Just got to have yet another thread for us to grumble about our favourite soap, warts and all.

grin

Am already getting fed up with the ‘will they/won’t they’ of Carla and Lisa’s relationship, before it’s even really got off the ground.

Mardy little Betsy will be a real clashing point.

BlueBelle Thu 28-Nov-24 07:05:35

Sorry Charliegirl that was a tongue in cheek joke obviously didn’t work !

Calendargirl Thu 28-Nov-24 07:03:50

She’ll be back at work in the factory next episode, with just a discreet bandage around her head.

My own personal opinion, but I think David is correct in his opinion on his family bringing up baby Frankie if Lauren gets ‘sent down’.

Max, who can hardly look after himself, and no visible means of supporting himself, let alone a new baby, declares he loves Frankie, although he’s not the real father, and will be happy to do everything to bring him up.

hmm yes, well…

It will mostly be left to Shona and David, once the novelty has worn off.

How come Carla seems totally fine the day after her brain op? Did she not have to have any hair shaved? Surely they’d restrict visitors after such major surgery.

They all seem to have cars as is usual these days, but I often wonder where do they keep them?

She is a very pretty girl. Her and Adam? Matter of time!

Calendargirl Wed 27-Nov-24 20:58:26

Alya is looking very pretty.

Calendargirl Wed 27-Nov-24 20:31:03

Plus no one ever washes their hands. 👐

Whose car is Chesney driving?

Is it Bernie’s?

Neither of them have two ha’pence to rub together, but suddenly Ches is bombing about in this car….

I have often wondered about Roy's cardigan as well 2oaktrees
In real life that cafe wold be closed down for health and hygiene rules.
Serving food in that dirty greasy cardigan and the equally filthy apron yuk!
Also I remember Nina handling food in her black lace Goth gloves, which she never seemed to take off.

Charleygirl5 Wed 27-Nov-24 19:15:10

BlueBelle Cassie has zilch to do with him in real life. I could be wrong but I thought it was around £200K.

BlueBelle Wed 27-Nov-24 19:11:08

It’s cos he’s given it all to Cassie Charleygirl

Charleygirl5 Wed 27-Nov-24 19:00:10

I agree re Eileen, I have to think twice each time I see her as she has lost so much weight.

I thought that Ken was salaried but I could be wrong. Apparently, in real life, he is in debt up to his eyeballs.

Aveline Wed 27-Nov-24 18:50:20

Quite a few of them must be using appearance money to supplement their pensions! eg Ken, Rita, Audrey and even Gail.
Eileen was almost unrecognisable last time she appeared. It took me a minute to work out who she was.

I feel very sorry for them because few are now salaried. Most are paid per appearance.

I do wonder how some cast members survive - Brian appeared after many weeks of absence, so how has he paid his bills? I have mentioned this before, but I heard Beverley Callard (Liz McDonald) some years ago saying that her income had halved now that she was paid by appearance, instead of having an annual salary.

Aveline Wed 27-Nov-24 14:53:02

The whole cafe looks none too hygienic. The shelf near the window looks especially bad with dirty looking wallpaper curling up.
Och well it'll be good for all their immune systems.
Nice that the Rovers is now somehow more profitable than it was. Same clientele and staffing levels.

2oaktrees Wed 27-Nov-24 13:48:06

When does Roy get to wash his cardigan? He never wears anything else. I wouldn't any food from him

Certain characters disappear for ages - Brian had a brief scene a few days ago, and he just seems to appear very infrequently.

BlueBelle Tue 26-Nov-24 06:55:00

Is Gail still alive ??? 🤣
I think Betsy is playing a good part of a little angst ridden teen
I know he’s a good little actor but Sam’s breathy whispered lines kind of annoy me

vegansrock Tue 26-Nov-24 05:01:53

What’s happened to Nina?

Calendargirl Sun 24-Nov-24 18:06:59

Have they actually completed on Gail’s house though?

Many a slip and all that.

Is Carla selling her flat?

Bobby doesn’t seem to be loafing around there so much nowadays.

Aveline Sun 24-Nov-24 16:48:46

I thought it had been quite good recently. The Joel story had me on tenterhooks. We were all wondering who'd bumped him off. Also the unexpected botched Turkish surgery was topical. BTW when is Carla taking possession of Gail's house?

I loved watching Coronation Street in the early days, 1961 I was just starting work and all of us watched it.
Never watch it now, it is rubbish.I just look on the thread on here and make comments!
As I said on that thread, it must be one of the most perfect places to live, no need o do much work, but have plenty of money to spend in cafes and pubs.

I think the audience figures reflect that: some episodes only have 3 million viewers these days and young people aren't interested. My mother stopped watching Coronation St 15 years ago as it was becoming too miserable and some of the actors were hopeless. Maybe cutting it to two half hour episodes a week and cutting out a lot of the grim storylines would make it better again/

Calendargirl Sun 24-Nov-24 07:31:11

Aveline

For all the complaints about Corrie it's interesting that we all keep watching it. I note there is no thread on EastEnders...

When I started this latest thread, I actually searched back to previous ‘Coronation Street’ (Corrie) threads.

I trawled back to 2021.

A new thread starts about every 6 months. We grumble and moan all the time about the weak storylines, the poor acting, the ‘oh it used to be so much better years ago’.

But we (well, the die hards anyhow) keep watching, keep grumbling, keep posting.

Corrie, we love you really!
