Just got to have yet another thread for us to grumble about our favourite soap, warts and all.

I read that Corrie is in financial straits and having to make cuts. Not sure if that is fake news or not. None of my family watch any more and I think viewers are in general older people.

None of my kids regularly watch soaps.

I used to think they had good old fashioned morals type thing, but those days are long gone on there.
On balance I am glad they dont watch them.

sodapop I do not think that is fake news—I read that also.

Some characters, like Billy and Summer, we have not seen for ages, and I do not think they have been written off.

I had totally forgotten about all of that, your memories are so much better than mine.

Would she be given a student loan for around £29,00 or have the fees shrunk oop north? I doubt if she has the correct A level qualifications.

vegansrock Thu 02-Jan-25 12:24:47

I don’t think it takes 3 years for a legal qualification in Corrieland

Will Evelyn get a student loan ?

But even if she does, she will still need to keep on working in the corner shop. I mean, Amy seems to be full time in the Bistro. And will Evelyn still live at Tyrone’s or will she go into Halls Of Residence?

Is she still at uni though? (Amy, I mean). Keep up at the back.

And what about Summer? Has she gone back to the USA, or is she still moping about at Billy’s?

No doubt in about 3 years, Evelyn will be joining Adam, Dee Dee, Alya and co sorting out anything legal for the Street.

Cassie could easily angle to get power of attorney. She'd have a fright when she found the dubious title to the house. Speaking of which, I thought Steve bought it. He and Tracy used to have a flat and moved in with Ken after they bought the house. Ken lived in that v posh residential home for a while.

Ken would have to rewrite his will - do you think that's poosible? Also, what seems to have been forgotten by the scriptwriters is that he took out the equity in his house to help Tracey's court case, following her murdering Charlie Stubbs, and I recall his saying it seemed odd that the house no longer belonged to him. As a pensioner at that point, he couldn't have removed himself from that financial tangle, so what would Cassie inherit?

How old is Cassie meant to be?

I assume Evelyn over 70, Tyrone mid to late 30’s say, so she must be 50 or so.

Ken is in his 80’s? (I know William Roache is 92 IRL).

So if they did marry, well, not impossible to imagine.

🥰

Ken is 85 and Cassie 58, so, as you say not beyond the realms of imagination.

Calendargirl Thu 02-Jan-25 11:18:28

But just living together….

Cassie wouldn’t get her hands on his money necessarily.

No, they need to make it legit to be sure.

Aveline Thu 02-Jan-25 11:15:52

No need to marry these days!

Calendargirl Thu 02-Jan-25 11:15:29

And let’s face it, the ridiculous, far fetched scripts they come up with….

Ken and Cassie getting wed, not hard to imagine actually.

I must say that Ken does does look a lot happier lately. No fool like an old fool.

Thanks Primrose53. My attention wanders at times when I’m watching .

I wonder where the Cassie and Ken story is going. Does she want him to pop the question or pop his clogs😆
I feel Cassie is going to join the list of reformed characters on the Street who start off as baddies and turn their life around. I wasn’t giving it my full attention. I saw her looking at the bottle of medicine when she was preparing his drink but didn’t notice if she actually used it.

The Carla and Lisa storyline is very frustrating. Carla lying in hospital pretending she was at the airport was ridiculous . Considering Lisa spends half her working day walking round Coronation st and popping in and out of Roy’s cafe it’s hardly going to take her long to hear the truth. I suppose she’ll dash to the hospital and declare her love for Carla. Carla’s solo kidney was given a mention last night. Lisa might prove her love by offering one of her’s if it’s needed.

Cassie has been seen putting stuff in Ken’s drinks. That is why he is so drowsy and dopey lately.

Mason's brothers are hardly the Kray twins compared to Harvey & Co. I find myself fast forwarding through so much Corrie these days and have a sense of dread that the Daniel, Daisy, Beth love triangle will go on and on and on.

Aveline Thu 02-Jan-25 07:59:28

Apart from anything else her new 'girlfriend' is in and out of the cafe the whole time and will soon find out where she really is.
Are Mason's brothers really the only criminals in Weatherfield? Very convenient for all concerned.

Calendargirl Thu 02-Jan-25 07:16:01

Yes, Carla lying about where she was -ridiculous.

What if she’s in hospital a while? What if she needs treatment?

When will the residents of Corrie realise that they should ‘speak the truth and shame the devil’?

Please don’t inflict Ken and Cassie in bed on us!!!

FishandChips15 Wed 01-Jan-25 12:02:29

According to the online Radio Times. Corrie is on at 7pm for an hour.

Lovetopaint037 Wed 01-Jan-25 11:30:52

Yes the Carla/Lisa story line is quite mad. Wonder what Peter will think when he hears about it! Or perhaps he will be bringing a “boy friend” home to meet Carla. I’ve watched Corrie since 1960 and I am addicted to it as so many of us are. So what to do? I am a lost cause so the chaos and mayhem will continue. What time is it on tonight? Can’t miss it!!!

Devorgilla Wed 01-Jan-25 10:59:19

I think Cassie is hoping Ken will pop the question and she marries him, secretly of course. Then she comes in as the mistress of the house and has a claim to everything.
I keep hoping someone will see her lacing his drink. One of the children of the street would be good. Perhaps Hope, who gets a video and shot of the bottle, and then blackmails Cassie. Anything, to spice things up a bit.
Some story lines definitely need buried and some fun ones introduced.
