Bl***y hell Wallace, here's one middle class woman of a certain age who would have enjoyed watching Masterchef at Christmas. angry

It seems that now the BBC have had their knuckles wrapped by the government, they've knee jerked and probably made him even more infamous.

What annoys me is what happened to British Justice of 'Innocent till proven guilty!' Im not saying he's innocent but what has he been charged with in law? Are the police involved or is it just BBC investigating and trial by media?

Gracefulgrey Wed 04-Dec-24 16:44:27

Investigations need to be completed. Not just in bbc but all channels. However some bad doesn't mean all who work for the channel are. There are some talented innocents in these companies too

Am I the only one who never watches Masterchef? It's been going on and off since the {70s?}, starting with Loyd Grossman. It seems that it's on all year round in different formats. And I never watch greg wallace, his manic, wild eyed grin has always made him seem really creepy.

Wrong decision. I was looking forward to the Christmas special. Can I have a refund on my TV licence BBC?

Quite right too. The man is a dinosaur and should mend his ways in '24. Men behaved like that when I worked for the Beeb in 1960. Surely we have moved on?

Under normal circumstances it takes several weeks after filming to edit for a programme. There's not really enough time left now.

I cannot see why GW is not just edited out 🤷‍♀️

I have no knowledge of tv production, but to edit out a person who features heavily in a show might be quite complicated without messing with the smooth running of the production - I might be wrong?

Probably.
It would be a much shorter programme

It could be done.

I think the right decisions have been made to continue broadcasting the present series for the sake of the contestants but pull the two Celebrity Christmas specials.

This 100%.

They are going to show the final LovesBach. It’s the Christmas shows that have been pulled.

Right - thank you.

Lomo123 Tue 03-Dec-24 17:14:04

Correct decision I think.

It would be better to look at the culture of the organisation rather than focusing on one man and then dramatically pulling programmes.

What, and leave him in place whilst the culture of the organisation is examined, seriously? It’s not an either/or situation.

I took it as meaning both, maybe not?

buffyfly9 Tue 03-Dec-24 17:01:37

It's right that they are pulling the two Celebrity Masterchef episodes at Xmas. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't; the BBC need to really look at themselves and ask why the various sexual scandals are happening under their watch. Personally I am sick to the back teeth of "celebrity" anything; I don't need some faded nonentity to show me where to go on holiday, how to dance or how to cook.

Agree but both ITV (Philip Schofield mess) and the BBC need to have a good look at themselves.

I agree I never want to see that grinning fool again.

You're probably right Escaped.

Amazing the furore an ex barrow-boy, cheepy chappy cockney fella, just a bit of banter, "I've only ever had 13 complaints made against me" can cause.

LovesBach Tue 03-Dec-24 15:27:35

I noticed it was on yesterday evening; a difficult decision as there will be much disappointment for contestants, and those looking forward to seeing the final, but with such a situation brewing they had little choice.

AGAA4 Tue 03-Dec-24 15:27:27

I don't think the BBC had much choice but it's a shame that his behaviour has impacted on all those others taking part in the Christmas programme.
