I'll go first 😀

I've watched Episode 1 of the Duchess of Sussex's lifestyle show on Netflix (a relaxed half hour over an early lunch) I enjoyed it! It's very beautiful in Montecito where they live, the camera loves her, she's a working wife and mother ... what's not to like?

I'll run for cover now... 😁

Rula

But her hair is problematic.

Why is her hair problematic Rula??
She's cooking at home not in a professional kitchen.
Do we put our hair -up just to cook dinner for our family?
Does the awful Mr Ramsey wear a chef's hair?
Does the hugely pretentious Nigella Lawson don a hair bobble?
No they don't.
I wish people would stop picking on Harry & Megan, it's downright mean & mostly media -led.
I think you are just splitting hairs. ( Excuse the punny!) 🤔

Were the dogs roaming in the kitchen too?
Mine do! 🙈

I'm always barefoot in the kitchen.

I just saw a snippet online. Why isn’t her hair tied back, was my only thought.

Her hair is tied back sometimes. Anyway she’s doing home cooking, I don’t tie my hair back either in my kitchen. And she’s barefoot some of the time 😛

Good to see my hopeless typing made you laugh Merlotgran - made me smile as well when I saw it later

I think Meghan is right for it not to be filmed in her own house. That would be completely contrary to her desire for "privacy". 😆
However, I'm having trouble deciding whether it's the food she wants viewers to voraciously consume, or Meghan herself?
Yes, the scenery is beautiful.

I’ve just watched the first episode. The only bit that interested me was the amazing view at the end.

No wonder she didn’t want to live in Windsor under the Heathrow flight path. 😂😂

No contest! grin

Tomato sauce? Does the pasta come out all red? Aren’t the other veggies a bit overcooked?

Sorry about going on about this.

I just can’t imagine it

She added the veggies in stages, so no overcooking. Tomatoes towards the end. Pasta wasn’t red! I’m going to try it, will report back.

I gave it a go. It's pretty. And in my opinion, terribly boring. But to be fair I loathe all cookery programmes apart from Bake Off. And I loved to watch the Galloping Gourmet with my much loved grandma.

I only managed 15 minutes, I was bored. But it's not going to interest everyone.

I hope she manages to get a few good reviews.

I gave it 10 mins out of curiosity.
Couldn’t stand the breathless giggly voice any longer.
Even The Guadian slated it and they have always championed her.

I’ve just watched episode 1, and won’t rush to watch any more. I can’t see it being a great success, as the ‘cooking’ ( one cake and a pan of pasta) was hardly memorable. It may fare better with an American audience, but looking at her ‘friends’ who will be appearing in future, and the fact that it’s not filmed in her own house, wouldn’t make for big viewing figures.

Nope, dry pasta! Apparently the starch from the pasta thickens the runny sauce. I do add a ladle of pasta water to my pasta sauces, so I guess that's the same principle.

Lathyrus3 Tue 04-Mar-25 13:33:10

Fresh pasta presumably?

Just thinking about how runny the sauce would have to be if it was dried.

You can see I’m more of a Conran girl😬 (Lifes too short to stuff a mushroom)

No, Iam uses this thread to snipe at posters who have criticised on other threads

Retread Tue 04-Mar-25 13:29:39

The thread is about a lifestyle programme on Netflix 😌

merlotgran Tue 04-Mar-25 13:27:49

A thread about these two nit(s)?

Sorry, Iam but that made me laugh.

I’ll give it a go later this afternoon.

Anniebach Tue 04-Mar-25 13:25:49

Put downs ? Put down anyone who criticises them !
