Just seen the film which was excellent. Great music and acting.

My only criticism was that at times Timothee mumbled, however perhaps that is how Bob Dylan talks.

A wonderful film with some outstanding performances, Ed Norton in particular. We thought Chalomet was remarkably accurate in capturing Dylan's idiolect and mannerisms. We saw Dylan live last November and saw rwo songs sung live that featured in the film.

I saw it yesterday. I was really disappointed as he mumbled through the whole film. Very difficult to understand him. Music was good though.

Dylan mumbled, Chalamet was so good at being Dylan

Really looking forward to seeing this, it's had rave reviews. Just a bit disappointed that they have changed the famous "Judas!" concert to Newport, when it was Manchester. I was there, will never forget it!

Every time I see the posters I think Timothée Chalamet is much better looking than Bob Dylan ever was grin

I met Pete Seeger once and can confirm that he was a wonderful man. He loved music and loved performing.

Didn’t he nurture a lot of young talent over the years, too ( unless I’m confusing him with someone else).

Pete Seeger was a force for good. That’s one of the key things from the movie for me. The sense of hope, the civil rights movement and a desire to improve things, to put something back into society

Yes Pete Seeger was always very encouraging to young musicians. That's indirectly how I happened to meet him, through a friend of a friend who was one of the young folk singers nurtured by Pete.

Thanks for all the positive reviews. I'm a huge Dylan, Joan Baez and Pete Seeger fan, however after reading many of the critics reviews I had decided to wait and watch it on the TV. Not now, after your reviews and that of a friend we've booked to see it next week.

Just been to see it here in Melbourne. One of the best films I’ve seen in a long time and what a good actor Timothée Chalamet is.

I've got my tickets for Monday eve with descriptive text!

I saw BoB Dylan in the 80s, although he has wrote some of the most powerful songs, he did mumble some of the words.
Really would love to see the film but my husband really is not that keen on him, nor are any of my friends.

I dont like Bob Dylan but dh has all his records/cds. Dh plans to go to see the subtitled film as our cinema is having one subtitled showing.

As a great Bob Dylan fan, I would love to see this film.

I used to collect all his records, 78's as they were then. His songs spoke the truth back in the 60's as they do today.

I went to see The Bob Dylan film. Enjoyed it apart from there was too much mumbling I thought it was my hearing aids but not as it turned out.

I saw the film last week and really enjoyed it. I’m not a huge Bob Dylan fan but my DH is . I agree about the mumbling though . The actress playing Joan Baez has a beautiful voice .

I shan't go and see it. Never liked Bob Dylan. Well I don't like his voice. I prefer other peoples' versions of his songs, Joan Baez for example. A whole film about him, pass.

Oh dear, having a bad day, hope it gets better🙂

Agree - if you are hard of hearing give it a skip, I went last night and did not hear a single word out of his mouth, so those three hours really dragged on just watching the pictures. If I was on my own I would have left, but went with hubby (date night) so had to endure the whole thing.

merlotgran Sun 26-Jan-25 11:59:02

I’m going to see it next month with my U3a cinema group.

Really looking forward to it.

Kalu Sun 26-Jan-25 13:30:37

I am so looking forward to seeing this film. I have seen clips and the handsome Timothée Chalomet is perfect for the part.

A true poet, I love everything he sings, writes. I have been listening to his son Jakob who is the lead singer in a band named Wallflowers, he bears a strong resemblance to his father and I can hear his father in certain vocals.

Positively Fourth Street
To Make You Feel My Love
Etc etc etc…..

First Joan Baez record I bought - Fairwell Angelina.

You got a lot of nerve, to say you are my friend 🎼

We were going to see it yesterday, but we didn't make it. I will try to get there before it closes though.

Best line ever.
Yes, I wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes. You’d know what a drag it is to see you
Priceless 😂

So many great lines to choose from.

Also two of my favourites too -they never get old.

BlueSapphire Sun 26-Jan-25 14:32:53

Went to see it yesterday, fabulous film, brought back all those 60s days.
Timothee Chalamet sublime as Dylan, and the actress playing Joan Baez has the voice of an angel.

Ziggy62 Sun 26-Jan-25 14:37:37

Totally agree

Complete unknown?????

I went through a Bob Dylan phase as a young teenager, which my mother said almost drove her to suicide! Then I discovered modern jazz, which she said didn't alleviate her despair. confused
