Race Across the World

I'm loving this new series - mainly because I'm learning so much about China.

I must admit I've never had any desire to visit China, it's so far off my radar I've never given it any thought. but the diversity of the geography is startling and quite unexpected. Palm fringed beaches and swanky beach resorts are something I never would have associated with the country.

The rice terraces were extraordinary and the village where they kept spices on the roof - fascinating stuff.

As for the race, well it's early days but Tom & his Mum seem a bit out of their depth and surely must be at risk of being eliminated. I think because he did a gap year or some sort of backpack travelling she had great expectations of him which haven't come to fruition.

I loved this, but the winners were not my favourite pair. I felt "Mum" was an irritating individual.
Loved the dynamic between the two brothers, and the "growth" in the sisters relationship, plus the development of maturity of the young couple.

The same Visgirl
I found her the mother very annoying

Although I enjoyed the constantly changing scenery and travelling conditions, I was increasingly taken by the development of their relationships and characters. I was sad for Sionned (spelling?), overwhelmed by the crowds in the big cities, but in the later stages, she was so much happier in the more rural settings and took over the lead from Ben in making travel arrangements. I loved Brian and Melvin who rediscovered their boyhood and really relished the new experiences they shared. I think I read (or heard) that they had already been travelling together.
There was an item on - I think- the One Show in which the participants had a get-together, but it was too short and less informative than I'd have liked.

I'm not sure but they have shown the post-travel get together the week afterwards previously. It might be next Wednesday.

I hadn't realised Caroline is an equestrian 🤔

Yes, the 'reunion' show is next Wednesday. And no, I didn't realise she was an equestrian either. I wonder why she didn't mention anything about that side of her life?

Perhaps they edited it out?

It makes for better television.
The show is highly edited.

Oh yeah, I know that. Maybe they wanted us to have the whole 'mum who had lost who she really was' narrative and that didn't really fit in with that.

She certainly seemed very fit!
