So, I've heard of 8 of the celebrities but some of those I've literally just heard the names - don't know what they actually do.

Given my interests though, it's unlikely I would be able to identify a reality "celebrity" (I mean the Love Island type shows) a blogger/vlogger/influencer or most sports people.

Anyone know all of them?

Allira Thu 23-Oct-25 15:15:19

Please not Angela Rippon. She is ancient

She's just a bit older than me! Thanks 😁. She presented the proper dance programme, Come Dancing and was on Strictly just a couple of years ago.

However, I think she'd be better as a judge.

Casdon Thu 23-Oct-25 15:25:44

How about Mel and Sue? I think a bit of humour woukd be good.

Calendargirl Thu 23-Oct-25 16:23:03

What about JB Gill?

A former contestant, does some presenting, seems such a nice chap. Think he would be great.

Bukkie Thu 23-Oct-25 16:47:22

Rylan please. JB Gill would be also good. I like the thought of Susan Calman too.

Millie22 Thu 23-Oct-25 17:23:53

Sorry Allira obvs you are not ancient 😂

Maremia Thu 23-Oct-25 17:35:41

Not too bothered. We just watch it for the dancing, and the costumes, and the music and the banter.
Okay, we care, but will not be put off.

I’d choose Zoe Ball in the Clauditorium, ((hope that name remains). Kevin Clifton as a judge instead of Twirly Shirley as in (‘never too early’) and Susan Calman or Jane McDonald doing the handholding waiting for the (jujjus) comments- but not that bothered really.

Sparklefizz Thu 23-Oct-25 17:49:37

I haven't seen a single name that appeals to me out of those mentioned above, and most of them horrify me except .... possibly ... Zoe Ball.

Grandmadinosaur Thu 23-Oct-25 17:51:43

Mel came into my mind earlier Casdon not sure about Sue though.
Mel is a big fan - she compered the Strictly tour a few years back. I met her out and about the morning after the show and stood chatting to her. She was lovely and easy to chat to. I think she’d be good in the comedic role like Claudia does.

Bukkie Thu 23-Oct-25 18:06:46

Oh yes Jane Mcdonald would be good.

ferry23 Thu 23-Oct-25 18:46:58

Zoe Ball
Holly Willoughby
Kevin Clifton & Stacey Dooley
Roman Kemp
Rylan Clark -
are the bookies favourites right now.

Just think of me as your friendly racecourse bookie spy - not that I'm obsessed or anything like that.....winkgrin

What about Vernon Kay? He’s a terrific host.

Would he though?
After his wife has just decided to leave?

Strictly should be shelved for a few years, or just finish it.
Too much drama, allegations of violence, bullying and illicit substance use from the last couple of years, so I feel it should end, or have a break. I believe that programmes reach a natural end, or should go out on a high. Tess and Claudia have seen how the 'wind is blowing' and are getting their corner straight now, but it is odd that they should say they are leaving mid run, rather than wait til the end of the show.

There is no way there will be enough time to find two good compatible presenters before next September. Zoe Ball presented It Takes Two programme for quite a few years, and I thought she was a great fit; when she left, it took some time for new presenters to settle in. To me, Rylan was not a good fit in that show, or, would be in the main show. I don't agree that any of the listed names would suit either.

Allira Thu 23-Oct-25 22:36:55

It is the most popular programme with the highest viewing figures on BBC!

Bridie22 Fri 24-Oct-25 07:00:16

Zoe and Rylan would be my choice, definitely not Vernon Kay or Paddy mcGuiness.

Well, it’s still only October! I would hope they could do it in just under a year.

How long should it take to look around, interview, decide?

🤷‍♀️

Calendargirl Fri 24-Oct-25 07:12:17

Oh, and no to Jane McDonald.

They wouldn’t need the singers. She could do it single handed.

I think they would be my choice as well

wendyann23 Fri 24-Oct-25 07:35:38

Anybody but Zoe Ball! Would turn off for good if she took over. Far too full of herself, too giggly, lovey dovey and over the top.

kittylester Fri 24-Oct-25 08:04:19

Someone on Breakfast just mentioned Alan Carr.

Someone on Breakfast just mentioned Alan Carr.

I’ve recently warmed to Alan Carr on Celebrity Traitors but not enough to see him every week on my favourite programme. Especially if he’s paired with his side kick Amanda Holden.

If the celebrity performers applying for the show are getting weaker and more insignificant now, surely presenters with big personalities are just going to end up "taking over" the entire programme.
In that case, we might just as well have normal members of the public as competitors?

Sparklefizz Fri 24-Oct-25 08:31:47

I think you should pitch that to the BBC, escaped.

ferry23 Fri 24-Oct-25 09:19:17

They did once do a Joe public Strictly - I think the contestants were "local hero" type people. I can remember it being on but other than that I have no further recollection.

We get so invested in it every year, I remember last year's winner but I'd be hard pushed to tell you the final three in 2023.
