Just got to have yet another thread for us to grumble about our favourite soap, warts and all.

grin

I agree. It's good to have dislikable characters, as it livens things up. There would be no stories if they were all nice to each other all the time.

Aveline Sun 16-Feb-25 06:33:44

Real life is full of people we don't necessarily like. I think it's good that the writers include all sorts of likeable and unlikeable characters. It would be so boring otherwise. The nasty ones offer scope for new storylines too.

Charleygirl5 Sat 15-Feb-25 23:20:24

I think it is because they are so short of money.

I would happily hire a coach to take Ed, Sarah, the new girl, Dev, sorry, Aveline, but there will be a seat for you, and several others. I am only paying for one way to the local ferry which seems to travel around the world.

Shorter and punchy can’t happen easily though. They have contracts for a small number of characters at a time, hence Carla, Swain and Betsy dominating just now, and Todd, Billy and Summer disappearing. Only the oldies on historic contracts are constants. It’s ruining the atmosphere of the show.

It absolutely is! Why can’t the producers/directors see that?

Crossstitchfan Sat 15-Feb-25 15:22:36

To clarify, my above post refers to both the Classic and the current Corrie. Somehow I am managing to keep up with the storylines of both!

Another who is not keen on the new girl. Let's hope her character is developed and she grows on us.

I do agree - it's difficult to warm to someone who, having seen a woman 'kicked in the 'ead by an 'orse' adds: 'it were 'ilarious'. She'll have to work hard to get on my Christmas card list.

I am another one who loathes the new woman. I don’t like the dreadful (can’t act his way out of a paper bag) Ed either, and spoilt Sarah really gets on my nerves - I want to slap her face. What are the directors thinking, allowing such appalling actors to be in Corrie? They are really desperate employing some of them. Hopefully the new woman won’t last there long but we might be stuck with Ed. I can’t stand the devious twisted-mouthed Tracy either. She is irritating the minute she starts that sly grin. Hate her.
I wonder why I watch it! I suppose it’s because I’ve done so since the start. I keep hoping it will get better, but I probably have more chance of winning the lottery,

Calendargirl Sat 15-Feb-25 14:49:40

Ed hasn’t been around much lately.

Thank goodness.

Aveline Sat 15-Feb-25 10:31:27

The house is still standing. Renovating it could be a nice job for Ed or is he still working on Ronnie's big development plan?

LovesBach Sat 15-Feb-25 10:22:10

A better episode yesterday evening - some sympathetic writing and good acting. Like Sarnia I am wondering why Nick didn't help David a lot sooner - but then of course the house would still be standing, depriving us of a lengthy outcome.
How I agree about Lauren and the sniffling - why do the sobbing women in soaps wipe their noses on their hands, sleeves, any piece of fabric going, rather than get a tissue? Dev must sell them.

Aveline Sat 15-Feb-25 08:34:48

Nick's not 'coughing up' easily. He said he was going to put it in his credit cards or get loans. It would be interesting to see how he describes that to the card companies and banks!

Surely we are not going to have another drawn out prison case involving Max?

Wish he had gone to Belize.

Did he even have a passport? Where were they going to get a ferry from? Do ferries do daily runs to Belize?

Lauren should have accompanied him. Her sniff, sniff, sniff last night really got on my nerves.

“Get a tissue girl and blow your damn nose!!!”

🤧🤧🤧

I was hoping for Lauren and Frankie to go to Belize with Max, too.
Nick seems to be well off. He has paid Leanne for her half of the Bistro and has now given David the money to pay off Harvey. Just think of the hours we have sat watching that ridiculous storyline when Nick could have coughed up right at the start.
The new family are a bit rough around the edges. I hope Corrie doesn't morph into Brassic.

Did Becky not run off with her new man to live and work in a hotel in Barbados? 🤔

Aveline Fri 14-Feb-25 09:18:31

Becky was a great character. I loved her drunken walk down the aisle in a lovely dress.

Clawdy Fri 14-Feb-25 08:56:24

Yes, the painting scene was great. Getting so sick of Abi's agonised face, that made a nice change!
So Max will start a new life in Belize. Should work well, I seem to remember Becky adored him when he was a little boy.

Aveline Fri 14-Feb-25 06:13:07

A lot depends on how well Ahdi manages to run the shop.

Charleygirl5 Thu 13-Feb-25 22:37:23

Aveline your gorgeous cats are going to miss you. I am assuming you will be returning?

Calendargirl Thu 13-Feb-25 21:47:58

I hope Auntie Gita hasn’t met her maker before you get there Aveline because Dev looked very emotional when he talked about her.

His acting skills were really being tested.

sad

Aveline Thu 13-Feb-25 14:51:33

Thanks Charleygirl. Am applying for a visa right now. Can't wait to meet Auntie Gita.

Charleygirl5 Thu 13-Feb-25 14:45:08

Aveline I hope your passport is up to date and you have left sufficient food for that poor DH because you will be on the move soon. Good luck.

Re Becky,
I am sure Belize and it's people are lovely, but it seems an awfully long way way for the uneducated unskilled Beckky, former wife of Steve, to be working.

I might be the only one on here who had to look up where Belize is. blush

I enjoyed Debbie and Abi’s art session. Reminiscent of fun scenes in the Corrie of old.

Calendargirl Thu 13-Feb-25 12:01:42

Oh thanks Nano, I had completely forgotten about Lisa and Betsy lending her the money from Betsy’s inheritance.

Calendargirl Thu 13-Feb-25 12:00:07

I think the new woman’s name is ‘Lou’.

Or perhaps it should be spelt ‘Loo’, bearing in mind the nappy comments?

I thought Carla needed to pay privately to enable Rob to get security for the transplant?

Thousands of £’s.

Where is the money? Jenny hasn’t repaid her for the Rovers has she?

Won’t they want the cash upfront before tomorrow?

Lisa is paying.
