Corrie Yet Again!
(1001 Posts)Time for the next thread.
Not seen any real spoilers on this thread though? Unless I missed one.
I don't know how spoilers get out, and why. Some stories have more than one ending filmed so even the cast don't know who the baddie is, or whether a wedding goes ahead, but others make the News. It ruins it for me when I know what's going to happen, even if it's just that someone is leaving, but I suppose the agents want it known that the actors are available for work, so leak it.
Many boards have a 'spoiler' feature, so posters can cover anything that might spoil things for others with a black line (like a redacted document) and readers have to click to see it, so are making a choice whether to know or not. On the whole, subsequent posters are respectful in their replies and ensure that any discussion of the spoiler is also redacted. MN have this facility, so why can't we?
I also saw it by accident. I wish they wouldn't sneak in spoilers. I prefer to watch as it goes along, even if I loathe half of the characters, especially the latest loud-mouthed lot. Father and son look the same age to me! Maybe I need to go to Specsavers.

Just seen a spoiler hinting at yet another tragic storyline ahead. Wish they would stop the unrelenting gloom.
Yes, I’ve seen that as well.
More misery.
No clues, please
I am enjoying seeing things unfold as they do on TV.

This is why I think it's good that there are multiple storylines again. For a while it was one thing dragging on for ages, with nothing much to break it up, and some like one set of characters and others another. I hope it goes back to the old way, when there were family stories with the Websters and Platts, the 'oldies' like Norris, Emily and Rita, and young people such as Tyrone and Fizz. There was someone for all but the grumpiest of viewers to like, and the inevitable baddies for us all to dislike. Ever the optimist, I am hoping that the new broom will bring this back, and I will enjoy it more than I have been lately.
At least we are pre-warned if Theo is going to be on that night.
The usual ‘Some viewers may find the content distressing’ announced before the start, you know it’s going to include his and Todd’s storylines.
And the talk of suicide, you know it’s going to be Asha and Dev.
As soon as Todd and the woodentop come on I wind on and as soon as Carla and Lisa appear I again wind on!
I couldn't agree more BlueBelle. It has always been the same: a good storyline is started, but it goes on for far too long.
I missed a lot last night because I fell asleep, but I doubt if it mattered.
BlueBelle
No Grannynannywanny I think I m in the minority as I can’t stand that OTT noisy, manic new family, perhaps I ll warm to them as time goes on but at the moment I m finding them crushingly loud and awful, perhaps it’s because they all descended like a tornado at once, but they are at the moment doing my head in, perhaps if they separate into individual storylines I ll grow into them but on masse I think they re awful
Strange how Olly is his son how did that happen he just happened to roll up at the same place six months before
Having said all that I can’t stand the Carla/Lisa/Beckys shenanigans either so me and Corrie are not in love at the moment and I m finding I m not paying it too much attention while it’s on or being upset if I miss it
You're not in the minority BlueBelle.
Why did they get rid of Jenny and put this lot in. I can't stand them.
Carla etc story. The sooner that story ends the better.
Corrie's going downhill fast.

I laughed when Maggie asked if they wanted tea and a sandwich. She came very close to slipping into Mrs Doyle mode .
Ah go on, go on, go on! 🫖
Yes, very funny, but how nasty to suggest Glenda should have her break in her own home - if it were even half an hour, she would be hard put to get home, prepare and drink a cup of something, and get back.

