new series Of Ridley..

I don’t like her either, think it’s her voice and she has a ‘hard’ look about her.

She was very good as Sean Bean’s wife in ‘This City Is Ours’ though.

Probably playing a tough, hard nosed wife of a drug baron was the perfect role for her.

I don't like Julie Graham in anything & I m not sure why?
She's very attractive but ummmm!

Calendargirl Thu 28-Aug-25 16:12:05

I thought the last episode was a bit poor.

Yes, Ridley doesn’t look to enjoy his consulting role much. Why has Darren had to ask for cash, is he an online gambler? (Looking at the racing whilst at work).

Don’t like the Julie Graham character either, still feels very self indulgent of Ridley singing all the time.

At least he seems to have got over his grief about his family, and obviously fancies JG.

It was indeed boring but I was in the mood for that sort of thing. Somehow I was expecting Vera to take charge. Something about the setting I suppose.

Ilovedogs22 Thu 28-Aug-25 14:08:38

In desperation for something to watch I put on Ridley, as I like Adrian Dunbar. Oh! It was mind-numbingly boring. Even Adrian seemed fed with it, as though he just wanted a cup tea & a bit of read! Disappointing.

I thought the last episode was the best one.

I’ve loved it all the way through until the last one. What a load of tripe! The character played by John Michie didn’t seem the sort to just walk away even if he did have a criminal record. I wasn’t too keen on Ridley’s sidekick either. Her poor son was pushed aside once the new baby came along. Oh sorry, I just have to remember that it is only a TV series, haha!!!!!

I liked that song, too! And at least there was a fairly happy ending for Ridley.

I thought last night’s episode was a bit ‘painting with numbers’ somehow.

Not keen on Ridley’s sidekick, I feel for her son, who seems to have been somewhat sidelined since the birth of ‘Meadow’.

That whole scenario seems contrived, ‘Oh, let’s make Carol gay, and entering a whole new phase of life with younger partner who wants a baby of her own. That can introduce conflict with her son…’

Where is Jack’s father, I can’t remember much about him?

None of the characters seem ‘real’, Ridley, Carol, The DCI, the Jazz Club….

I thought we were going to get away with no singing from Ridley, but no, he popped up at the end.

Rather poignant though, I like that song.

Er…..Where have the orchestra and backing singers been hiding? 😂😂

lemsip Sun 24-Aug-25 20:42:14

Good to see Le Mans Crescent in Bolton being used yet again, the Council must make a fortune from it, it's used so often!

Betsylee Mon 18-Aug-25 22:21:36

I'm quite enjoying it, I liked Adrian Dunbar in Line of Duty, not so keen on his sidekick Bronagh, can't remember her surname, also not mad about his singing but easy viewing for a Sunday night.

love0c Mon 18-Aug-25 18:40:36

Looking forward to watching it but will have to watch the last episode of series one again. I can not remember how it ended!

Ziplok Mon 18-Aug-25 18:09:14

I missed episode 1, will have to use catch up, but I watched episode 2 last night and enjoyed it. Didn’t find it boring or predictable at all.

MollyNew Mon 18-Aug-25 17:59:37

Some of the acting can be a bit melodramatic but I like Adrian Dunbar and it's easy Sunday night viewing so I'll stick with it.

Aldom Mon 18-Aug-25 13:49:12

I watched the first series and enjoyed it as easy viewing. When I switched on the new series and Ridley walked into the bar and started singing I assumed I'd made a mistake, thought I had seen the episode before, so switched off. I now realise from reading the thread that the singing is a regular thing. Better take a look again methinks. grin

Visgir1 Mon 18-Aug-25 13:20:04

Much better last night..

sodapop Mon 18-Aug-25 12:46:36

I agree Clawdy last night's episode was better, I quite enjoyed the singing too. Easy watching, not too convoluted.

Mary59nana Mon 18-Aug-25 08:41:07

I am loving this binge watch started Saturday on Gransnet recomendation and will finish watching today.

Thank you ladies

Clawdy Mon 18-Aug-25 08:20:56

Yes, last night's was better, quite a few good twists. I'm actually getting used to the singing now! Rather liked the Wild Mountain Thyme bit.

GrammaH Mon 18-Aug-25 07:52:36

We're in the minority then as we liked the first series and are getting into the 2nd. Last night's was better than the first, a good way to spend a Sunday evening together. I'm not keen on Adrian's singing in it though but we did enjoy him in Kiss Me Kate and thought he played the role well.

merlotgran Sun 17-Aug-25 20:34:24

I think this week’s story is better than last week’s.

The bloke from Downton Abbey is always a baddie. 😂

dogsmother Sun 17-Aug-25 20:19:43

Rather enjoy the Sunday evening viewing, the singing is okay too. Not good enough to want to buy anything he might record but pleasant enough to remind me that I envy people who can actually sing. I wouldn’t even attempt a karaoke.
