It's rare these are shown now, but when I was a boy, Norman Wisdom's films were often shown on the television. I used to think his mixture of slapstick, sight gags and corny jokes were hilarious and he was massively popular for decades. Always liked how he played misfits who somehow got one over authority figures and bullies. Also Norman Wisdom did his own stunts that made the films better.

I absolutely loved Norman Wisdom when I was a child. I still think that he was very talented - and had a lovely singing voice too. I actually saw him perform live in the Walthamstow Assembly Hall in about 1989 and still thought he was funny.

Lovetopaint037 I too saw NW live at the Palladium in about 1960/61. I went with my friend on a trip organised by her ballet class. After only a short coach journey from Romford, I felt really sick. When we arrived at the Palladium, I made a rush for the toilet but didn't make it, and was sick in the foyer - oh the shame!

I loved Norman Wisdom & thought that he was a fine comedic actor, yet there was, I sensed a sadness within him.
Even as a girl I could almost feel this radiating from the screen.
I really hope that he was loved wonderfully by a special someone close to him. 🤔

No never a fan either. Didn't he go to live on the Isle of Man to avoid paying tax?

I don't think this kind of humour has aged well really. But, each to his own. At least he wasn't Benny Hill!

I remember going to cinema to see The Early Burd with the family of a friend. They were all laughing away, I just couldn't see why.
