Time for the next thread.

Does anyone like the half hour Corrie?
I did read the shows where going to change so maybe it's permanent.

Yes, I prefer the half hour.

Five weekly half hour episodes at the same time seems better to me. Emmerdale first, which I don’t watch, means it’s a regular ‘Soap’ hour.

This is permanent, I think.

I didn't presume anything other than a man married to a woman with a young family. I liked the character though and think Dr. Harper could team up with Dr. Gaddass

Dr. Gaddas is gay also.

Just saying.

The millionaire show now preceding Emmerdale & Corrie is dire.

I don't recall any mention of Shona having a sister either but then my recall is not the best.
I'm with you there BlueBelle I like Corrie but maybe from a nostalgic viewpoint, Emmerdale is my favourite of the two.

I prefer the hour. It seems too bitty.

Not just you Calendargirl. I picked up that his partner was male too.

BlueBelle Fri 09-Jan-26 07:23:29

No Calandergrl I didn’t see in my mind, anything other than a wife and kids round the table with a birthday cake and lit candles waiting for him . I must be a very literal person he didn’t ping any gay buttons in my head

On social media there was lots of posts ‘is that Shona sister back’ or ‘I m sure that was Shonas sister who showed up’ People seemed familiar with her but I don’t have any memory of anything like that Mind you my memory is bad so presumed it was me or maybe it was brief and I just missed it but makes me wonder what else I ve missed out.

Calendargirl Fri 09-Jan-26 07:06:15

Surely when the surgeon, Mr Harper, was on the phone to his family, and talking about missing a birthday or something, his comments made me think it was a gay partnership?

I would have to re-watch it for clarification, but I know I definitely thought ‘Oh, his partner is not a woman then’.

But he obviously had a child or children.

Did anyone else think the same?

Maggiemaybe Thu 08-Jan-26 22:49:10

I don’t remember any mention of a sister for Shona either, but that seems the most likely explanation.

I did wonder if the new doctor recognised Billy as gay “because of his grooming” because he’s gay himself? Let’s face it, we need more gay characters in Corrie, don’t we? grin

BlueBelle Thu 08-Jan-26 19:27:48

I didn’t know about the girl but on social media everyone seems to know she is Shona s sister and has been in Corrie or talked about in Corrie previously, but I have no memory of ever hearing about her but they all seemed clued up on her !!!!

Bukkie Thu 08-Jan-26 18:47:50

When Dr Harper appeared, I got confused and presumed he was from Emmerdale and I was watching another mash up. The actor used to be in Poldark.

Calendargirl Thu 08-Jan-26 11:28:39

I have read a bit about the Doctor Harper storyline online.

🤐

I don’t watch Emmerdale, so none of that made much sense to me.

The hoodie man who, it seems, has been supposedly dead and now appeared again, looked familiar.

I worked out who he was. He was in Downton Abbey, the tenant farmer who took in Lady Edith’s daughter, Marigold, and was then forced out because his poor wife didn’t want to hand her back.

theworriedwell Thu 08-Jan-26 11:11:00

Families can be estranged, one of my siblings claim I am their only sibling although we have another sister. Might be something like that.

Grannynannywanny Thu 08-Jan-26 10:38:16

Sarnia she first appeared on the Corriedale episode and hasn’t ever appeared on Emmerdale.

Her first ever appearance was tied up in the back of a van from which she managed to escape. No obvious link to Emmerdale. Not yet anyway. But there has been a rather sordid slave labour/people trafficking storyline running for months on Emmerdale.

Sarnia Thu 08-Jan-26 10:24:32

What is the link between the young girl (Emmerdale) and Shona? They both have the same tattoos and the girl is loitering around the hospital, watching Shona and clutching a toy rabbit.
I suppose we are going to be expected to believe that she is Shona's daughter or sister, although Shona has never mentioned either.
Storylines like this make me wonder if there are plans to continue linking the 2 soaps. I do hope not.

Beechnut Thu 08-Jan-26 09:42:40

Perhaps he’s not really a doctor.

Grannynannywanny Thu 08-Jan-26 08:58:41

Clawdy

Wonder where the Doctor Harper storyline is going. Looks as if the character may stay. But he lives in Bristol!

I thought when he turned up in the cafe he might be a journalist.

Strange for him to speculate about Billy’s sexuality when he saw his photo in the cafe.

Poor Debbie. She knows she wasn’t driving and is trying to protect Carl. Hopefully Ronnie will see her bruising and remember what Kevin said. Really the police should have already checked these facts and could have asked the medical staff which side of Carl’s body was bruised.

nanaK54 Tue 06-Jan-26 21:03:59

Poor Summer, poor Todd and poor Carla sad
Oh and that awful Carl, go on Kevin sort him out

Devorgilla Tue 06-Jan-26 20:07:18

I enjoyed the episode although I did think it was a trifle contrived. Still, it tied up some loose ends. I'm sorry that Billy has gone. He has grown on me. I wondered if Kevin had done Carl in. Asha now set to resume her career. Meanwhile. the odious Theo survives for another day. I do hope Todd connects the dots, and soon. I think Todd has a dark side and will sort Theo out if only to avenge Billy and protect Summer. I had an inkling who the Emmerdale crew were as I catch the tailend of it while waiting for Coro.

Maggiemaybe Tue 06-Jan-26 19:12:46

Same here, nanaK54, I enjoyed it, daft as it was. I didn’t know any of the Emmerdale lot, but got an idea of what was going on. One thing that irritated me was Tim sitting in his taxi, seemingly all night, while his passengers (presumably medics?) got out to help. He would have been out there himself trying to rescue his neighbours, surely? Someone online said that Lisa was seen in a previous episode putting her handcuffs into her bag, the supposition being that she was already onto Becky and was going to arrest her before she got on the ferry. I’m not sure that rings true though.

nanaK54 Tue 06-Jan-26 16:45:34

I don't watch Emmerdale but still enjoyed Corriedale - easily pleased me grin

BlueBelle Tue 06-Jan-26 16:12:03

I love Emmerdale since starting it I now prefer it to Corrie which I ve watched for donkey years
It’s certainly getting hugely positive reviews on social media
Everyone seems to have loved it There are numerous threads about it and all very positive
Perhaps some older people are more set in their ways and don’t like big changes However I can see it would be very awkward if you only watch one of the soaps I would have been in a right muddle I think