Let’s hope Betsy goes off to Spain with dreadful Becky.
Is Becky her birth mother, or is Lisa?
Why is Glenda wearing a dress that looks like it’s two halves of a different dress?
Or does she often wear it?
I thought that too, Bukkie - she looked quite haggard, as if she had been unwell.
I don't think Jane Danson who plays Leeanne looks very well on screen this week. Hope she is OK. Leanne always looks lovely in her outfits and I often find myself wondering where her dress, top, blouse etc...have come from.
Doodlebug- I agree with so much you say. Carla is a great character and was a real maneater. I don't think anyone cares about Lisa, Betsy and Becky so we aren't interested when they appear. Come back Peter, her true love. Asha, Summer and Amy are all weak actresses, yet Aadi who was a fine young actor was criminally underused. Luxury crisps anyone? Young Jake is a good actor and relatable as Gary's son. I have warmed to Cassie and have liked Claire Sweeney in other programmes. I think she will be great on the switchboard. I like her relationship with Hope and often think Cassie sees her young self in her. Eileen always was a great comedy actress but after Sue Cleaver showed her true poisonous self in the jungle I couldn't ever see her character in the same light. I hope they keep George and Christina together they are a great couple. I still love Coronation and have watched it for 50 years so it's part of my life.
I wouldn't watch it if I disliked it as much as many on this thread
. I value my blood pressure too much, and there are other things I could be doing with three hours a week.
I felt that it went right off the boil when they stopped having all-cast filming, which I think started during Covid. That had a major impact on the storylines, and meant that cast members were lost, as their salaries fell too far to make it worth their while. I hope the recent episodes mark a new broom, and that the recent developments mean there will be a return to the Rovers being a real pub with more than one or two staff and four customers at a time.
I hope they carry on with several stories running at once, as that was always the strength of the show. There was something for everyone, and if (like me and many on the thread) you are bored with Becky et al, there is likely to be a different story to keep you going until it gets resolved. I think the new people will be a good addition - a ditzy (but tough) landlady with a slightly(?) dodgy partner and a matriarch to rival Evelyn/Blanche/Phyllis will give plenty of scope for new stories and a bit of (much needed) comedy.
Meanwhile, I am concerned for Debbie, as Carl is getting to be more and more of a baddie, and he seems to b getting Kevin onside. Is Kevin ill in real life? He is hard to understand sometimes as he slurs his words so much. I think the actor has a drink problem, but that's not unusual on soaps, and they aren't usually allowed to film when under the influence.
I also dislike Theo, but obviously we are all meant to, and it would be odd if he had supporters. The coercive control story is very well done, IMO, although the relationship between Theo and his family doesn't ring true, and there is no chemistry between him and Todd. Poor Todd is looking more and more confused and unsure of himself - he needs his mum to come back and talk some sense into him. I wonder if Sarah will cotton on and come to the rescue.
George and Christina are shaping up to be a good couple. I think the writers need to get rid of Amy, Asha and Summer, and replace them with a new younger generation. None of them can act, and they haven't had a decent storyline for ages. Aadi could have been used more, IMO - he's a good looking lad, and does have talent, but hey ho. An injection of more compelling young characters would be useful, and open the possibility of a wider range of storylines, so long as they aren't all in jail or hospital most of the time.
It looks like Cassie is here to stay. As ever, a spell on the cobbles has mellowed the character, and she's not as bad as she was at first. I doubt I will ever warm to the actress, but if she stays on the taxi switchboard she will become a fixture and won't have to be a pantomime villain.
Overall, I am impressed with the recent changes, and hope they succeed in bringing back the Corrie most of us enjoy.
I agree! Becky is one of the worst characters in Corrie. I, too, find the Carla/Lisa story boring in the extreme. They are not interesting characters at the best of times. Also, I am no prude, but I do find watching gay couples swallowing each other’s tonsils sick-making, either male or female.
I also find Betsy, with her pathetic little girl voice and weird face-pulling, totally annoying. She is so superfluous to the story.
At least last night we didn’t have to suffer the ghastly Theo, who is getting more unbearable by the day. His acting is dire, and he makes me cringe to look at him. He has a reptilian look about him sometimes! Please give him a nasty end!
As for the new people? Well, they are there as a desperate attempt by the directors/producers to revive the viewers’ interest. They don’t do much for me, that’s for sure.
As you can tell, for me, there is not much love lost where Corrie is concerned. I used to love it but it has got beyond a joke lately. I watch it purely from loyalty, having done so since the start in 1960,
Like others, I don’t worry if I miss an episode now. Will it improve? I won’t hold my breath.
I know, it’s ridiculous.
With just her hood pulled up to disguise her from an extremely violent gang.

I completely agree about Lisa, Carla and Becky. It’s dragged on far too long and not made a lot of sense. Becky faked her own death and disappeared for their safety. Now she’s back socialising in the Rovers.
Agree. Really like the new family.
Enjoying Coronation street at the moment,
Just wish they’d stop with the Carla/ Lisa/ Becky storyline - it’s beyond boring.
