Is anybody watching this drama series? It’s set in 50’s Australia and covers the lives of and tensions between small town inhabitants of different classes, nationalities and religions.

The background music feels as though I’m listing to my parents’ record collection and I love the fashion.

I can highly recommend it. I’m hooked!

Have watched it before.

Yes, it was very good.

Oldbat1 Wed 13-Nov-24 20:48:36

I watched it a few years ago and can recommend it.

I watched it a few years ago and loved it. It reminded me of watching other Australian dramas in the 1970s when I was a teenager and off school.

I had no idea it’s been around a long time. Can’t believe I missed it.

Loved it my sister recommended it as she watched in Australia when she was over there.

It used to be on in the afternoons, but I don’t have the tv on then.

Think I watched it on the Drama channel.

I thought it was brilliant, loved it.

I saw it years ago when it first came on our screens. It was brilliant. I used to record it and watch it in the evenings.

The music, the scenery, the clothes, cars etc were all just perfect. I put so many friends on to it and they all loved it too.

Isn't it wonderful. I, too, watched it a few years ago and then again, fairly recently, when it was reshown on BBC2 in the afternoon.

I don’t know how I missed it. Never mind. Better late than never.

The family scheming reminds me of good old Dallas only ten times better.

Who remembers The Sullivans - late 70s/ early 80s ? Addictive .

Northernsoulnanna Sun 17-Nov-24 13:12:03

I loved the sullivans tictacnana. My favorite programme.

Last year the whole series (full episodes) started to be repeated on You Tube.
Right from the beginning by a Youtuber.
10 episodes in it disapearedhmm.
Must have been something to do with Copywrite.

essjay Sun 17-Nov-24 13:22:58

wonderful series, could do with more like it. Could do with The Sullivans being shown from the beginning, another cracking series

Frosty60 Sun 17-Nov-24 15:59:02

Yes, I’ve watched it a few years ago…….then when it was repeated again on the BBC channel. Such a good series - was gutted when there was no more made.
I vaguely remember The Sullivans and also I think many years ago my late mum used to watch A Country Practice….that was a great series as well. I’d watch it with her when I was on holiday from work.

Hi, I watched that show couple of years ago and I loved it..The fashion , cars and music make me wish I was around in that era ..perfect x

I'm always looking for a new series to watch. This one sounds good. I've seen all of the episodes on Bull and Columbo. Currently watching Perry Mason. I loved the series called Hell on Wheels a few years ago and Mad Men, This is Us, and others I cannot remember. I'll look for A Place to Call Home. thank you for sharing.

I watched this earlier this year - influenced my Summer dress shopping with the 50's style, such beautiful looks, and so comfortable.

Merlotgran ,
Yes , I must admit to living an Australian drama .” A place to call home “is truly a great series , I throughly enjoyed it , especially the clothes. You know it is a true story 😘

NanaTuesday Sun 17-Nov-24 23:32:19

I watched it a few years ago , possibly during lockdown I binged it . But as it’s a true story it ended where it ended .
As a fan of Australian TV dramas I’ve seen several of the actors in other shows .

nanna8 Sun 17-Nov-24 23:32:55

It’s a good one. For a change because quite a lot of our stuff is pretty dire.
