New mini series of The Split is on iPlayer now.
Love Steven Mangan smile

Just finished it.
Irritating hokum (mostly). 😁

I thought, for a 54 year old, Hannah looked quite frumpy. 54 is young.

Yes. I loved her clothes in the previous 2 series but this time, definitely not. Maybe she has a different stylist?

Well, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I watched it, lazing on the sofa by myself and wearing my nightie and cuddly old dressing gown. Thank goodness I don't have to dress up in the evenings now.

Sounds good to me Dottydots! But you didn't mention any snacks!😊👍❤

Loved it, although somewhat confusing. Having to choose between Steven Mangan and Toby Stephens; what a prospect!

Toby Stevens would win everyday over Mr Mangan.
I find his character in the series both pompous & pleased with himself! He's a very Cambridge footlights sort of type too.
Toby however, has a bit of swagger & a twinkle in his eye, which has the potential for all sorts of delightful shenanigans! 🤔

I’ve been watching this and will see it through to the end although it is a bit far fetched. As for Nicola Walker, I’ve been re-watching Last Tango in Halifax recently and she was a much better actress in that than she is in anything I’ve seen her in since.

I watched the first part but couldn’t be bother with Part 2. Nothing I have read has convinced me to watch it in iPlayer.

I note Stephen Mangan had obviously dyed his hair for the part

Oh no shock I've gone off him now!

I know how old she is. She's not and never has been a glamour puss. I am a woman. I have eyesight and am entitled to my opinion. I note Stephen Mangan had obviously dyed his hair for the part. Is that OK with you?

I enjoyed it. I love Stephen Mangan. Even when he's sad he's still funny. I wasn't impressed by the clothes Hannah was wearing. She's not wearing particularly well herself somehow.

Give her a break, she is 54years old after all.
Why are women judged more harshly than men when they age?

I’m not sure why so many men are falling over themselves for the Hannah character, I was hoping the Dutch guy ( Christie?) was going to show up.

I agree. I've never understood it.... and I think she was very rude and treated Archie badly by walking out of the bar and ghosting him. I wouldn't give someone another chance if they did that to me.

Stephen Mangan’s character is in a very sad state, isn’t he? That’s the storyline for the next series possibly. Plenty of mileage in keeping us guessing - will they get back together (after a couple more series and a few more affairs)?

Allira Tue 31-Dec-24 10:54:38

🤔

Stephen Mangan would be y preference.
I'm not keen on men who are too smooth.

Dinahmo Tue 31-Dec-24 10:53:12

But Toby Stephens is in it. A bit pudgier than Jane Eyre (2006) but - what's not to like about him? I haven't seen it yet.

Well, I wouldn't trust Archie as far as I could throw him.
A man who agrees to bring his client's mistress to the client's son's wedding under the pretence she is his fiancée?
On your bike!

I think you missed the fact that she turned up uninvited. Archie agreed to pretend they were together in order to save his friend Alvaro from embarrassment.

I loved the whole thing ☺️

Probably as I had no clue who anyone was!
At first I thought the two other women were Hannah's two older daughters, the older woman was just another guest and I had to read a synopsis to find out who was who. I'm still not sure about some of them.

Farzanah Tue 31-Dec-24 10:29:54

I liked the previous series and enjoyed this as a “just for Christmas” romp, and a catch up with the characters. It was unbelievable but a bit of light fun. Nicola Walker’s acting has worn rather thin now with her long pauses and facial expressions. It’s how she plays every part, not just in this one.

The actors seem to have lost weight or is it just that they’ve aged, or is it just me 🤔

Maggiemaybe Tue 31-Dec-24 10:27:07

We’d never seen The Split, but decided to try this. We enjoyed the first episode, but yes, the second was disappointing. Schmaltzy Mamma Mia territory indeed (and I hated that)!

It looks as if people would recommend the first series at least though, so we’ll give it a go.

BigBertha1 Tue 31-Dec-24 09:49:29

Mixed reviews from me I'm afraid. I liked the first series enormously, not so much the second and this one put me to sleep in the first five minutes. I will try the second one this afternoon. Nicola Walker is a fantastic actress but I would prefer fewer of the facial gyrations.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 31-Dec-24 09:23:09

I watched both having not watched any of the previous series (no idea why I didn’t watch them as I like Nicola Walker and Stephen Mangan)

Easy viewing and thoroughly enjoyable.

I shall now go back to the beginning and watch them all!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 31-Dec-24 08:52:09

I shall still watch the second episode later today! 😁

BlueBelle Tue 31-Dec-24 07:23:10

Sorry nothing to it I was quite excited when I realised it was on as I liked the last series but it really was a bit of a damp squib wasn’t it ?
I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it either which is really worse than hating something it was bland and I agree Eazybee that last beach scene was a bit like sickly marsh mallows
