Anyone watching this ?
I really enjoy this programme and I m looking forward to this new series
Did it come up to your expectations last night, a little twist at the beginning getting some folk off the train but will they be back??
Have they chosen the right traitors ? I am just trying to get the various names in my head I saw Linda’s reaction on Claudia’s word ‘Traitors’ and thought, ‘ah ha’ but didn’t realise it had been seen by any of the others (but it had)

Watching the US version. The so called celebrity contestants are just so unlikeable and so OTT. But very watchable all the same. So funny, the traitors arguing among themselves. And Alan Cummings who is the presenter is just hilarious. Must give the NZ version a go.

spadix, do you mean a glottal "T"?

Hipsy Sun 09-Feb-25 21:12:42

Yes, enjoying it.
Although bemused by Carolyn's gurning !

Cressida Sun 09-Feb-25 20:44:33

BlueBelle you might enjoy The Traitors NZ which is all on iPlayer

No don’t like US shows
What the heck is a guttural t ?

Devorgilla Sun 09-Feb-25 20:24:07

Yes, I am watching the Traitors US. Love it! So OTT compared with ours. My only gripe is I have to wait a week for the next episode. It has convinced me that cosmetic intervention to enhance your 'beauty' is very overrated.

Cressida Sun 09-Feb-25 19:03:08

Is anyone watching The Traitors US season 3?

It's so very different to the UK version. The bitchiness, the clothes, the facial expressions. Bizarre!

Episode 7 is a must watch. It was sort of Traitors meets I'm a Celeb but absolutely hilarious.

Aveline Wed 29-Jan-25 15:54:00

Good heavens. A blast from the past from spadix! Haven't heard that gripe for years 😂

spadix Wed 29-Jan-25 15:23:55

This is a personal gripe but I can't stand the current prevalent use of guttural "t"s by young ones today. Jake and Freddie are guilty of this. Clearly teachers are not guiding students towards the use of good English. I used to do a lot of job interviews, and guttural t's were a definite negative for me when assessing candidates. Slovenly and ugly to listen to.

Traitors USA on. Binge watching first 5 episodes. So OTT compared with our UK version. I have to confess to not knowing a single one of the celebs. It's on BBC3 player if you are interested.

Yes, I don't know if the seer idea was a good one or not.

I'd rather they didn't have people come back in after the others have bonded (ie the train people). I suppose the payoff is that they can't get voted out in the early days, but set against the alliances made by the others and the inevitable difficulty in being trusted that's not much comfort. It just complicates things unnecessarily.

I'd prefer to see the traitors be able to bring back a banished person, who needn't come back in the same role as they left. They would know who had voted for them, which would add an interesting dimension.

NotSpaghetti Sat 25-Jan-25 16:44:47

Fingers crossed they don't do the Seer thing again as it's probably OK if both are faithful or both traitors but it does make them into obvious targets when there's one of each.
I wish Claudia hadn't hinted so strongly that the caged people might be traitors as the assumption was that one of them was a traitor.

Doodledog I just meant I preferred the "contestants" to declare whether they were faithful or not as they left - which is pf course what earlier series did.

Yes, I got that, but the seer thing spoilt that a bit. I wonder if they know they are going to do things like that at the start, or if they add them in as they go when they think it needs spicing up a bit?

Anyone applying for the next series?
Not likely grin. I would be hopeless. I am far too trusting and easy to read. I would be an obvious traitor and a gullible faithful. I like the castle though, and those breakfasts look wonderful. The other meals less so - they seem to shovel food from bowls a lot of the time.

BlueBelle Sat 25-Jan-25 14:45:02

I agree Notspaghetti I prefer when they know all who are traitors and I also think there should be somewhere that says if they ve been a traitor from the start or only one week as in poor Freddy’s case
They are now talking about the possibility of a celebrity version I don’t think I d like that at all

After the seer episode, I found myself listening to Charlotte's lies with Frankie's ears, if that makes sense. I thought that Charlotte was playing a clever game but started to really dislike her and I was glad when she was banished. It's quite a brutal game really but I like it.

Doodledog Sat 25-Jan-25 13:45:23

I liked Alexander. I liked Jake, too, but was less keen on Leanne.

I never warmed to Frankie, and whilst Charlotte played a very good game, tI'm not keen on people who can be ruthless towards friends in that way. I know it's a game, but all the same, it puts me off them.

We can't know who is a Traitor at the end, as that's the point - if there is one they take all the money. When both Charlotte and Franke had gone, the others really didn't know if there was a Traitor left, so kept going with the banishments. Under the old rules, Charlotte, Frankie and Alexander would have had to declare their status when they left (if I remember rightly).

NotSpaghetti Sat 25-Jan-25 13:10:11

I don't like the celebrity versions.
I'm also not keen on the Australian one.

I thought this UK series was weaker than the others too. Why reuse dolls, cages etc!

Not being told about traitor/faithful at the end didn't help either... and once the two had been in the "seer" meeting they obviously had to go and Alexander was inevitable, sadly.

nanaK54 Sat 25-Jan-25 13:02:42

I will also look forward to the celeb version - I would quite like to see either David or Victoria Mitchell, Stephen Graham, Marti Pellow ('scuse me going for a bit of eye candy!), perhaps Lily Allen (think she might provide some controversy) hmmm will keep thinking...

Bercow was in one of the US series. All on iplayer.

Oh, so he was! I take back my previous comment grin. Having said that, I don't suppose he was well-known in the US.

It’s both fun and fascinating and I look forward to the next series, all human life is there, as they say.

That's what I like about it, too. There are those who look down on 'reality TV', but I find human behaviour fascinating and love programmes like this. We don't just watch the game unfold but hear from the contestants about their motives and thoughts. Reality TV can require a higher level of engagement than a documentary that tells the viewer what to think, or even a drama where the actors and directors show us what they want us to know as the story unfolds, but that's what I like about it. I don't bother with the ones that concentrate on the young and beautiful - I prefer the 'all human life' ones, and get quite invested in them.

There was a celebrity one in the US (I think). I didn't recognise the celebrities, but I think they were of the Love Island-type variety. Definitely not the Johnson/Bercow level of fame wink. I don't think the fact that the public will trust them or not matters, as there is no public vote. A celeb one will probably mean that they can have more series', as it will count as a series of its own (a bit like Big Brother running two separate versions). I shall look forward to it.
