Has anyone watched Joy on Netflix?
It's a dramatisation of the story of the invention of IVF with a terrific cast (Bill Nighy, James Norton and Thomasin McKenzie) resulting in the first test-tube baby Louise Brown.

It's very moving, I was in tears at the end. The courage of the women who took part in the trials hoping for a baby and tragically not being successful.

I really recommend this film.

I’ve not watched it yet but it’s a tick on my watch list.

I watched it this afternoon and loved it.
It's not often that I shed a tear in a film, but the joy when Louise was born was marvellous. This is a lovely film with a brilliant cast.

Thanks Sparklefizz, for the heads up on this one.

What an amazing, powerful film. Bill Nighy is a wonderful actor, he has such range, and I couldn't help a bit of a chuckle that the actress who played Leslie Brown, Ella Bruccoleri, also plays Sister Frances in Call the Midwife - there's opposing roles for you!

I remember very well Louise Brown being born but had absolutely no idea of the journey leading up to it.

Fantastic, one of the best films I've seen in a long time.

Just wanted to echo the thoughts above, I also was in tears at the end. A beautiful film with great actors.

I enjoyed it. I had no idea about Jean and her involvement until watching this film.

Trying to persuade OH to get Netflix as really want to see this. First grandchild due early next year, third IVF attempt. So much to be thankful for.
