Just got to have yet another thread for us to grumble about our favourite soap, warts and all.

Max is so sweet I hope things turn out for him and Lauren
Don’t see Carla and Swain together

Calendargirl thanks for that, I forgot it took under a week to train a hairdresser. He does not appear to have the time, like many others, to go to work.

Roy appears to put in a day's work and Dev occasionally.

Oh yes and Cassie puts in day and night work methinks 😉😉

I'm not sure if you are talking about David here but he would put most new customers off with the state of his own hair which is unkempt and in need of a watch. I thought Adam's hair was bad but David takes the biscuit.

Have to disagree, don’t find Max sweet at all.

Or Lauren.

I expect things will turn out, in that David and Shona will agree to bringing up baby Frankie, which will be better than yet another baby in this troubled street, (as Shona seemed keen to have a baby), despite their home being sold, no one appearing to do much work, and just generally being a Family At War most of the time.

As for Carla and Swain….. don’t see them seeing eye to eye over how to deal with mardy, stroppy Betsy.

I don’t think Mason’s brothers are that scary and they are really bad actors.

ExDancer Sat 23-Nov-24 10:02:47

Well I'm tired of every second person turning gay in these soaps - the soap world seems full of them!

Calendargirl Sat 23-Nov-24 10:03:06

Plus the brothers are nowhere near as nice looking as Mason.

None of them look to be related in the slightest.

Have they no parents?

Grannynannywanny Sat 23-Nov-24 10:17:59

I think Mason’s brothers look like a couple of corny pantomime villains.

vegansrock Sat 23-Nov-24 10:34:54

Hardly Phil n Grant are they?

Clawdy Sat 23-Nov-24 12:20:37

Would be nice to see Max and Lauren together as a happy couple, make a change from all the unhappy relationships.

Just a thought and I'm not being negative, but when did Coronation St get its nickname? I never heard it called Corrie when I was younger.

Kate1949 Sat 23-Nov-24 17:41:13

We've always called it Corrers. I don't know why.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 23-Nov-24 17:50:17

I liked it best in the early 60’s when I remember watching it with mum on the black and white telly. Ena Sharples, Minnie Caldwell and Martha Longhurst. I got a jigsaw puzzle one Christmas of the 3 of them in the Snug with their glasses of stout.

I watched the first episode, with Mum, on our tiny black and white TV. Elsie Tanner, talking to her daughter Linda, absent mindedly pushed Linda's strap back onto her shoulder. Why do I remember that?

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 23-Nov-24 18:01:38

And Ken Barlow mending his bicycle in the parlour with Uncle Albert moaning.

petal53 Sat 23-Nov-24 18:10:07

I watched it back then FGT and enjoyed it, which is probably why I still watch it now.

Coro in the North East, and also The Street was a term used in the nineties for the soap.

pinkprincess Sat 23-Nov-24 21:41:11

I loved watching Coronation Street in the early days, 1961 I was just starting work and all of us watched it.
Never watch it now, it is rubbish.I just look on the thread on here and make comments!
As I said on that thread, it must be one of the most perfect places to live, no need o do much work, but have plenty of money to spend in cafes and pubs.

dogsmother Sat 23-Nov-24 22:53:27

Corrie is the nickname used here. Irritating habit now and yes I go back to the days of Ena Sharples and Minnie Caldwell.
I do prefer the strong comedic characters to the doom and gloom whiners and villains we have these days and I couldn’t agree more about Masons brothers looking more like pantomime baddies than anything sinister.

Charleygirl5 Sat 23-Nov-24 23:51:50

I keep nagging on about the subject but it is rarely the same script writers two weeks running. That is where the problem lies and why people like Gail end up getting married and divorced multiple times.

Too many whiners and not enough one-liners.

Apart from Cassie the one person I cannot stand is Mary.

BlueBelle Sun 24-Nov-24 06:47:18

Yes it’s called Corrie here in Eastern England too
I don’t like Mary either charleygirl she’s like a rather unlikabe pantomine Dame for me

Aveline Sun 24-Nov-24 06:56:14

For all the complaints about Corrie it's interesting that we all keep watching it. I note there is no thread on EastEnders...
