It's a wonderful film - so moving and so well acted.

Ive just watched this thanks to the recommendations on here. Many thanks - it is a 10 from me.

I saw it some years ago and I thought it was very good.
Like Sparklefizz I would give it 9.5 out of 10. Half a point
knocked off for changing the ending.

Saw this film several years ago; wonderful scenery, excellent cast with lovely music. I will watch again so thanks for the tip off

I too am a Somerset Maugham lover, and think his short stories are among the best. I started reading them again on my cruise this year. I loved the film and have read the book - wonderful.

I watched this sometime ago. A lovely film. Edward Norton perfect in the part and so was Toby Jones.

Yes! saw it a few years ago, as others have said it is a beautiful film, very well acted, albeit, as pointed out by Oreo, somewhat slow .

Saw it a couple of years ago, very good, quite slow if you don’t mind that, lovely scenery and good acting all round, films based on books are usually the best kind in my view.

I too saw it a while ago. Excellent film. I read masses of Somerset Maugham’s short stories years ago, they are so good.

He was an extremely popular playwright too, but I sadly never see his plays performed these days.

I read Somerset Maugham's books one summer a long time ago .
Wonderful reads.
Hard to believe that his mother tongue was French and he was mocked at school for his poor English .
I'd like to see the film .

A wonderful film from the book by one of my favourite Novelist's Somerset Maugham. I have the whole set of his short stories and absolutely love them.

I loved the charming French song at the end.
