Just got to have yet another thread for us to grumble about our favourite soap, warts and all.

Another who is not keen on the new girl. Let's hope her character is developed and she grows on us.

Beechnut Thu 13-Feb-25 10:36:40

Ivy Tisley Aveline.

New girl will possibly lead Gemma astray.

Grannycool52 Thu 13-Feb-25 10:35:07

Re Becky,
I am sure Belize and it's people are lovely, but it seems an awfully long way way for the uneducated unskilled Beckky, former wife of Steve, to be working.

LovesBach Thu 13-Feb-25 09:31:14

Janice Battersby was noisy and aggressive, and when she bared those teeth - I would have crossed the street to avoid her. As for Cilla, was there any more selfish, loud, bullying person to ever appear on the Street? What did happen to her - is she still 'alive' somewhere?'

Aveline Thu 13-Feb-25 08:44:39

New characters are often deeply unlikeable but we grow on them. Eg Janice Battersby, Cilla, Gail's mother in law (forgot her name), etc etc
Meanwhile formerly popular characters 'go off' a bit eg Eileen.

Sarnia Thu 13-Feb-25 08:32:13

I assume the new character's husband and children will be just as charming as her. At this rate Coronation Street will resemble a feral council estate.

harrigran Thu 13-Feb-25 08:24:27

If the new character is going to be permanent then I may have to stop watching. In the last 50 years I have not seen a character so unlikeable, she made my toes curl.
I didn't know Abi and Tim were married. I don't read TV magazines though.

Charleygirl5 Thu 13-Feb-25 08:21:50

I also can't stand the sight of the new person. Does she have a name?

I had no idea Abi and Time were married in RL.

I agree, pleasant and kind as Roy is I could not spend long with him.

Grannynannywanny Thu 13-Feb-25 08:05:01

When the new character arrived in Dev’s shop she reminded me of the horrible Courtney who had a relationship with Aadi to make her husband jealous.

Calendargirl Thu 13-Feb-25 06:55:56

And yet another unlikeable new character. If she grumbled about the price of nappies, strange how she could suddenly afford to be in the pub and buying cocktails!

No wonder Gemma and Chesney are in the state they are, Gemma is more like a 12 year old than a married woman with five children.

As if she would start quaffing cocktails in the middle of a work shift.

I was amazed to learn that the actors who play Abi and Tim are married IRL. Am I the only one not to know this?

Probably, yes.

grin

BlueBelle Thu 13-Feb-25 05:06:10

I was really wondering if Kevin is ill in real life he seems to have shrunk and looks really poorly I think

I liked Stu but he’s gone
Dev I won’t miss he’s sweet and nice looking but such a poor actor, at least he is in that role

If that new woman in the shop and Rovers is the new neighbour I AM not going to like her at all she’s a gross character so far I don’t take to her as a character

Will Max being a suspect mean the insurance doesn't pay out?

Aveline Wed 12-Feb-25 21:24:40

It looks like Ed's builders yard.

Grannynannywanny Wed 12-Feb-25 21:11:19

Not sure where Max was hiding but there was a big yellow sign on the door saying CCTV in operation 🤔

Calendargirl Wed 12-Feb-25 21:00:05

Oh, so that’s Max off.

On his jollies to Auntie Becky in Belize.

Calendargirl Wed 12-Feb-25 20:46:44

A week ago, Max and Toyah were at death’s door.

Now they are both back to normal. confused

David says “Max knows he made a mistake”. Understatement of the year.

Loved the pictures of Ronnie and Kevin. What a laugh!

Doodledog Wed 12-Feb-25 20:39:48

I glaze over when the gangster stories are on.

Kevin is looking his age, whatever his age is. I know he's supposed to be ill, but even so. He and Sally are of an age, and she's looking great.

I have always thought Eileen would make a good friend. The old Eileen, that is - she changed personality when she lost weight. Roy is lovable and reliable, but I'm not sure I'd want to spend too much time with him. Agreed about Tim. He's not terribly bright, but he's always pleasant and personable. There may be others, but I can't think of them just now.

Calendargirl Wed 12-Feb-25 20:30:34

I thought Carla needed to pay privately to enable Rob to get security for the transplant?

Thousands of £’s.

Where is the money? Jenny hasn’t repaid her for the Rovers has she?

Won’t they want the cash upfront before tomorrow?

Charleygirl5 Wed 12-Feb-25 12:02:05

Instead of shortish, sharp episodes, some are dragged on until we are almost comatose. Joel's death is a prime example.

The writers do not plan ahead unless they know a character is leaving of their own volition.

I agree with LauraNorderr about the so-called normal characters, but I would add Ken now that he is too old to continue with his philandering ways.

Calendargirl Wed 12-Feb-25 11:18:28

Aveline

Only last month you were all applauding Corrie for the excellent episode of Mason's death.
I'm quite happy to keep viewing. The writers can't win - either the stories are too dramatic or they're too boring!

But that’s just it Aveline, as I think I have written before.

Some great episodes, ,especially, sadly, the death ones, Mason, Seb, Siobhan, Paul, Hayley, and the associated storylines. To name a few.

But then we get such ridiculous, far fetched, unbelievable ones.

Cillafan Wed 12-Feb-25 11:15:55

I'd never grumble about Corrie, I've been hooked for decades, been quite gripping lately, what with Rob wanting to break free, and the Platt's house blaze, new characters are in the offing, Kevin and Debbie's half-brother Carl, and a new couple, who may be 'unruly', but who knows, we'll have to wait and see !

LauraNorderr Wed 12-Feb-25 10:03:17

Allsorts asks if there is any character we would like in real life.
I’d love to have Roy as a friend. Tim is a nice calm and caring man who’d be a good neighbour or even good husband material if Orlin wasn’t even better.
Aadi. and Asha are a lovely pair, I’d be happy to befriend them.
And we all know who’d snog Dev, fortunately not me, so no jealous rivalry there.

Ive just watched the latest episode. Max seemed to spill more petrol on his glove than he managed to get on the rag he pushed through the letterbox. What a good job he managed to wash it all off thoroughly before he struck the match, or he might have gone up like the wicker man.

I’m surprised no one knew it was him on the CCTV before the hoodie was identified. I did - I recognised his shambling walk and overlong trousers.

This often happens - a character in a drama sloshes petrol around, covering their shoes, legs, clothing - and then lights a match, which amazingly only ever ignites the intended item.
