Corrie continuation!

I agree with you all, but there are often posts on here about what is shown before the watershed, and Corrie goes out at 8.00, so you can't please everyone.

Personally, I used my own discretion when my children were young, and didn't pay attention to censors who didn't know them. If I thought they'd be upset by something I didn't let them watch it, and if (given that I knew their sensibilities) I felt that they'd be fine, I would leave it on. I didn't use TV as a 'babysitter' though, so I was there to judge whether I felt it was upsetting or not.

I usually just faint or blackout if there's any bad language, violence or, God forbid, sex scenes. I'm a very delicate flower

I agree about the warnings.

We don’t need to be told there is going to be violence, swearing, sex scenes etc all the time.

If anyone finds it upsetting, switch it off.

I don’t mind warnings, but I wish they weren’t so specific (eg ‘X has thoughts of suicide’, or ‘there are scenes of knife crime’) as they can give away the plot before we’ve seen the episode. A general ‘scenes that some viewers may find upsetting’ should be enough.

I don’t know why they have this idiotic warning at all! Do they think we can’t cope with any sort of sex, violence and so on.
Please note, we have brains. We know what we like. We are quite capable of switching off if something disgusts or upsets us too much.

I like Glenda. Even her silly flirting with men - she's just looking for love .

Digressing, but just seen a picture of Kit at the British Soap Awards, wearing an ill fitting cream suit and on a crutch.

I know most people didn’t like her but where has Cassie disappeared to. I haven’t seen her in hospital or locked up.
If Glenda owns the house Brian gave her she could sell it and buy the Rovers.

Goodness knows. There is never more than a couple of people in there these days. In the old days everyone was there every night and every lunchtime, and there wasn't even a dedicated liver ward to nurse them all .

The Bistro, the hotel and the Indian restaurant do the job of letting different characters meet up to move the plots along, but again, never seem to have more than a handful of customers. I don't know how any of them stay afloat.

I wish Glenda would take a one-way ticket somewhere, as she is an interfering busybody.

Looks like Eileen will be jetting off to Thailand with Ryan in the next few days. Along with Julie’s insurance payout, which will come in handy for buying the bar.

No doubt any necessary visas, travel jabs, will be sorted in the blink of an eye, as Gail always seemed able to hop over to Thailand overnight, whenever it suited.

Poor Kevin really doesn’t look well. I hope it’s just his good acting, and not ailing in real life.

Abi is heading for trouble, flirting with Carl one minute, then mouthing off at him the next.

The Soap Awards sent a clear message to the Corrie scriptwriters.
Except for David Neilson (Roy) winning an award and Emmerdale winning 1 and Hollyoaks 2, all the other awards including best soap went to Eastenders.
Corrie is the only soap I watch but it is way off the mark to what it used to be. Unrealistic storylines (except Paul's MND) and far too much violence. I am not surprised it didn't win anything.

dogsmother I am in that situation too - I watched the first episode with my mother, and keep watching as occasionally there is a spark of the old enjoyment, but for so long the scripts have been dire and the actors must cringe. At the wake, Tracey's behaviour was absolutely outrageous even for her, and tipped into the unbelievable; even the most crass of people surely wouldn't have spoken as she did, and particularly one who had beaten a man to death with an ornament. The field was wide open for Eileen - or anyone - to remind her of that!

I realise that I actually missed an episode last week. I'd recorded the Friday one but forgot and just started watching from Monday. I found that I'd missed remarkably little. Hmmmm. What does that say?!

I think he is just concerned that Julie's life may have ended before it was necessary and that Eileen could have a motive for seeing her off.

Who does Brian think he is questioning Eileen about Julie’s life insurance policy? Does he think he should get the money?

Re Theo’s conversion therapy. I assumed he had that years ago when he thought as a young man he was gay. After that, when he was ‘cured’, he went on to marry and have children, but of course basically he was still gay.

Maybe I’ve got that wrong though?

Friday night was dire, and I have no idea why I wasted time watching it.

All Theo does is spend money, especially in the pub but he is not alone.

Glad I wasnt the only miserable one who didn’t enjoy any of it last night I m disliking such a lot of the characters now I think it’s just familiarity (plus nothing else on) that keeps me watching
I m like you Harrigran don’t like many of the characters any more ( couldn’t stand silly Julie and even sillier Brian) don’t like Mary or Glenda or Gemma or Todd’s bit on the side or Debbie’s brother who’s name I can’t even be bother to remember

I am exactly the same.Cannot stand most of the characters now, it is hard to think of the ones I do like.

Is Eileen leaving? I didn't know.

I didn't see her in the jungle, but her character has changed a lot since she lost weight. I always thought she was a believable character - flawed but basically kindly and devoted to her sons. Now she is quite unpleasant, and if she does leave I won't miss her.

I'm not a fan of Theo. His acting is dreadful, and the character is unbelievable. People finding out they are gay in later life is realistic, but his 'journey' is not. How has he fitted in conversion therapy if he's just discovered his sexuality? I think that's rare for gay people these days anyway. It's more about trans issues, unless I'm mistaken, (which is perfectly possible ). It would be hard to source, and expensive, so as a jobbing builder with a family he'd be unlikely to be able to afford it if he kept the costs hidden from his wife.

Goodness knows what's going on with Billy. I guess he'll be vulnerable after losing Paul, but he's not daft. Also, did he get over his addiction to painkillers?

Wonder what will happen to Eileen's house? Will he and Mary and Todd continue to stay there? Odd household.
