I'll go first šŸ˜€

I've watched Episode 1 of the Duchess of Sussex's lifestyle show on Netflix (a relaxed half hour over an early lunch) I enjoyed it! It's very beautiful in Montecito where they live, the camera loves her, she's a working wife and mother ... what's not to like?

I'll run for cover now... 😁

Anniebach does me detect an Oedipus complex in Harry? Meghan was never going to fit into the Royal Family. It’s just not her so no need to compare her with Kate. She is where she wants to be but the horrible allegations against the RF and constant moaning have turned people off plus the way she treats her dad referring to herself as a latch key kid - poor little me again. Maybe this programme will help her.

I don’t think anything will help her as there is no limit to her need for attention and the only title she wants is Queen Bee.
A silly, shallow and entitled middle aged woman who will turn into a silly, shallow and entitled old woman in time.

I don’t dislike Catherine or Meghan, nor am I a particular fan, but what I dislike is the constant nastiness directed towards one and the deification of the other.
As for the surname, it’s complicated as technically Harry doesn’t have a surname. He was Wales when at school from his father, similarly William and Catherine’s children were Cambridge at school but I guess they are now Wales? Edward’s wife was Duchess of Wessex now she’s Edinburgh. it’s a royal thing. The Sussex children have Sussex as a surname not Mountbatten - Windsor which was made up by QE2 for her descendants so they all can use when it suits them. So it’s not unreasonable for Meghan to use Sussex as a surname when her husband and children do.
As for the show it’s not my thing and I wish Meghan would use her platform for something a bit more worthy, but I guess she would be hounded for doing that too.

Harry was called Windsor at school not Wales.
His father Charles was the Prince of Wales, which is a title just as Duke of Sussex is.
And I don’t see Catherine as being deified more just as a good dutifully inclined woman who accepts all the good and the bad of being a member of the RF.She doesn’t push herself forward, lie, or try and portray herself as a victim of the establishment.
She just happens to be more attractive than Meghan which must rankle with M no end.

Using a dead woman. Megan does the same, communicated with Diana at her grave, having a framed photograph of Diana
in the birthing room when giving birth not from the media but from Harry, wearing Diana’s favourite perfume on her first
date with Harry, again from Harry.

Yes vegansrock, as I mentioned earlier, it's one rule for as you say
'St Kate' and another for the 'Interloper- upstart' Megan'.
The worst thing is that 'Some people '
believe anything & everything they read or hear without bothering to question its validity or its source.
I'm not a royalist but Harry's mother would be turning in her grave at the appalling treatment of her beloved son & his little family by certain factions of the media! šŸ˜”

You seem to have great insight into what Diana might be thinking. Are you psychic?

If so, do you know if Diana appalled at some of the remarks about Catherine made by you and other posters?

Wow! "A perfectly- honed Bullshit detector" Petra!
That sounds like a marvelous piece of equipment to own!!!!
Where could I possible buy one?
Maybe I could find one in the very narrow-minded section of my local supermarket?? šŸ¤”

You can’t buy one.
You’re either born with a perfectly working one or, like yourself, a defective one.

😁

I think you have to have a broad mind, experience and a wide understanding of human nature too.
Those who criticise people with well-developed Bullshit Detectors may be rather narrow-minded, perhaps?

Found it.
The Daily Mail says it looks delicious so it must be ok!

Highlights were ... the easy Single Skilled pasta dish (I generally love the way younger people embrace all shortcuts - she cooks the pasta in the sauce from the off); the stunning scenery; the small touches that lift an ordinary dish, the relaxed vibe ...

So is this a very thin sauce to begin with? Does she put a lid on the pan (or skillet whatever). We don't have Netflix so can't watch it.

She’s got out what she set out to achieve. All very shallow imo. I just wish she had a bit of love to spare for her father.

Anniebach Wed 05-Mar-25 20:54:08

Megan is living the life she wanted, much of it on TV, she must have hated every day as a royal, boring for her compared to the life she has now

Autocorrect wrote Doris in my first sentence above! Doria is a much nicer name smile

The show would have had and will have high viewing figures,
some will be interested , some because they are fans, some for
amusement.

Of course. It won't matter to Netflix why people watch it, as long as they do.

I agree with Merlotgran that Doris is cool šŸ˜Ž. I doubt Meghan wouldn't like her mother in the limelight, she seems to be very proud of her. If anything, I doubt Doria would want the attention. smile

Netflix are missing a trick. They should give Doria her own show on fitness and fashion for the over fifties.

She is so stylish and her five second appearance at the end was a scene stealer.

Meghan wouldn’t like that.

I haven't got round to looking for it yet, but I liked one reviewer who said it's a show for people who need a recipe to make ice cubes.

Personally I've always enjoyed The Pioneer Woman. I know she's the wife of a rich rancher and she makes a lot of money out of her books and merchandise, but she's fun. I've learnt a lot about American cooking from her and her recipes are far more about feeding a busy family and far less about scattering fresh flowers.

What a nasty comment!!
I thought it was very refreshing to watch a cooking programme that was a bit different from most of the usual stuff.

Either you know something other's don't know or your just re-hashing the lurid Chinese whispers & tabloid tattle doing the rounds!

Boring having to repeat this but there is no need for tittle tattle. The tittle tattle is available for all to see/hear/read, straight from the horse's mouth.

Oprah interview. Harry's book, Spare.

All their own words.

Retread Wed 05-Mar-25 19:58:32

I just looked up out of interest - the show is in the top 10 "most watched" in 47 countries.

Iam64 Wed 05-Mar-25 19:54:21

Ilovedogs, so do I
It’s good to see your comments

🤣🤣🤣 not her house and what planet is she living on? Getting herself set up for when she splitsfrom Harry!

Meow! Very catty!

I'm still flabbergasted at all the venom being directed at Megan!

Let Harry & his little family be free from all this negativity.
Do you think Princess Di would have found this terrible, mean baiting acceptable??? šŸ¤”

I watched most of episode 1. It wasn't offensive.

I may finish the episode tomorrow, might watch more at some point.
