What an amazing, powerful film. Bill Nighy is a wonderful actor, he has such range, and I couldn't help a bit of a chuckle that the actress who played Leslie Brown, Ella Bruccoleri, also plays Sister Frances in Call the Midwife - there's opposing roles for you!
I remember very well Louise Brown being born but had absolutely no idea of the journey leading up to it.
Fantastic, one of the best films I've seen in a long time.
I watched it this afternoon and loved it. It's not often that I shed a tear in a film, but the joy when Louise was born was marvellous. This is a lovely film with a brilliant cast.
Has anyone watched Joy on Netflix? It's a dramatisation of the story of the invention of IVF with a terrific cast (Bill Nighy, James Norton and Thomasin McKenzie) resulting in the first test-tube baby Louise Brown.
It's very moving, I was in tears at the end. The courage of the women who took part in the trials hoping for a baby and tragically not being successful.
