So, I've heard of 8 of the celebrities but some of those I've literally just heard the names - don't know what they actually do.

Given my interests though, it's unlikely I would be able to identify a reality "celebrity" (I mean the Love Island type shows) a blogger/vlogger/influencer or most sports people.

Anyone know all of them?

Jane McDonald and Hannah Waddington.

I’ve found a contestant for next season. Could be a winner but costumes could be a problem.

Great musicality but I think I noticed a bit of spatula paw. Characterisation was FAB-U-LOUS though darling

Very good 😂

I wonder why they have both chosen to leave the most popular programme on the BBC (apparently)?

Yes, Claudia does other stuff, the Traitors, she used to host The Sewing Bee, and of course she does the Head and Shoulders adverts.

But Tess doesn’t seem to do anything else. Both in their 50’s I think, so not young, would have thought they would hang on in there for the foreseeable. They must be on good money.

Do they know something we don’t, or are they beginning to think Strictly has seen its best days?

Bake Off was never the same once Mary Berry left.

My very first thought was Alan Carr.

Allira Fri 24-Oct-25 18:12:13

I like Alan but we need presenters who are more low-key and not in danger of making themselves the stars of the show.

That rules out a lot of people.

Emma Willis now appearing in the bookies odds listings

Casdon Fri 24-Oct-25 18:26:14

I like Emma Willis, I think she would be good. Please not Jane McDonald, or any other gushers, a light touch with a bit of humour would be ideal. I really like Dermot O’Leary too, but this may not be his niche.

Dermot O’Leary can do no wrong in my eyes 🥰

Casdon Fri 24-Oct-25 18:47:53

We just need a couple more Dermot lovers and he’s a shoo in GrannyGravy13 - if he wants the job!

Wasn't much low-key about Brucie?

escaped Fri 24-Oct-25 19:02:46

I don't think Brucie made it all about himself as much as today's celebrity presenters do?

You're quite right valdavi.

But maybe we forgave him because he actually was the star of the show at the very beginning. Who had ever heard of Tess Daly, or any of the pro dancers back in the day. He probably was the biggest star and he made the show his own. And the way he presented it was probably instrumental in it's success and he left behind a massive show that no longer needed such a forceful front man (or lady).

Times change, the world moves on. Whoever takes over will never be bigger than the show itself.

I’ve found another contestant for next season.

Exactly. I was going to add that Bruce was the star of the show, more than the judges too, but it has moved on since then.

I'm not sure that the judges being made to be such 'stars' works either. Somehow it makes them seem too frivolous.

Well she's certainly got a very good hip rotation. And top marks to the costume department. Is that Dave Arch on the bongo?

Love it 😂

Sparklefizz Sat 25-Oct-25 18:35:54

Well done to Lewis. I was impressed with his nippy footwork, but I'm no expert.

merlotgran Sat 25-Oct-25 18:37:42

I loved that quickstep. Well done, Lewis.

rafichagran Sat 25-Oct-25 18:39:09

Grandmadinosaur Sat 25-Oct-25 18:41:52

Yes that was a great start

Sparklefizz Sat 25-Oct-25 18:44:29

Karen and Carlos were beautiful.

Yes, that was really sensuous!

Oh, here comes Craig 🤣

merlotgran Sat 25-Oct-25 18:54:16

Ooh! Well Done Ellie.

Happy Birthday Dave Arch. My secret Strictly crush. 😂

Allira Sat 25-Oct-25 18:57:13

Ellie's dancing always makes me smile. She is so enthusiastic!
Thanks Ellie!
