I love watching ice skating so feel pleased that a new series of Dancing on Ice starts tomorrow, Sunday 12th. Will anyone else be watching?

I read this morning that Jane and Chris will be hanging up their skates for good shortly.

Possibly Dan’s best ice dance with Hayley Tammadon - Jai Ho.

Dan Whiston is a fantastic Creative Director if the show and was always a popular Pro skater. Good to see him in the spotlight tonight.

Thank you, I'd forgotten how to pronounce/spell his surname!

I meant Dan W., !

Dan skated smoothly. I don't know him but from his initial skating introduction with Jayne and Chris, he was better than I expected.

Good to see Dan, (he was always my favourite!) smile
Nice to see him acknowledged, Karen too.

When you saw last week’s group of Celebs they are an eclectic mix.

Molly and Colin are great together and she looks fearless. Can’t wait to see their next skate.

Steve was awful. She was brave to let him briefly lift her. I wouldn't have!! sad

Sparklefizz Sun 19-Jan-25 19:06:35

Wow Mollie! Fantastic for week 1 !

shocked to see Steve Redgrave on the show, surely he doesn't need the money. awful in my opinion

I had a phone call from my daughter just as it started tonight. I'll have to catch up with it later but how did the first celeb get on?

Michaela was great.

Years ago I regularly went to the Hit Man and Her which she presented with Pete Waterman. Good times!

I can remember that show and pass the mic.

I'm drawn to watch it - like a film with violence from behind a cushion.

I cant help thinking Michaela is going to be great every single week and then win.

I do hope there will be some competition creeping up behind her.

I agree MissA. I can't bear the headbanger and watch it through my fingers. It's not even an attractive move to look at, never mind the danger.

MissAdventure Fri 17-Jan-25 23:03:50

I always think how brave the female professionals are, letting these stars haul them around, and doing the "headbanger" with them.
Edge of the seat stuff!! 😱

I love it and it brightens up dark January nights.

MissAdventure Fri 17-Jan-25 22:54:02

I was quite surprised last season.
I thought it seemed that the routines were very tame, and everyone was giving ridiculously large scores for mediocre performances.

I was expecting a couple of stars to stand out, but then my neighbour told me it was already the semi final.

It was pretty lacklustre from what I saw, and not worthy of the hysteria.

Stephen Mulhern is not at all funny. Love watching Torvill and Dean and going to see them in Manchester in May in their final tour. You can usually tell in the first few programmes who will go far but the panel get on my nerves. They enthuse over the skaters - oh you were great, etc but I'm only giving you 5. They get rid of good ones and keep the rubbish ones in. I seriously think the voting is rigged.

Cumbrianmale56 Fri 17-Jan-25 14:16:31

The problem with Dancing On Ice is Phil Schofield had to resign and Stephen Mulhern was probably the first choice to replace him. He is poor and more suited to cheap game shows.

I could do without the corny repartee between Holly and Stephen. It's more like children's tv.

Stephen Mulhern is the worst presenter ever, in my opinion. He is smarmy, creepy and not in the least funny. I adore Dancing on Ice normally but I don’t think I’ll be able to tolerate it with him on it this year. What do people see in him? Am I missing something? He really gives me the ‘ick’ as they say these days.

I think everyone on tv these days started out in Children's tv, so they've all kept that childlike mindset - annoying !
