Strictly 2025

I love Strictly, but the launch show is a little tedious, imho.
I prefer it when the dancers start competing. Then it's wonderful; music, dancing, gorgeous costumes, what's not to like.
I don't mind who the celebrities are and soon get drawn in to start picking favourites.

I never know many of them Allira but you kind of get used to them after a while.

I doubt many people ever know all of them. I'm afraid I'm of the age when I don't consider Love Island type people, vloggers and influencers to be celebrities but they are to a younger generation.

I doubt my Dad would have thought Mick Jagger a "celebrity"

However, apart from a couple of celebs, I rarely know any of the contestants. Perhaps I should have watched last night to find out more but 😴

I have met Tom, he was/is an absolute gentleman.

I really hope he does well.

I recognised some of the 'celebs'. Harry seems to crop up at every possible opportunity - won a cookery show and is one of the Gladiators! Alex Kingston has been in ER and Dr Who. JStefan is Jim from Neighbours. Now you know the extent of my viewing!

I loved it. I always enjoy seeing the professional dancers again. For me it makes dull Saturday nights really cosy. There are some great contestants in this year's line up.

I know Boudicca and Jim from Neighbours, although I hadn't watched Neighbours for about 25 years!
Karen Carney and Chris Robshaw too.

But none of the others.

The Saturday night programme was awful.

Alex Kingston was one of the best characters in Dr Who (apart from David Tennant) Will watch until she is kicked out probably very early as she is not an ‘influencer’!

I can't stand the conceit of the two presenters, its utterly cringe making! Plus, I have never heard of any of the contestants, really scratching around this time to find contestants. I changed channels after the first twenty minutes and will not be watching it anymore. Shame really, it used to be so good in Bruce's day.

It's not really about the personalities fair me - obviously, I know a few. The personalities of everyone emerges as time goes on and I take to some and not others.

But, the sparkle, spectacle, lights and music enliven my autumn evening and give some of my daughters and granddaughters something to talk about.

We have our youngest GS here, when Alex Kingston came down the stairs, he got so excited as he thought it was me…

I’ve never watched Strictly. Only because over the years flitting between here and Málaga I used to miss so many episodes I gave up.

But I’m posting now just to say, I bet I’m not the only one here tonight who’s just Googled Alex Kingston to get some idea of what GG13 looks like! 😁

What has Alex Kingston got to do with GG13 have I missed something?

I read an article yesterday in the press which said that agents were warning their well known celebrities off from appearing on Strictly. A couple of stars have had their careers ruined from appearing on the show and all the recent troubles make it very risky. I gave up religiously watching it a few years ago but might drop in on it every now and again.

I used to really enjoy Strictly but haven’t watched it for the last two years as I just got so bored with it all. My sister has always been a massive fan, but told me that she switched it off on Saturday as she said it was so awful.

I agree. I thought it was just me.

What I don't like about Strictly Come Dancing, apart from the silly title, is the way everybody has to pretend to be so nice and that they are all such good friends and will remain friends for life. Who do they think they are kidding?
