If there was a thread about, say, stamp collecting, I'd by-pass it. I'm not interested in it. I would have nothing meaningful or useful to contribute and I certainly wouldn't post on it telling everyone I don't do stamp collecting as if that were some sort of moral accolade for me!
Watching a soap doesn't mean I'm uncultured, stupid or unsophisticated.
However, coming into a thread about a subject in which you have no interest, merely to tell everyone you have no interest does make you look a bit stupid.
We don't care if you don't watch soaps, and we don't think you're morally superior or better than anyone who does.
So jog on.
