I wondered about the forensic thing too.
I suspect some of Martha's 'pyjamas' are her daywear, though.
Working in someone else's home
Is anyone watching?
I never like the housemates in the first few episodes as they squeal too much, but apart from that they don't seem too bad this time.
The twist about the storage area has potential.
The girl who went in first (Rose?) is going to annoy me by keeping her mouth open in faux surprise. It's obviously fake and I want to tell her she'll catch flies if she does't close it.
Any more thoughts?

Nathan - yep all a bit 'dubious' including his romance with Rosie aka Baked Potato
I would like to see Marcello evicted on Friday.
And then there was Ali saying that ‘forensic’ meant the ‘legal side of psychology’, and Martha saying she had only brought one pair of pyjamas into the house, then appearing in at least two other pairs ( of course, that may have been a lie to help her win the cake task), but she is just so fake!
Yes, the butler claims seem a bit dubious. How do you go from that to being a pork salesman (or vice versa)? I thought you had to work up from being a footman to get to butler status, or is that just in Downton Abbey/
Well, I’m trying to catch up, so am just three or four days in, and just about managing to ignore my personal bugbear of ‘like’ being every second word!
So far this seems much less manufactured than previous ones, and looks to be concentrating on the personalities, which is much more interesting ( for me, anyway)
I am a bit confused about Nathan alleging to have been King Charles’s butler, especially as he said he was ‘ much younger then’, and is hardly an old man now! I think he did say it was at Dumfries House, but I still think he’s maybe exaggerating a wee bit.
I’m wondering why I’ve not seen much mealtime activity, but presumably that will come.
And, I’m not taking to any of the women, especially Martha with her fake ‘caring’, and Ali with her just fake!
Agreed. Lily seems to be playing the role of a toddler.
Ali's clearly not as clever as she thinks she is, but now she's been rumbled she will play the victim for all it's worth.
I agree with you about Ali Doodledog. I missed a few episodes and when I resumed last night I thought she’d had a personality transplant since last week. Manipulative and stirring trouble.
I’m not sure about Lily. I think she’s more intelligent than she’d like us to believe.
Both are worth catching. I read the book when it came out, and enjoyed it. Yes, it was Josh Must Win.
What do people think of Ali? I find her awful. She's so manipulative and sly, and seems to think she's a cut above the others. The other day she was claiming that smutty talk could jeopardise her professional status, but IMO if her employers saw her behaviour they would think twice about keeping her on.
Thank you, Googles!
Ben Elton book is Dead Famous, and The Underdog- Josh Must Win was the Channel 4 programme, which looks to still be available.
Doodledog
Did anyone see a programme called something like Joel Must Win? A panel of ‘celebrities’ manipulated a BB-type set up so that an unassuming contestant would win. They could change rules, alter tasks to make him more popular and so on.
It was really interesting to see how these things can make such a difference. It’s worth trying to find it if you haven’t seen it and are interested the dynamics of reality TV.
That sounds very interesting, and I think I’ll have a look for that! Ben Elton wrote a book about a BB type programme, which I remember thinking probably contained some truths. Of course, what I don’t remember is the name of it!
I confess that I have not seen it for years, since the contestants became more outlandish, but I think I’ll have a look after reading this ( as a wee dabble in mental deficiency, you know).
Also, the point about discussion about programmes like this is a good one. It can be interesting to hear others’ opinions on things like these programmes, as we can’t be having intellectual discourse all the time!
I watched last night after missing a few episodes while staying at my son’s. Pairing them for nominations was interesting. Ali seems to have come to the fore since I watched last week. I felt sorry for Khaled when she cut him off mid conversation and walked off. I think if she wasn’t immune from nomination this week she’d be the next to go.
I’m not convinced by the budding romance between BP and Nathan. Some body language experts say that nose touching/rubbing during a conversation can be a sign that the person is lying. It made me laugh last night to see Nathan giving his nose a good old rub on 2 occasions while saying he was falling for BP 😆
I am rather behind due to unforeseen circumstances, please continue I enjoy reading your posts.
Is anyone else still watching? I am posting on other forums and enjoying the exchange of opinions, so will sign off here if nobody else cares? I hope the nasty comments haven’t scared people off though?
GN is dreadful for that. It’s an odd combination of censoring unpopular opinions and an insistence that some preferences are ‘superior’ to others.
As I say, I am happy to continue if anyone else wants to, but will equally happily join in elsewhere if not😎.
Here we go for the second eviction. . .
Lily seems like an overgrown toddler.
I have no idea who will go on Friday, though.
I find Daze unbearable, I could not live with her.
I liked Lily until the filthy habits came to light, we would have fallen out by now.
Not keen on Sarah.
Marcella I don't know where to begin, I once worked with someone just like him, he would make a pass at a rice pudding!
Well, what do people make of the housemates now we know them better?
I have missed a few episodes this week because of work, but I am not keen on Ali (the redhead) and the way she seems to pick on Khaled, and twist what he says. She seems to use her psychologist training to do so, but she's not clever enough to do it unnoticed. I quite like Khaled, and think he was in an impossible situation concerning the extra nomination - he just couldn't win whatever he did.
I'm not sure about the dynamic between Nathan and Daze either. I'd like to have seen the unedited version of what happened in the 'vicious attack' the other night. I saw nothing vicious, but I don't know what was left out. I like Nathan more than I thought I was going to - I can see him being in the final three (a prediction which is probably the kiss of death for him
). He doesn't appear vicious at all - he doesn't need to be, as he's articulate enough to make a case reasonably. I suspect Daze could be a drama llama too, so am inclined to take N's side in this one, but of course we could be being played.
I hope Lily goes this week. Her nose-picking and general anti-social behaviour would infuriate me.

Just as there is no need to put down people who prefer factual material (why “spoonfed”? Food for thought, surely?).
Big Brother isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but no need for a taste war. There’s not, but sometimes it does no harm for people to get a taste of their own medicine, and really I was making the point that any of us can criticise anyone else’s tastes if they want to. I did say that I watch the things I mentioned a lot of the time, so no war from me.

I was trying not to give too much away
I actually missed last night’s episode but I’m going to catch up later this evening. I couldn’t avoid hearing who was evicted. Yes, it must be a blow to be first out Doodledog.
No need to hide, Grannynannywanny. It's unbelievably rude, and I have no idea why people do it. It just spoils things for those who do like the various programmes, and as I tried to point out earlier, anyone's taste could be criticised if someone felt the need.
Let's ignore it.
What do people think about the first eviction? I've just watched last night's episode. I was a bit sad for him, as being first out must be a blow to the self-esteem. I wanted Rosie/Baked Potato to go because of the squealing and open mouth thing, but they are hardly valid reasons. At this stage we don't know any of them very well, so it's a bit of a lottery.
I find it disheartening when there’s a thread for chatting about a tv programme and posters come on specially to say they hate it/would never watch it etc. Not quite sure how they can form that opinion without ever seeing it but that’s another story.
If I saw a thread about a topic I had zero interest in I would be unlikely to read it and I certainly wouldn’t take the time to post on it to say I didn’t watch or like it 🤷♀️
I’ve noticed the same happening on the Strictly thread this year. Can we not enjoy a bit of escapism from the grim realities many of us might be facing without moaning Minnies dropping by to spoil it.
Now I’m off to hide behind the sofa 😆

I’m not watching it but I think what people choose to watch on television is purely a personal choice. There’s a lot of what I consider to be complete rubbish on television, but other people like it, so it’s up to them.
