Is anyone watching this? I’ve switched on now and then as like the camp chats. There is one guy in, never heard of him, however don't know most of them, who seems of very fragile mental health.

She's not on 'Im a Celebrity' promoting herself!

Commonground Tue 26-Nov-24 10:07:18

Aveline

She wouldn't even have been published anywhere or appeared on TV unless she'd been 'Wayne Rooney's' wife! His name alone gives her the oxygen of publicity. Lots of people have 10 GCEs but don't have the chances she's had due to her husband.

One could say exactly the same thing about Catherine Middleton!

Aveline Tue 26-Nov-24 09:36:17

Well she's certainly taking maximum advantage.

We have no idea what she may have achieved if she wasn't married to her husband.
Good for her for making the most of her "chances".

It is possible to not be a fan of someone without being cruel and sneering…

GrannyGravy13 Tue 26-Nov-24 09:11:56

Also I do not think Oti is huge Aveline , she is the same build as her sisters.

Aveline Tue 26-Nov-24 09:08:45

Exactly. Anniebach I have no respect for CR. I don't have to have any! Thousands of people quietly do more good for others than she does. 'Celebrities' take part in this programme to promote themselves and risk people not liking them. Their choice.

escaped Tue 26-Nov-24 09:07:31

"hanging onto her meal ticket" is more than just criticism and is unkind, as I see it Anniebach.

Anniebach Tue 26-Nov-24 09:04:09

Why is criticism sneering / unkind ? It’s what should be expected in these programmes ,

I think there's plenty of younger footballers' wives who aren't bimbos.

(We had one such teaching at our school, while her husband, after a successful career in the game, is now very high up in the football world. His wife became a teacher after raising the young children, and she is a valued member of staff in her own right, as well as attending occasional functions with her husband).

Lots of people take advantage of their "connections" to fulfil their aspirations . It's often how this world works.

And?

Why so angry?

She works with many charities. I've met her at Alder Hey when my nephew was ill. She is kind and considerate and donates time to different causes.

Also she is one of the few partners that got together before Wayne was a great footballer.

So no need to be unkind

Sorry GG13, I x posted with you. Go Colleen

Iam64 Tue 26-Nov-24 08:58:27

I don’t watch these kind of programmes but agree with the positive posts here about Colleen Rooney. I watched the Wagatha Christie documentary which showed she’s an intelligent, likeable woman. She’s been humiliated publicly by Wayne’s behaviour and seemed genuine and honest when questioned about its impact.
Her family is central to her life, that’s her family of origin and her family with Wayne.
It’s easy to sneer at her as the wife of a man who became famous for his skill with a football. I found myself respecting her for keeping her feet on the floor and making the most of opportunities.
She’s also raised money for the charity that supports children like her late sister Rosie.

escaped you beat me to it.

CR is far from hanging onto Wayne’s coattails

She has indeed got 10 GCSEs including A*’s, has written columns for various magazines, written four books, collaborated on a TV program researching the illness her sister died of.

Wayne may be a talented footballer, but I think she is the brains and powerhouse of the family.

I like her, Richard Coles, Danny and Oti.

escaped Tue 26-Nov-24 07:31:17

I wouldn't underestimate Coleen. Apparently she left school with 10 GCSEs and I think she has run her own businesses. She has an interest in the genetic illness (??) her sister died from, and as she is still young it would be nice to see her train as a nurse or teacher. But that's for her to decide!

Aveline Tue 26-Nov-24 07:05:33

What could she possibly do? She's not qualified for anything except desperately hanging on to her meal ticket aka Wayne Rooney.

When is a celebrity not a celebrity?
When their main claim to fame is being married to a rich and adulterous ex-footballer.
Outside of that, Mrs Rooney has no identity.

To some extent I agree. If you listen closely, a lot of the jungle inmates, and no doubt the general public, are actually only interested in Mrs Rooney for what she tells them about her husband.
However, I think Coleen is very much her own person and this exposure, which shows her in a positive light, might just propel her into a very worthwhile career.

mum2three Tue 26-Nov-24 06:01:23

I watched this series when it first started but am tired of it now. It's become rather monotonous.

Maura might win because she is good enough at acting, a little bit manipulative, confident and seems able to game play quite well. After all, it is a game.

I don't like the trials with rats and disgusting things. I know the screaming is awful, but also I would probably scream more.

henetha Mon 25-Nov-24 23:16:54

I like all of them and really enjoy the whole thing.
I'm ever so easy to please..😁

escaped Mon 25-Nov-24 22:53:04

I like Oti. There's no flies on her. grin 🪰 🪰

Louella12 Mon 25-Nov-24 22:29:03

I think they like doing trials. They know they'll get more airtime. Which is what they want.

I like most of them. Not keen on Dean and poor Melvin might as well not be there. He's just not getting much attention. Oti is great.

My least favourite is Jane. I'd like to see her evicted first.

Grannynannywanny Mon 25-Nov-24 22:22:45

He certainly did Smileless2012. It looked pretty hair raising but he just got on with it tonight. I hope that means he won’t be voted for the next challenge and we’ll have the chance to see someone else in action.
