I watched one episode of this new show last night, I don’t know how I got to the end.

Edmonds come across as a vain, self centred, immature and arrogant.

How anyone could compare this to Clarksons farm is beyond me.

Has anyone else seen this show?

Noel Edmonds was excellent on the radio, as a kids presenter and on entertaument shows in the eighties and nineties. Then he went weird on Deal Or No Deal and it became unbearable as he started to call contestants disciples and pilgrims like he was running a cult.

I don’t know NE, though he did once visit a school I taught at as a very new teacher, so I don’t know if he’s cringy or creepy.
I’m sorry about the damage caused to his place in NZ.
So many people in the area lost their homes and possessions and having money, though it makes it easier to recover, doesn’t make the trauma any less valid.

Won’t be watching it as I really don’t like NE. I find him cringy and rather creepy. There’s just something about him that makes my flesh crawl.

I was at Goodwood revival a with my son a couple of years back and Noel was in the restaurant at the same time as us. My son couldn’t get over how young he looked because he had watched him as a youngster on tiz waz or whatever it was called. Anyway I wandered across to where he and his pals were sitting pretending I was looking for someone just to get a close up of him. And he didn’t look a lot older than when he was on the t.v.in the 70s! He’s had a very car crash of a personal life which will have caused some stress which is said to age you! It certainly hasn’t aged Mr Edmond!

I thought it was hilarious - a real life Alan Partridge! Total cringe and at times, very uncomfortable to watch! His wife looks a little uncomfortable at times……

Dianehillbilly1957 Thu 03-Jul-25 19:10:58

Saw a clip on 'Gogglebox' that was more than enough for me! Sick of these smug so called celebrities who've got a shedload of money to waste, getting paid no doubt silly money they don't need and showing off their lifestyles none of us will ever get to experience!!!

Just found you tube info on Noel Edmunds land re the flooding . The beautiful wellness centre is destroyed by the river bursting it's banks. Terrible destruction for hundreds of miles to homes and farms

Oh dear!

There has been such terrible flooding there and in Australia.

^Because he’s still full of ideas and has a we/I can do it attitude to life, which I love.
Give me him above those who think that life stops at retirement.^

I agree.
That’s two threads where posters are celebrate the continuing liveliness of older people.
That makes today a good day, even if the heat wave has so far ignored our corner of the UK.

I'm going to have highlights put in my hair.
It might perk me up šŸ˜šŸ‘©

.

I'll go against the trend here and say that my husband, myself and our adult family all found it very interesting. It was good to see a NZ non-fiction programme and learn more about the country.

And we though that Noel, his wife and workers came over a little off-beat but sincere and fun.

He's invested alot of time and money in his project and obviously loves NZ - and we wish him well going forward.

A poster said his propery has been lost ( flooding ?) This is awful to hear. I am unable to find any info about this . He must be devastated . If true it's awful . I know the property is by a river . I know he's a bit pompous and a silly Billy but this is awful to hear

So long as he doesn’t end up in Australia as so many Kiwis do.

Yes, I've met quite a few.
And some of our relatives are amongst them 😁

I thought he had retired in this country until I also saw the trailer. It was enough for me, I would prefer to watch paint dry.

He is 76 and it does not appear he needs the money so why not have a peaceful life?

That’s one of the reasons he chose NZ.

Good answer.

I used to work for someone that worked closely with him in tv. I knew he was a twat & wanted confirmation, the reply was he's an absolute f c. I've never really liked him & I'm sure he'll be devastated to hear that.

Gummie

I really liked him in his Radio days. He was an excellent DJ and TV presenter. Watched this shows first episode though and thought it was hilarious.

He's got plenty of money and seems to be happy in his new life. I didn't find it particularly entertaining though watching a very much man spending and making money. I'm not bothering with the rest of the series.

It does not compare to Clarksons' Farm.

I'm exactly the same as you, Gummie.

Watched all episodes as I did like Noel back in the day, from his Radio 1 Breakfast show, Top of the Pops, Swap Shop, Late late Breakfast Show, Noel's House Party, Telly Addicts, Deal or no Deal - plus Christmas morning visits to Children's Hospitals.
All fronted by him and yes, those progs were of an age but I bet we all watched and enjoyed some or all of them but he obviously misses those years in the spotlight and it showed with his showing off to the camera and sexual innuendos.

The area where he lives is absolutely stunning. I would like to have seen more, which perhaps was shown in later episodes.

He has 4 daughters from his second marriage but they werent mentioned at all, he's no doubt a grandfather by now. Current wife Liz (3rd) had her son there who Noel seemed to get on very well with.

And he did look good for 76 but a full head of highlighted hair had a lot to do with that, not new age crystals.

merlotgran Thu 03-Jul-25 14:04:38

I used to laugh when the late Steve Wright called him, Mr. Tidy Beard! šŸ˜‚

Knittypamela Thu 03-Jul-25 14:00:38

Since the series was made his entire property has been flooded and he's lost everything.

He's barmy, isn't he? I used to like his breakfast show in the 70s, but he didn't grow wise with age. He told a cancer patient that his illness was due to a negative attitude and promoted some sort of quack cure for cancer and other serious illness.

Then there was a financial fraud case - I can't remember the detail, but again it left a lot of questions. There was the theme park that went horribly wrong. Blobbyland or similar. And that is all on the back of the poor man who died doing the challenge on his TV show.

I saw him being interviewed on TV about Deal Or No Deal and he said that the power of the mind could influence whether someone had the big money or not, which was a stupid thing to say as it suggested the show was run on dodgy lines. Obviously when the boxes were sealed they couldn't be changed.

He's at best a loose cannon.

According to Noel on the program; he was the victim of the fraud case ; it went to court, he was vindicated and the perpetrators forced to pay huge compensation to him.

Sanmrbro Thu 03-Jul-25 13:44:26

I haven’t watched this. However my son in law was on ā€œDeal or No Dealā€ years ago and said what a genuinely nice bloke he was.

Washerwoman Thu 03-Jul-25 12:17:55

Say what you like about Clarkson but for all his bluster we have loved Clarksons Farm andI believe he genuinely cares about farmers and the rural community. Yes he's very wealthy too and has a bit of fun with it but also wants farmers whose absolute only source of income is that to get a fair deal.Actually took NE is a totally different type and therefore don't think I will bother watching.

Cath9 Wed 02-Jul-25 17:59:46

Although I have never been a fan of Noel although I am a similar age and do agree that he does like to show off too much. I do agree with his statement that, like everywhere, ā€˜the UK is not the same country as he remembers’ .
I only watch the programme as my son has lived in NZ since 2005 and I along with my late husband travelled around NZ when over for their wedding.

We watched it. I thought he was 'up himself', crude, self centred, vain and quite frankly a bit odd.

Absolutely!

My thoughts exactly!
