Thought I’d start a new thread as the other one is full. Nothing to say really at the moment because I said it at the end of the last thread. Hopefully we can carry on with our Corrie moans!

love0c Fri 04-Apr-25 08:10:48

It was last night. No indication at all of her colour being a factor!

Clawdy Fri 04-Apr-25 08:03:06

I don't think it's untrue, there are many cases of black women being treated differently in childbirth. Hopefully that is changing.

love0c Fri 04-Apr-25 07:56:47

So cross the colour of DeeDee was given as the reason she was neglected. So untrue!!

Calendargirl Fri 04-Apr-25 07:05:33

And poor Kevin.

With a gormless son like Jack, a stroppy wife in Abi, dealing with his cancer and chemo, no wonder he looks a broken man.

Calendargirl Fri 04-Apr-25 07:03:59

So we are going to see yet another court case, this time involving negligence and colour.

Dee Dee’s care was not good, I assume to highlight the difficulties of understaffing, but if a colour issue is raised I don’t think that is right really.

I have no desire to watch the episode again, but apart from one unfortunate remark, I didn’t see anything that highlighted Dee Dee’s ethnicity.

Perhaps I missed it.

Abi came across as very childish.

Yes, understandably worried about where Kevin was, but she was very abrupt with Julie, and obviously put out when Kevin found common ground with her about cancer.

Abi is all me, me, me. She forgets all that Kevin has had to deal with, all her drug taking and dramas.

sodapop Thu 03-Apr-25 15:21:33

I thought the same thing Aveline well scripted and acted.

Aveline Thu 03-Apr-25 14:02:35

Kevin and Julie's conversation in the cafe was a great example of Corrie at its best. An interesting way of looking at cancer from the perspective of two nice people.

Grannycool52 Thu 03-Apr-25 12:39:38

I agree with the above comments on Kevin, but I did think his acting stepped up a notch when he was talking / listening to Julie about her cancer.
On the other hand it seemed that Abi was playing a stroppy teenager in her response to finding them together, even if she was worried about him.
I am aware that former addicts can be very immature, because taking excessive drugs and alcohol when younger can prevent their going through normal emotional growth. The character of Cassie, much as I dislike her, does demonstrate this reasonably well, but I have always felt the Abi character lacks any emotional depth.

Please do not forget Corrie is on tonight at 9 p.m., so I assume football has taken precedence over Corrie tomorrow evening.

I wish that long-faced Lauren would get on my bus and stay there.

Kevin does look awful.

harrigran Thu 03-Apr-25 08:46:46

The actor is just sixty, must admit he looks a lot older.

Grannynannywanny Thu 03-Apr-25 08:36:32

I don’t think the wardrobe dept do Kevin any favours. He seems to be either in his work overalls or that old brown fleece he was wearing last night. He wears it outdoors and at home. Even the night Abi prepared the romantic dinner a few weeks back Kevin sat at the table wearing his trusty brown fleece. He looks permanently scruffy.

Aveline Thu 03-Apr-25 08:33:26

Yes. The change in Kevin is shocking. How old is he in real life?

Clawdy Thu 03-Apr-25 08:27:40

Yes, she certainly did.

Calendargirl Thu 03-Apr-25 07:38:13

I thought last night Abi looked more like his daughter than his wife.

BlueBelle Thu 03-Apr-25 07:23:35

Veganstock the other week I said just that I know he will be made up for the part but I did think he’d shrunk he looks so thin and as if he’s aged apart from any make up I did wonder if he wasn’t well in real life

vegansrock Thu 03-Apr-25 06:27:35

Now there’s some drama with James’ partner…seems more likely the baby will stay in Weatherfield.
Has Kevin aged dramatically? He seems far more wrinkly these days.

Grannycool52 Tue 01-Apr-25 12:50:42

Given the current situation in the USA, James and his partner should stay in the UK and help Deedee with childcare.

Grannynannywanny

I agree Clawdy. That’s exactly what I thought when he was cooing over the baby and telling her all the fun they were going to have in America.

All I could think was that he'd be barmy to go to America now, as a black gay man. I assume the storyline was devised before the election, but has been overtaken by events.

The behaviour of the various medics was so awful, I expect there to be a lawsuit if DeeDee doesn't get better.

Calendargirl Tue 01-Apr-25 12:41:23

I hope Dee Dee doesn’t keep the baby, let her go off to a new life in America (the baby).

Corrie has more than enough little children cluttering up the storylines…

The quads, Glory, Alfie, Harry, Frankie, ….who have I missed?

They are given birth to, amidst dramatic story lines, then disappear.

Only to reappear years later as stroppy teenagers.

Regarding Aggie, has anyone heard what happened to Laura Laidlaw and how & where she is?
Thanks.

Well, her acting was poor in Corrie, so don’t imagine she is turning down dozens of offers.

My guess is that Dee Dee will have had a hysterectomy to stop the post-partum haemorrhage. Her new daughter will be her only chance to be a Mum and Dee Dee will keep her.
I worked on a Delivery Suite for 17 years and Corrie showed the often manic days when there are never enough beds, midwives or doctors. However, the midwife who sent Dee Dee home saying it was only Braxton-Hicks made no attempt to investigate pre-eclampsia which would be uppermost in most midwives minds. I got annoyed with her.

Grannynannywanny Tue 01-Apr-25 08:38:41

Clawdy Tue 01-Apr-25 08:34:35

I'm guessing Deedee will keep that baby, and James will go back to America heartbroken.
