I watched last night and was glad I didn’t know if Daniel was going or not. There’s no point in watching if you know what’s going to happen. I enjoy a good detective story, but have never seen The Mousetrap, as some idiotic journalist let slip that the murderer was who they are (ie that it was the vicar/butler/taxi driver). I now have no need to go, as the whole point is to enjoy the plot and guess as you go. This is the same, to me. It’s a shame, as The Mousetrap would be right up my street, but of course I’d read the offending information before I realised that’s what it was, and once you know, there’s no going back.

Anyway- I’m team Aveline when it comes to Betsy. Teenagers can be annoying, frustrating and generally exasperating, but it’s hormones, and they usually grow out of it, and the Betsy actress gets that just right. Plus, she hasn’t had an easy time in her short life - most would go off the rails a bit in the circumstances.

I’m concerned about poor Liam. That horrible new chap (forgotten his name) looks like he might be trying to recruit him into a County Lines scenario. I really hope not. I hate watching storylines where children suffer, and the whole County Lines thing is so awful, and ruins lives before they get going.

Obviously I don’t know if that’s how this is going (and don’t want to ) but the signs were there last night. Gary’s faster with his fists than his brain, but I hope he wises up soon and rescues the poor lad.

Is it the case that the ending of 'The Mousetrap' is changed from time to time? I recall being told many years ago that Agatha Christie wrote several different endings, but I'm not sure if that is true.

It’s the prison/young offenders unit, the hospital, oh and the police station enquiry desk and interview rooms.

True, but they need to have somewhere for the characters to meet, so their stories can overlap. That was always the shop and the pub, but not so much now. The YO place and the hospital can only feature a few people at a time. People used to moan (some people always do ) as people like Emily Bishop were always in the Rovers with a sherry, but it did mean that people whose lives wouldn't usually intersect were able to pass on gossip and move the plots along.

I agree about Liam and Jack.

I suppose Liam is meant to be a quiet, reserved character, but Jack is just hopeless.

They must have loads of better young actors to choose from.

Summer never seems to be in now, expect she’s busy at uni, hobnobbing with Evelyn.

Back to the Mousetrap I went to see it a few years back and hated every minute of it nearly fell asleep I was so bored

I do prefer Betsy s (normal) teenagers angst to Liam the limp biscuit without an ounce of character there’s no omph to him at all it’s like comparing Bertie to Dorian

I don't think the landlord/lady of the RR is as big a role as it was though. They only have a couple of people in there at a time because of the new contracts, and it's not the centre of the community any more. The contrast with the Classic episodes when everyone was in there every night -and every lunchtime too, knocking back pints before going back to sew knickers in the factory - is marked. Now they spread it between the pub, the Bistro and Speed Dahl so they don't have to film them all together.

I agree that it's not as good as it used to be, but I do think the writers are up against it.

I thought Daisy's exit was great. Still sad about Debbie, what a fabulous character she is. Her and Ronnie running the Rovers would have been brilliant. She could have been as iconic as Annie Walker or Bet Lynch

Yes, I thought last night's episode was good.

I don't know why people watch if they hate all the characters . I like to have one or two to be annoying, as otherwise there would be no conflict in the plots, but on the whole if I disliked them all I'd switch off.

I enjoyed Daisy's exit - am I the only one? She's lovely to look at and added a bit of catty spark to the Street. I'm sorry she's left and hope the actress finds other good roles in the future.

I found Dee Dee really annoying last night, swanning in, offering to help with baby Leila when it suited. (The baby looks quite big for her age).

I thought ‘Good for you, Ronnie’ speaking up and saying what he thought about it all, everyone expected to step up, but step back when it suits her.

I don't understand why Rita doesn't just give the money to Jenny to buy the pub. She's supposed to be loaded isn't she?
Och I suppose it's time for a new landlord/landlady with associated new storylines.

Why has Ryan got his left arm bandaged? Is it still because of the acid attack?

My sympathies lie much more with Ryan than Betsy with her daft sling, yes, no longer needed last night.

Perhaps she donated it to Ryan?

The screen writers should be the ones to leave. Surely there must be some talent out there who can do a better job. Where did the previous ones go? I suppose we will now see Gary and Maria in agony over Liam again as that awful bloke gets his hooks into him. Doodledog we went to see the Mousetrap a few years ago and I told my dh who the murderer was at half time. It’s simple once you know the formula of the old fashioned detective stories.

I noticed Betsy had taken her left arm out of the sling and was drinking a cup of something normally. On reflection I did not see the sling at all.

Daisy was taking so long to leave, I wondered if she would change her mind.

I think Betsy is great the fact you can’t stand her Calendargirl means she’s playing the part beautifully, as was Daisy I ll miss her pretty face (I believe she’s going over to the Archers) Bertie is not exactly a natural, whereas Dorian oozes personality he definitely will be the life and soul of the party when he’s older

I found drippy Daniel’s last minute dash to stop her departure quite funny actually, think he was trying not to laugh in between his hysterical tears.

As for Bertie loving her so much! The poor little chap just looked bemused the whole time he spent with her, not a hint of a smile, just rather fearful all the time.

Little Dorin would have played the part of the adoring ‘stepchild’ so much better.

I think the actress who plays Betsy plays her perfectly. Just exactly a stroppy irritating teenager. Seems like it's the character you don't like crossstitchfan not the acting?

Unfortunately, I took an instant dislike to the actress the minute she did her first whine! It’s rare for me to do that, but she brings out the worst in me.
I really need to get a life!

I hope Daisy doesn't leave on a whimper.
It would be so out of character if that happens. Surely the scriptwriters, as bad as they have been lately, will get Daisy departing the cobbles with a twist in the tale. She was very astute getting Steven's bank account details to find Underworld's stolen money so has she managed to hack into Dom's? Will she be disappearing over the horizon with £60k?

The actress who plays Daisy was on This Morning today. What a beautiful young woman she is. She said she is joining The Archers.

Won’t matter what she looks like on the Archers.
