOT and sometimes felt she had very little reaction facially BUT am impressed with her JOAN character and believe she is one to watch..
langelei what is your truth - am interested to know?

She was abused in Game of Thrones too, poor woman. In real life I know she’s been going through a messy divorce and custody battle with one of the Jonas Brothers (American musicians).

I enjoyed the first episode and will be watching the rest in ITVX.

I've seen the first episode and the jury is out. I'll probably watch the next episode as sometime a series is a slow burner and I end up really enjoying it.

Looking forward to seeing this. I’m pleased that Sophie has had the chance to show how good an actor she is.

I keep finding myself talking like Joan! It's a bit disturbing for my poor husband & even the dog looks at me askance. 😙

Mt61 Thu 03-Oct-24 09:56:28

Started watching on catch-up, my only gripe is the music is so loud, I can barely hear what the character is saying- I am finding that more & more with dramas & film

We watched this recently, and enjoyed it so much that we watched all episodes. How sad that so many children suffer because of the lives their parents lead.
