Geography is a lost topic for a huge chunk of the population, this can be seen on almost any quiz show, true for many years! Oh, and this doesn't have to be foreign locations, the ignorance of our own country is also quite amazing.

I caught up with the first 2 episodes, I think I saw somewhere that this is the 2nd series, but If so I completely missed the first.

Those first 2 shows have made it clear that this will be an irritating watch for those of us who have been abroad quite a bit, the woman who got booted off the first episode had been given an extra clue ("Colmar"), but hadn't the wit to use it. What a good idea to go on a geography based game show and not bother to look at some maps first?

In the 2nd show, the contestant who is a nuclear scientist (?? Lord help us all?!) saw a clue that was an anagram of Matterhorn, and helpfully didn't read it properly, repeating the error several times (any of the others could have corrected her, only one at most noticed).

One of the ten contestants left partway through episode one, having apparently not read enough of the notes to work out that they'd be on a coach for a while, not getting the delights of home cooking!

For me the main problem of the show is almost constantly hearing Rob Brydon's super-smug voice-over, or his patronising little speeches to or about the contestants. At least they didn't pick Sara Pascoe, I suppose, now reinstated to try and make Sewing Bee unwatchable again! (record it, then speed through her bits . . .).

Am I right in thinking that the Matterhorn is no longer on the Toblerone bars? I need ho check next time I go shopping.

I watched episode 3 and probably won't bother with the rest. The destination was simple to guess and there was very little to keep my attention. The inside of a blacked out bus is not compelling TV.

Who doesn't know that clogs are associated with Amsterdam, Holland?

Oktoberfest was the big clue. It is held on the
Theresienwiese which is a big open space, not in a stadium.

I found it a bit tedious last night. I'd guessed it at the beginning. I like Munich. I've been several times after working there as a Gastarbeiter in a youth hostel, one university holiday for 3 months - cleaning toilets, corridors, and scraping weeds from between paving slabs with a knife! 🤮

I kept thinking that it was a double bluff as it was sooooo obvious.

I started watching, saw someone moaning because she'd broken nail and that was me finished!!

I'm enjoying it too. I like watching the interaction between participants and their alignments and reasons for switching. Yes, the places are easy to spot if you know the terrain but perhaps less so when they venture outside the norm. As I said before, it's an easy frolic for the silly season. Roll on the start of term. We will soon have more sport to complain about. Meanwhile I am having withdrawal symptoms from no real political programmes.

We did too. Watched the first two and just couldn't get into it at all. Found those taking part either boring or irritating.

Once out of France, and German speaking countries, I'm not so knowledgeable.
I think Northern Italy, but not Venice.

I think they might be in Genoa (Genova.) The words on the wall in the square, Soit a pied a chevalier is the motto of the Regiment of Genova. I looked it up. Although there was a gondola and several other clues to Venice.
All will be revealed tonight.

I have never heard of Colmar btw either.But like DrWatson says if you’re going to take part in essentially a geography game then you should have done loads of prep first.
The London cabbie , a Millwall fan annoys me the most.

I idled away some time trying to work out where the aerial, pentagon shaped, view of the city was. Closest view is Palmanova. Not one I automatically knew. Did they travel on from there? Ruling out Venice but others mentioned so far are runners as well.
