Thought I’d start a new thread as the other one is full. Nothing to say really at the moment because I said it at the end of the last thread. Hopefully we can carry on with our Corrie moans!

I think Dr. Gaddass works on her own. My surgery has around 6 GPs and I am lucky to get a telephone appointment to have a rash inspected over the phone. In Weatherfield, I would have a home visit within hours.

I had forgotten I would have a room to myself if admitted so no need to listen to the screams and snores of others.

I think your husband is making a mistake Aveline. I should seriously consider it now that I no longer drive. Houses would be cheaper, I live in London so I would never need to cook again.

Aveline Sun 27-Jul-25 13:09:53

I know. If only he wore such awful clothes and spoke in such a strange way. I've tried to make him but he just won't. He won't even move to Weatherfield despite it's excellent NHS and Police service.

Aveline does that mean your present husband may be on the market shortly? The poor man must feel devastated, playing second fiddle to Dev.

I hadn't considered that, Charleygirl - poor man!

They are a very mismatched couple. I remember Sunita and she was lovely. So sad what happened to her but they have to create dramas. Maybe that's the thinking behind this latest potential wife for him. (Naturally, I'd be ideal but I'd shut the shop and we'd swan off into the sunset)

Calendargirl Sun 27-Jul-25 11:22:58

I will say, yet again, and would write it in capitals if it didn’t come across as shouting…..

Dev would never fancy Bernie in a million years, not if they were the last two left on this earth

Aveline, you would be in there before Bernie, I guarantee.

My glasses are firmly in place. Cor he's gorgeous! I also have a sense of humour and enjoy a wind up. No connection...

Charleygirl5 Sat 26-Jul-25 21:27:42

Sorry Aveline, I can't stand him. Are you sure you are not wearing your rose-tinted glasses? Most of us find him irritating, and he never was an actor.

BlueBelle Sat 26-Jul-25 20:21:36

Oh I do think Devs good looking just incredibly annoying he’s 60 and has three children I wonder if he’s as puppet on a string at home as he is on the show

Aveline Sat 26-Jul-25 20:06:08

What a strange household with Mary, George and Todd living in it with Theo off and on. You've got to wonder how it all works!

Crossstitchfan Sat 26-Jul-25 19:30:50

Yes, I agree with Blue Belle. He needs to go to India, or somewhere. Anywhere but on our tv!

Crossstitchfan Sat 26-Jul-25 19:29:07

I find Dev toe-curlingly irritating. He makes my teeth ache when he whines! I know Bernie love him but I can’t work out why. He isn’t even good-looking (aplologies to the actor). He is smarmy and yuk!

Calendargirl Sat 26-Jul-25 19:17:36

Oh yes, Dev’s first wedding.

Didn’t he come in on an elephant?

BlueBelle Sat 26-Jul-25 18:24:55

Oh Dev was even more hysterical and horrendously annoying this week, he’s like a puppet on steroids jigging around on a string
I hope he goes back to India very very very soon
So sorry Aveline at least you ve got no competition

Ilovecheese Sat 26-Jul-25 15:33:39

I have been watching long enough to remember Dev's first wedding.

Calendargirl Sat 26-Jul-25 14:58:31

You might get drafted in to work at the Chariot Square Aveline, as it seems to run with three staff members, Debbie, Ryan (when she hasn’t sacked him) and ‘Raphael’.

Aveline Sat 26-Jul-25 13:20:10

Oh yes I'm very sure. Unfortunately, my current husband refuses to play ball. It's 'dev'astating!
I might go for a mini break at the Chariot Square hotel to help me recover from the disappointment.

Actually Dev and Bernie's wedding as described by Calendargirl sounds great! I'll be waiting to catch him on the rebound when he realises what Bernie's been up to.

Any other considerations aside, Bernie is not the partner for Dev. Many have said it is the most unlikely pairing, and if you keep dropping by (after a quick 'Dutch courage' moment in the Weathy Arms) he cannot fail to see where his heart should be. Before this happens, are you ABSOLUTELY SURE that you want Dev, Aveline?

Bukkie Sat 26-Jul-25 10:36:53

Doodlebug - it's marvellous isn't it? We could solve all the crimes and anti social behaviour in this country with a stint on Corrie. I get cross when they forget previous crimes. Tracey was recently taunted somebody in the pub, I forget who and I was thinking isn't somebody going to call her out for murdering Charlie Stubbs. She should still be behind bars herself. And the dodgy t-shirts Beth. Kit was involved and that's why she left.

I've long been amused/irritated by the Cobbles Rehabilitation Programme has such an amazing success rate. From the Battersbys to Brodie there have been numerous miraculous transformations. Gary was a violent ne'er do well, Leanne a sex worker and thief, David a psychopath, Ken a philanderer, Tracy a murderer, Nick a swindler, Jenny a baby-stealer and so on and so on.

I know none of us is all good or all bad, but come on grin

Brody, complete personality change.

From a vodka swilling delinquent, now in a few short episodes, caring big brother, polite, and happy with a cup of sweet tea!

Marvellous.

The thought that in a couple of weeks we may be subjected to the sight of Dev marrying Bernie fills me with, well, amusement really.

Good old Bernie, in a former life child abandoner, petty thief, workshy, now elevated to near sainthood, wise, caring, empathetic…

No doubt she will be trotting down the aisle (or the Bistro, has it got a marriage licence?), in an off white creation and veil, quickly cobbled together in the Factory by Sean and co, with the quads in attendance, Gemma as Matron-of-Honour, and given away by Kit, who will leave his hospital bed, and Brody, jointly sharing the honour.

As for Dev….well, I hate to think what an idiot he will look like.

Oh, and Roy will rustle up a posh cake.

😂

LauraNorderr Fri 25-Jul-25 20:57:04

Oh dear, poor Aveline, you have two weeks before you officially become the other woman.

Charleygirl5 Fri 25-Jul-25 19:20:42

I agree, they are like chalk and cheese.

I was unaware one could send one's children to sleep in a neighbour's house, and a few days later, with Lou's verbal blessing, they will be adopted by Sally and Tim. Are there no social workers involved, or did I nip to the loo and miss it?
