What series are you currently watching, or what are some of your favorites? I recently watched What If on Netflix, as well as Anatomy of a Scandal. I enjoyed both, but I love the evil character that Renee Zellweger plays on what if. I heard a second season may be in the works.

Love Rats on Netflix. It's a series of true stories of people scammed in Romance Fraud. Very interesting.

Hulu is a US streaming channel which isn't available in UK. Some of it's content is shown on Disney+ Star channel.
We don't subscribe to Disney.
I'm currently enjoying Wednesday on Netflix, about Wednesday Addams of The Addams Family. It's aimed at teenagers, but I'm a big kid. 😃

I loved West Wing. I have just finished watching, for the second time, Rizzoli and Isles on Prime. It’s based on Tess Gerritson’s detective novels and is about the chalk and cheese relationship between a Boston homicide detective and the chief medical examiner. It has tension, humour and human interest with a lot of interwoven relationships coming into play.

I am enjoying Parenthood on Netflix.

Just discovered The Good Wife on Prime.

Outstanding.

I enjoyed Strike and look forward to the next series.

A 2021 series I have been watching on 4 is Before We Die, crime thriller.
And as a slightly lighter watch I have been catching up with some of the newer version Of Hawaii Five O. From around 2010 so a little late, but it passes 45 minutes (I record and whizz through ads) nicely. Bit more humour from what I remember of the old series.

My favourite was Detectorists, one of the few I can happily re watch

We've just re-watched all 3 series of Hamish Macbeth on BBC iPlayer

It seems to be an American channel not freely available in UK. I may be wrong.

I think we may have that. We have all sorts of strange channels with our Sky.

I'm just watching Agatha Christie's Towards Zero on BBC i player, enjoying it.

I've recently watched Toxic Town, based on real events in post industrial Corby, very good, quite heartbreaking. It resonated with me, we live in a former steel town.

I watched Robert de Niro in Zero Day, Netflix. He plays the former President, asked to help the Government after a coordinated cyber attack causes thousands of deaths. Quite gripping.

And I have just found the latest season of Snowpiercer - post apocalyptic drama, where an enormous perpetual motion train, 879 carriages long, circles the frozen, inhospitable Earth carrying a mixed bag of survivors - on ITVX.

Some of my favourites over the years,
24, The West Wing, Homeland, V, Mad Men, A Place to call Home, Years and Years, Game of Thrones...

Zero Day was good. I watched it all in one sitting.

Watching rerun of The West Wing on C4...brilliant writing and a fabulous cast. That's me sorted for several weeks!

The Newsroom is by the same writer and is very good, it stars Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer and Dev Patel.

I’m not familiar with most of these things posted. Is tv thst different from in the US?

Well given that we have totally different channels-BBC/ITV/C4 etc it would be wouldn’t it?
Satellite -Netflix /Sky /Apple etc available on both sides of the pond but imagine most people are talking about terrestrial/freeview channels.

I suppose so. I figured. Thanks

It's very different indeed.
The British sense of humour is often misunderstood by people in other countries, for instance.

We have discovered Shameless from years ago on Netflix. We are really enjoying it and it’s laugh out loud moments. It passed us by at the time. We will watch the USA version after this.

grannydarkhair Sun 02-Mar-25 21:26:55

I’m binge watching an American series, This Is Us on C4. Ran from 2016-22. I’d never heard of it before, it’s excellent in parts, and what I’m enjoying most about it is all the (mostly) unknown (to me) faces that are in it.
